278: It’s not over 278: It’s not over Chapter 278 With her mouth wide open, Michelle couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

There was no definitive way of knowing their students’ ranks but there was no need to do so anyway.

Those who accomplished higher ranks wouldn’t remain quiet.

They would flaunt and let the entire world know let alone just the academy.

But, now she was seeing a couple of students going toe to toe against Zeus, the threat of threats, an existence who even the apostles and saints couldn’t defeat, and winning.

And the most surprising one was Rose.

The one who could somehow turn herself into lightning, something even the emperor of the holy empire could not do even though he was a thunder aura blessed.

And the most surprising thing was the waves of mana written on the magical artifact that let them know the situation inside the test artifact.

S+.

Although her rank read S+, she was stronger than that.

Almost as if she was on the verge of SS rank or she was even at the SS- and just her mana was holding her back.

Whatever the case may be, she was strong and not just her.

Alicia, Sophien, Laura, and Asmara were also at the A rank while their actual strength was more than that.

“Am I….

hallucinating?” She couldn’t help but question herself and the man next to her who was also standing with his expression full of amazement.

“If you are, then we are both in the same dream,” Desmond replied.

It wasn’t just them who were jaw-smacked.

The entire staff that was watching the ongoing test was surprised as hell.

If it was just barely going against Zeus, then it would have made sense since there were so many special students in that class but the current ones fighting weren’t all special, and Rose, the strongest among them, wasn’t definitely special in the least.

To them at least.

“What did they do all that time?” Michelle couldn’t help but ask no one in particular but just left the question out.

No one else understood but Desmond did.

The students who surprised them with their strengths were just Rose, Alicia, Asmara, Laura, and Sophien.

And the one thing they all had in common was a certain white-haired boy.

They were all on an extensive leave for almost two months which annoyed Desmond quite a lot since he just thought they were abusing their status but he now came to the realization of the truth.

They weren’t fooling around but growing stronger.

More than any of them could have made them.

So while Michelle questioned what happened during that time, Desmond questioned what Adrian did to all of them in that short amount of time.

They weren’t just strong.

They were all perfect.

So much so that Desmond wasn’t confident in going against Rose by himself.

He was half certain he would lose.

The other half saw a very difficult battle in which he wouldn’t lose, but he wouldn’t win either.

“Sir!!!” While everyone was busy being amazed by the magical hologram showcasing the test, an unfortunate soul who had nothing else to do but to monitor the mana fluctuations in the artifact yelled.

“What?” Desmond snapped out of his reverie and asked.

“The mana fluctuations in the artifact are changing.” The employee reported.

“Changing how?” Michelle asked.

“It’s rising.” The employee replied.

“So?” Desmond asked.

“It’s not caused by mana uprising.

Something else is increasing in there causing mana to spiral out of control.” The employee reported while also trying to take a fresh chart of the fluctuations.

“What would happen in that case?” Michelle asked.

“According to the analysis, the strange power belongs to Zeus.

His power is increasing.” The employee replied.

“So what?

We always knew it would increase.

It is supposed to.” Desmond said.

“Yes, but not this fast.

By the end of the test, his strength was supposed to rise up to SS+ rank.

By this time, his power level should only be S from S-.” The employee once again gave the reason for his distress.

“What is it now?” Desmond asked, a bad feeling creeping up to his heart.

“SS-.” The employee replied.

“Also,” Before Desmond could even start to think about what he said, the employee continued, “We cannot find any life signals.” “What?!” Michelle yelled because she understood.

“There is none in there which means the students have mended with the artifact.

They’re part of it now.” The employee said.

“What does that mean?” One of the other teachers asked.

It wasn’t Michelle who replied because she was too busy checking the details of the fluctuations.

Instead, it was Desmond who replied with a somber expression, “It means if they die in the artifact, they die in real life too.” ~~ Rose felt something.

Something ominous and strong.

Strong mostly which was the cause of the ominous feeling as well.

She could feel the power coming from Zeus even though it wasn’t mana.

