288: Complicated?

288: Complicated?

Chapter 288 [She has some guts to come here] ‘Yeah, I was hoping to meet one-on-one so no one would see me winning her heart.’ I never expected Celandine to come here.

The Celandine I killed back then was wasn’t lady Celandine but man Celandine and using a man’s heart makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

She was assured that no one would be able to figure her out so she wasn’t in danger but she actually wasn’t even if I knew who she was.

As I said, killing her would require an answer and in that answer, her origins would be leaked.

The moment they were, I would lose all the rights to her heart.

I was only able to obtain the last one due to Rafael who was also worried about Alicia and didn’t notice much.

I doubt the other two old siblings wouldn’t.

[I’m not talking about her] ‘Huh?’ I was confused.

If not her then who was she talking about?

[That pink head next to you] ‘Oh~~~ Her~~~’ Yeah, in her case, I had no idea.

I have no idea.

I didn’t what she was thinking but whatever it was, she wouldn’t be willing to listen to me anymore if she didn’t so far.

I specifically remember telling them not to join and seeing that the others listened and she didn’t, she must have a reason.

Rose wasn’t the type to be rebellious or stubborn after all.

“NOW!

LET US BEGIN THIS EVENT!” The announcer finally announced the start of this event and the event began.

What was the event?

It was simple and straight to the point, just like one would expect from muscle heads who were crazy and crafty as hell.

That’s right.

Fighting.

That was what this tournament-type event was about.

There were a total of 1000 applicants from all over the empire, from age 15 to 35.

Obviously, not everyone and anyone was allowed to enter.

The criteria of this event was being at the rank of B+ which was why, none of the other children of the royal family other than me were allowed to enter.

I mean, the first crown candidate could enter but he wasn’t in a good position losing the support of his father, the Crown Prince Harvey.

Other than that, the second one was still traumatized and was being consoled and treated to health in many innovative ways by his fiancée who was surprisingly loyal to him unlike what was expected of typical small villains.

The others weren’t at the required power yet and the eldest daughter of the third prince didn’t participate for some reason even though she was more than qualified.

Still, there were many faces I remember from my fight with Asmara.

Of course, I didn’t bother to remember their names even though I have a very good memory.

Anyway, the first round was a fight.

200 participants in each group and out of all of those, only 10 would be allowed to advance to the next round which was a mental manipulation round.

In that round, the ten participants would be shown their worst nightmares, regrets, or something else to break their mentality.

The one to overcome that or perform well enough would be allowed to proceed to the final round.

There could be only three finalists so those who performed the worst would once again have to duke it out.

In the end, only three winners would remain and they would have to compete for the first prize.

Not by fighting each other of course but by fighting the sword that was for the first prize.

[The sword of corruption] [Rank: ???] [Error] [True name cannot be seen] [The user must touch the sword for further information] Ever since earlier, the system wasn’t saying anything about this.

The name of the sword couldn’t be shown no matter what I tried.

Even the system wasn’t showing anything and even after touching the sword, there wasn’t any assurance that the name of the sword would be shown.

To my knowledge, the sword belonged to the Mentalist, and its rank in his hands was divine.

It wasn’t an apostolic weapon but it was still better than all the existing weapons in my knowledge.

Even the materials required to craft one at the same level or a greater one than that weren’t currently available to me.

The shop had them but their prices were beyond what I could afford for now.

Besides, at first, I just wanted that sword for myself for its functions but looking at it like this, there seems to be more to it than what was shown in the novel.

And the one to take it would be none other than me.

“NOW!

COME UP AND TAKE YOUR TICKETS TO DECIDE WHICH GROUP YOU BELONG TO!” The announcer announced so we started moving to the stage.

After a while, my turn came and my group was the third one.

When I came down with my ticket in my hand, Rose shortly followed me and asked, “What is your group?” “Third.

Why?” I replied and asked, a little confused, and when my eyes fell on the ticket in her hand, there was ‘4’ on it which meant she and I wouldn’t be facing each other in this tournament.

She looked at me deeply before she turned and left.

‘What was that all about?’ I was left confused by her confusing behavior.

Rose wasn’t the type to be complicated but I guess women were complicated creatures in the end and even if she wasn’t the type to be, didn’t mean she couldn’t be.

I turned to look through the crowd to see my other target and it wasn’t long before I spotted a pale beauty with dark eyes and dark hair.

Her paper was clutched in her hand and I couldn’t see what it was.

But I guess I wasn’t the only one who an idiot here as some noble walked up to her and said, “I am Robert De Sarz, the rightful heir of the De Sarz county.

May I be presumptuous enough to know the name of the beautiful maiden?” His skills in wooing her were questionable seeing how he was praising himself first and then her.

And the disguised Celandine wasn’t impressed as well and I was sure I saw a brief murderous intent flash through her eyes before it went away as if I had just imagined it.

She smiled and said, “This one is Beatrice Riverdale.

I am from the Riverdale county on the east side of the empire, here to make a name for myself.” “Riverdale county?

Oh, you must be from the east side of the empire.” Robert said as if he realized the obvious.

Ignoring the fact that he was repeating what she said, there was no Riverdale County.

Sure, there were hundreds of counts in this big empire and one couldn’t memorize all of them.

However, I wasn’t just anyone.

As I said, I have an exceptional memory and I made myself familiar with every noble name and territory when crossing them for anything significant.

There was no Riverdale territory.

Sloppy work, I say.

Had she taken some poor chap hostage, and pretended to be her daughter while threatening to kill his family, she would have easily been able to create a solid background.

[Something’s not right with your head] ‘Whatever.’ Anyway, the conversation continued and Robert continued to use his mediocre skills on her.

Status-wise, they were both the same but Robert’s status was higher since he was an heir to a county which she wasn’t, or at least she wasn’t of that imaginary County.

That was also why Robert was acting quite arrogant to her and she did nothing but listen with hidden annoyance.

She had no choice but to answer the questions that came up and soon, the question I was interested in also came up.

“Which group do you belong to?

I would hate to fight against you.” Robert said.

“I am in group four.” Disguised Celandine said.

Cr*p.

She was gonna get it.

After all, her rank was only S+ while Rose was almost SS-.

Even if her status as some sort of apostle was special, Rose was more special than her.

There was no way Rose would lose to her.

“Let the fights begin!” The announcer announced, not even saying match to say sugarcoat the word, turning it into a friendly spar.

No.

The meaning was clear.

It was a fight.

“The participants called from all the groups, head to the stage.” There were twenty stages and four matches at once form each group would be held.

However, there seemed to be a problem with the lineup.

Why was there a kid with a swollen eye and snot flowing from his nose in the group four lane and why was Rose standing in the group three lane with blood on her hand?

[You want a simple answer?] ‘Nah, I got it.’ Women indeed were complicated.

And no matter what nature Rose held, she was more complicated than she seemed to be.
