286: Chapter 1 ends 286: Chapter 1 ends Chapter 286 [How long are you going to pretend to be asleep?] ‘…’ I didn’t reply.

How did she even expect me to reply to that question when I had a sword hanging above my head?

A literal one.

“As soon as he wakes up, I’m piercing stabbing him in his eye,” Laura said, her voice carrying a great deal of dissatisfaction and anger.

And the worst part was… “It would not hurt much there.

I heard men feel more pain if you stab them in their precious area,” Sophien said with a dagger in her hand.

“Maybe we should throw him out the window to wake him up?” Alicia suggested.

How did she even think of that?

“Do you not think you are all going a little too far?” Asmara, as kind-hearted as she was said, “Stabbing him in his heart would finish the story for once and for all.” Kind-hearted?

[You and your father sure know you to pick women] [Always the crazy ones] I didn’t agree or deny such a statement and turned my attention to the last girl who wasn’t with this threatening band.

Rose was the only one who was standing in a corner, her expression as far as I could glean from Allison was that she wasn’t very happy either but it was something else and I knew perfectly what it was.

[She’s well aware of the threat he was] Zeus was a threat that no one, and I mean no one in the world, even at present could singlehandedly deal with.

Rose knew that yet she was still sulking about it.

Given how strong she was, I doubted anyone at the academy except for Sirius could threaten her yet she faced a reality that was far from that.

Her power was worthless.

How the hell was she supposed to take that?

Well, with her potential, she had nothing to be worried about but to tell her that, I needed to be ‘awake’.

How do I do that when my life hangs in balance?

[So how long are you going to ‘remain’ unconscious?] ‘Three to five years should be enough.’ I was sure they would get over it after three years.

After all, my crime wasn’t that serious.

[They haven’t moved in four days] [You think they would leave in just that little time?] ‘Fu*k.

A woman’s revenge indeed lasts a century.’ [Just take your first girlfriend] ‘Ugh!

Don’t remind me of her.’ “Is he awake?” An elder voice entered my ears and I recognized whom it belonged to.

At last, my savior had arrived.

“He is still unconscious, Your Majesty,” Alicia respectfully replied while all the others in the room bowed to him as well.

“I see,” Orion replied before he said, “You all may rest now.

I know you are very worried for him but you all need to rest as well.” The girls looked at each other but in the end, they nodded to each other and left.

“You can get up now,” Orion said once they were all gone.

I opened my eyes and looked at him, “Thanks.

I didn’t know what would happen to me if I got up.” “You don’t need to explain.

I was also married once,” Orion sympathetically replied.

‘A fellow warrior.’ “So,” He began and sat down on the couch on the other side of the room, “I do not think I need to tell you why I am here.” Because you want to know how I was able to become stronger than you?

Like I would be stupid enough to reply.

“I made a deal with an angel.” I simply replied.

Angels.

Of course, the angels here weren’t the same angels I was familiar with but more of a race who remained in a separate dimension to the gods of this world.

To be honest, the structure of this world was quite simple.

Demons, the true ones, in the lower realm.

Humans and the other races in the middle realm.

Angels in the upper realm and gods, aka Supremes in the highest realm.

This world hadn’t had contact with demons for so long that they had forgotten about them.

Of course, being the son of density and a certified troublemaker, the protagonist of this story will come in contact with the demons and the world will learn of them again.

Fantastic.

After that came the angels.

Angels lived in the upper realm and the imperial family had contact with them in the past so this excuse was much more viable.

After all, Orion’s own wife was of angelic descent.

She was the reason why Michael, Adrian’s father was so strong.

Ironically, he was also the reason she flipped out and destroyed almost all of the empire.

The hero will come across her in the future as well.

Like the sunshine he was.

And then come the gods, the Supremes of this world.

Didn’t know much about them since they didn’t have much contact with this world.

What happened here was portrayed as they didn’t care and cared at the same time.

I didn’t really know how that worked.

Anyway, the angels were a theory I could use seeing that the imperial family had a deal with them in the past as well.

Orion looked at me skeptically.

Well, of course, he did.

The experience he had with the angels wasn’t a good one after all.

I mean, the imperial bloodline was what it was thanks to a woman who slept with an angel but only one person could inherit that bloodline.

And the one to inherit this one was Orion’s wife, his cousin.

That was why Orion married her.

To be able to control that power.

Of course, as it was shown in the novel, he loved her as well but he also monopolized her given that she was set to be married somewhere else.

[Politics] Politics, indeed.

Now to me, a man of modern times and a doctor, I knew the marriage was anything but a good thing seeing as the first and foremost thing about it was that they were both cousins.

But I’ve seen enough medieval worlds to know that such a thing even between siblings was normal for these guys.

[It truly was] ‘…’ I focused on Orion who was busy with his own chain of thoughts.

I could clearly tell what he was thinking even if he was hiding it behind an expressionless face.

Well, obviously he was old but I was much older.

I knew exactly what a kid like him was thinking.

[He’s thinking how to use you] “How many times can you use that power?” Orion asked.

“Three,” I replied before I added, “The one in the artifact counted as well.” “So you wouldn’t be able to use it after two more times?” He asked.

The skill?

“No.” The power shown was my true power.

I will reach that point one day and given that I managed to come this far in just a year and a half, that day wasn’t far away as well.

But the skill was only for three times and I was truthful about that.

Orion nodded and said, “Then let’s keep it a secret for a while now.

I will announce that you used your imperial bloodline to the maximum and now it has taken adverse effects.

Remain out of the public eye for some time.” [Cunning old man] He can’t help it.

There were too many spies in the empire, both from the allied races and from the church.

If they came to know that I had this power, power to counter Zeus, the strongest threat of this world, the answer would be simple.

War.

Orion nodded and left.

When he did, he left behind a barrier so the girls wouldn’t return.

I sighed and slumped back into my bed.

‘Now,’ How to deal with this?

[Chapter 1 finished] [Calculating the user’s interference in the chapter] [User has shown remarkable results in the chapter] [Interference results have exceeded normal capacity] [User’s progress: 100%] [The task will be decided depending on the user’s current progress rate] I sighed.

I didn’t receive a reward from the system.

It was true I didn’t need it in the first place.

The level of strength I had was thanks to the system’s contribution but even if I was just on my own, I would have been able to achieve my current strength sooner.

Way, way sooner.

In a way, the system was a shackle to keep me in check.

Well, keeping me in check wasn’t the system’s but my father’s move.

Not that I couldn’t understand as well.

Usually, I don’t interfere with the world’s affairs, no matter what fragment I was visiting.

So, there was no reason for the world’s laws to keep me in check.

Of course, sometimes, I have created some troubles that have caused the laws to come after me.

But, it was never to this scale.

In this world, I was interfering to the point that it could be said I was invading it.

And the cosmic laws wouldn’t like that, especially, ‘time’ wouldn’t like that.

So the system was in order to not only keep me in check but also to make sure I slowly became one with this world so that the laws wouldn’t come after me so strongly.
