The Archangel of Death - Chapter 281
281: The Brothers (1) 281: The Brothers (1) Chapter 281 > From here on, the conversation between Adrian and Zeus is in English, not in the language of Isis < ~~ "Welcome back, brother," Adrian said, still staring at Zeus with eyes that held no particular emotion, his face expressionless, not giving any hint of how he actually felt.
The white light around him had long since vanished and his swaying white hair and hollow white eyes were exposed to the world.
"You've lost the right to call me brother, Archangel.
To you," Zeus opened his eyes and stared at Adrian and said with the same expressionless face but his voice full of hatred, "I'm the Titan." "Makes sense.
The people in this world call you Zeus.
Zeus was the titan of thunder.
The title suits you." Adrian said without any hitch in his voice.
"I don't care what they call me.
All I know is that you abandoned me, vanquished me of all hope.
But here, now there is hope." Zeus said.
"You don't even know where you are," Adrian said which didn't make sense to Zeus.
Adrian looked back at Zeus and said, "But I know you're here now.
I will find you before it gets any worse." "What nonsense are you saying?
I'm here, aren't I?" Zeus said as nothing Adrian said made any sense to him.
"No, you're not," Adrian said, "You haven't been here for a very long time." Before Zeus could say anything, Adrian pointed his hand at him and said… [Monarch of frost: World of ice] Zeus hurriedly jumped because he was standing, a single snowflake formed which then expanded to the point that the entire world was covered in ice in an instant.
The ice wasn't blue in color but white.
However, the frost and chill emitting from it was enough to be threatening to not just the entire world, but to Zeus as well.
Zeus turned back to Adrian who had his mouth open.
[Dragon's breath] A massive heat assaulted Zeus's being and he hurriedly burst into lightning, trying to avoid the white flames that threatened to burn down the entire world.
As he escaped in a thunderbolt, some of it was still caught up in fire so when he materialized, his shoulder was deeply burned.
He gritted his teeth and endured pain.
Chills ran down his back and he hurriedly dodged the attack of the sword aimed at his neck.
[Shadow verse] Unlike the name of the skill, the shadow from which Adrian came out was white, not black but it was equally undetectable by anyone.
[Magic cannon] Massive cannons of light fell on Zeus which he dodged easily due to their slow speed but he was mistaken when they began to follow him around.
Soon enough, when he thought that they would just follow him and he could dodge them, the cannons began to explode and Zeus was caught off guard in the explosions.
Still, he wasn't injured to the point that it hurt him.
It was definitely a lot less compared to the pain he incurred from the [Dragon's breath].
While he was distracted, Adrian appeared close to him and hit him with a straight punch.
Zeus effortlessly blocked that attack and moved to counterattack with a kick but Adrian raised his own knee to stop the kick mid-momentum and tried to pierce Zeus with the sword in his hand.
[Titan's serenity: Aphrodite's protection] A circular shield made of blue lightning appeared on Zeus's hand and blocked the piercing strike of Adrian.
Adrian turned back to counterattack with an attack of his own but Zeus followed because most of Adrian's attacks were long ranged and Zeus couldn't allow him to widen the distance.
Adrian let go of the sword and executed a martial arts move, catching Zeus in a movement he couldn't dodge even with his speed.
Zeus had no choice but to take it on his face while giving one of his own.
But Adrian was prepared for that and easily blocked the hit, spinning in the air, parrying it off with his feet.
An exchange of flurry attacks, too fast for the eyes to see, neither of them injured but Zeus was the only one who was struck four times in that exchange of hundreds of attacks.
However, Zeus felt something off.
"You're not you." He said as he deflected about ten attacks that looked like just one.
Zeus knew it wasn't his brother's body but there was something else that was strange as well.
Except for the divine demon sword art, Adrian hadn't used any of the attacks he usually used.
Well, except for the [Dragon's breath] but even that wasn't his primary move.
So far, Adrian hadn't used any of his primary attacks.
It meant that Adrian wasn't at full power.
"You're equal to me," Zeus said as realization dawned on him and he burst away in a flash of lightning.
Just as he materialized though, a flash of light also lighted up around him and Adrian appeared in his view.
If Zeus was lightning, then Adrian was light.
Light was always faster and that was proved in that small exchange when Zeus and Adrian began to exchange a lot of attacks.
Zeus was on the losing side because his speed wasn't as much as Adrian's.
Though they were equal in power, the elemental characteristic of light gave Adrian more speed than Zeus.
Zeus, annoyed at losing every exchange, once again sped away in a burst of lightning.
Adrian, however, didn't follow this time.
He was stronger at wider distances so he was actually glad about Zeus speeding away.
As soon as Zeus materialized again, he extended his palm, pointing it at Adrian, and said… [Titan's might: Hepta lightning wave] A heptagon came into formation, a net of lightning that covered the entire sky, aiming at Adrian.
Adrian extended his palm and the sword he had let go of earlier came back to his hand.
Adrian pointed it at the net and said… [Divine Demon sword art: second form] [Moon fairy's charm] A flash of lightning emitted from the tip, capturing everything in its radius, including the giant next of light.
The skill was purely defensive and it helped confuse those that were caught up in the range of the light.
The next of lightning confused, clashed with each other and the tendrils caused a reaction to occur which caused a series of explosions to shake the sky but none of them did anything to their intended target who was preparing his next move right away.
Seeing his attack fail, Zeus hurriedly cast another move.
[Titan's wrath: Fall of thunder] Once again, the sky was covered in lightning, extending from Zeus's hands.
It was a major move and not something to be taken lightly.
But the good news was that Adrian wasn't going to take it lightly.
However, he was also aware of the fact that such a clash would destroy the fragment, slowly if he hoped for the better if it didn't explode outright.
Adrian was also about to execute his move when he felt movement around him.
He turned to see the six weapons, the gauntlets, the bow, the spear, the staff, the cane, and last but not least, the dagger.
Before Adrian could think of anything, they began to combine.
The intensity of the light covered the entire world and even those on the outside could see the intense reaction of light.
Adrian, however, didn't close his eyes.
He kept them open and kept looking at what was happening.
The dagger made the blade of the weapon while the other weapons broke down to make a cane, an exquisite one at that, and soon, there was a pristine white weapon, emitting power beyond anything else.
"I was wondering where you were," Adrian said as he took hold of the scythe that came into form after the combination of all the weapons.
Adrian felt the power coursing through it and although independently they were focused on mana, when combined, the scythe began to draw the power of death from Adrian.
It was still white in color and equally pristine but the power flowing through it was anything but pristine.
The destruction being emitted from the scythe even distracted Zeus as little as he felt the familiar power from Adrian.
The power he could never wield even though they came from the same origin.
That fact only annoyed him more and he put more of his power into the lightning strike.
The intense and dense lightning began to become even denser at the anger that Zeus currently felt.
Adrian, on the other hand, let the power of death freely flow into the scythe.
The destructive power that swallowed everything, even reality was something that even Adrian was careful of.
He was sure that he would be able to counter Zeus's attack with this attack of his.
Of course, the world would still be in danger but it wouldn't be as fast as if he used the power of life.
Of course, the contradiction remained that life was gentle whereas death was destructive, but death was precise and calm while life was erratic.
Whereas death would seep into something and destroy it from within, life would destroy everything in the vicinity, disregarding whether the intended target was destroyed or not.
Finally accumulated, Zeus was ready to throw his ultimate attack when Adrian also slashed with the scythe, making the powers collide with each other.
[Scythe of destruction: The Eternal King] Clash!!!
And then the clash brought nothing but destruction on both sides.