It was ethereal, fierce yet calm and collected.

It was the true power of lightning.

As soon as Zeus opened his eyes, the sky began to form millions of lightning bolts which were on the smaller scale but with there being so many of them, it looked like the entire sky was made of light blue lightning.

The thunder crackled, the entire world feeling the tendrils of electricity reacting in their body which might have also been the cause for the ground to shake.

Zeus looked at them, everyone, especially at Rose, and raised his hand.

Feeling something no one in them could block, Rose yelled, “Everyone, close to each other!

NOW!” Laura didn’t hesitate and did what she was asked and so did Layla, which compelled others to do the same.

Those who weren’t part of that group had seen and felt Rose’s power so defying her wouldn’t be a good move.

Everyone did as asked and they all formed a tightly shut circle.

Alicia raised her hand and created a shield around her to which Sera helped a little since she also had the same power as Alicia.

The other mages chipped in and created a sturdy shield around them.

But, Rose and Alicia knew it wasn’t going to help.

The power in that attack was something no one among them would be able to block.

They couldn’t tell what the mana rank of Zeus currently was, but they had a feeling that even if the headmaster of the academy was here, he would have a hard time with that attack.

There was no way they were going to survive.

Still, hope was a little thing everyone was familiar with and they clung to it.

A miracle, they hoped for.

Finally, the long-awaited attack that took about ten seconds to prepare was shot at them, all of them.

The power in it was beyond anything those students could measure up to and even Rose, who was very strong after her recent training session knew that there was no way she would be able to stop that attack.

There was no way for them to deal with that attack except for one.

And Rose didn’t know if it would work because it would be the first time she would be attempting it.

Rose turned into lightning and appeared in front of the shield.

She was faster than the attack but there wasn’t much time as well.

No one was currently faster than her or Zeus so no one could tell what she was about to do except for him but when he saw what she did, his eyes couldn’t help but widen beyond their limits.

Rose caught the lightning bolt with her hands and began to absorb it.

Of course, it was a foolish thing to do since the lightning was too strong for her to manage so it was obvious she took some damage.

However, that damage was manageable with her other attributes that Adrian trained.

Also, she wasn’t absorbing the lightning.

She was passing it through her system.

She did as Adrian taught her.

She coated the lighting in her mana and made it flow from one end of her body to the other end.

“What the…” Before Zeus could mutter fully, his own lightning attack was shot back at him.

Although it wasn’t at full power because some of the damage managed to pass Rose and struck the shield, damaging the students, some of it wreaked havoc in Rose’s system but it was still enough and fast for him to react to it.

Slam!

He was struck with lightning right in the middle of his chest and he was flung away, thrown in the deep, deep forest with injuries unknown.

Rose on the other hand was badly damaged and fell on her knees.

There were black marks on her entire body which suggested that she was burned quite a bit.

As for the others, some managed to hold onto their consciousness but most couldn’t.

However, luckily for Rose, one of those who didn’t was Alicia.

She hurriedly made her way to Rose, falling halfway through because of her injuries only to be caught and supported by Sophien and Asmara from either side.

They supported her and brought her to Rose who wasn’t looking very good from the looks of it.

She was inches away from death when Alicia began to squeeze the last of her mana to heal her.

It wasn’t enough to heal her, but it was enough to pull her out of death’s hands.

“That… was amazing.” Laura had come behind Rose some time and was supporting her from behind as she said.

“I….tt….s n…o….” Rose tried to speak but her vocal cords were too fried for her to form an audible word.

“What?” Sophien asked.

“….B….e….hi…..” Rose said again but they couldn’t understand once again.

“What are you saying, Rose?” Alicia worriedly asked.

“I don’t understand what she’s saying but I think she’s trying to warn you how her attack didn’t work.” They heard a voice that spoke in an unknown language.

They hurriedly turned around, only to see Zeus slowly making his way to them, his body heavily injured and a cold look on his face.

But the worst detail that the girls managed to notice was that he was healing slowly.

Zeus was going back to his peak condition while they were still heavily injured.
