263: Familial trust 263: Familial trust Chapter 263 Andrew left, disappointed but more relieved than anything at the refusal of Ryan Gates, otherwise known as the lightning emperor, Zean.

Gabriel, however, didn’t.

He remained in the office and waited until Andrew was out of the range so he couldn’t listen to the upcoming conversation.

“Why is everyone so intent on making him feel like an outcast?” Gabriel asked, dissatisfaction evident in his voice.

“What do you mean?” Zean asked, acting oblivious to the obvious question of Gabriel.

“You didn’t listen because you were uninterested.

You didn’t listen because it was him.” Gabriel said.

“Well, of course, I did.

You don’t expect me to make a monster stronger than he already is, don’t you?” Zean blatantly asked.

“He’s not a monster,” Gabriel said.

“He is.

Your father may have given to the fatherly feelings of his but we haven’t.

We know the truth behind that boy and he shouldn’t exist.” Zean said.

“You mean the truth as in Dad’s libido?” Gabriel asked.

“You’re an intelligent person, Gabriel.

That’s why, you don’t need me to tell you what kind of a man your father is.

You know that better than anyone.” Zean replied, pointing out the obvious fact that Gabriel wasn’t fooling anyone.

“Then what’s the truth?” Gabriel asked.

“The truth is that boy shouldn’t exist.

He came to this world for one purpose and one purpose only; destruction.

It’s in his nature.

Just because he doesn’t kill doesn’t mean he wouldn’t either.

He will.

One day.

And unlike you, he wouldn’t have a good reason.” Zean said.

As much as Gabriel wanted to deny it, deep down, he knew that Andrew was suppressing something.

Something Andrew himself didn’t know was there.

“There’s always a purpose of existence.

Everyone has a role to fulfill.

Some have to become villains while some have to become heroes.

When the time comes for their roles to play, they choose to do it or not.

However, there are some who cannot deny their destiny.

They will always fulfill it.

They are born without a choice.

Andrew is born without a choice.” Zean said without looking at Gabriel.

Gabriel wasn’t a young man.

Well, in reality, he was, but in fragments, he had lived millions of years, and with age, came a lot of wisdom.

He easily knew what Zean meant and it was also very easy for him to know the true meaning behind Zean’s words.

Gabriel, without saying a word, left the office and made his way down to the garage.

On the way, he kept on thinking just one thing.

What role did he have?

What made him important?

And even after a long time, he had never arrived at an answer.

************** “You okay?” Aliya asked Gabriel who was quiet throughout their coffee break.

Gabriel didn’t know what to say so he asked, “What purpose do I have?” Aliya was intrigued by that question so she asked, “Why do you ask?” “Something Master Zean said has been bothering me since that day.” Gabriel recounted what happened, what Zean said, and how he left speechless with these questions.

“Ask Dad.” Aliya simply said.

“I know what he will say,” Gabriel said.

Gabriel knew what his father would say and he also knew that it wasn’t his answer.

It was his father’s answer.

His answer had to come from him.

And that was what his father’s reply would be.

“Then you already have the solution.

All you need to do is follow the equation.” Aliya said.

“Do you know what your purpose is?” Gabriel asked.

“Yes,” Aliya replied.

“What?” Gabriel curiously asked.

“To do your share of work.” Aliya pointed at the pile of files Gabriel brought with him.

Gabriel coughed through his thick skin and asked, “Other than that?” “I was never curious about it.

I will know when the time comes.” Aliya replied.

Gabriel nodded and got back to enjoying his latte with Aliya.

************** “I heard he’s engaged.” A blue eyes stunning woman said while Aliya and Gabriel were having dinner with her.

Their father wasn’t home today so their mother initiated that conversation, “Are you asking because you’re happy?” Gabriel asked.

“No.

I’m not happy in the least.” His mother replied.

“Why?

Why can’t you just be happy like a normal mother?” Gabriel asked.

“Because I’m not his mother.” His mother replied.

“But he’s your husband’s son,” Gabriel said.

“He’s nothing but a mistake.” His mother replied.

“Mom.” Aliya said but Gabriel wasn’t too happy with that reply, “Yeah, Dad’s mistake.

Yet you’re adamant about blaming him.

Why can’t you just say you’re at him because he reminds you of the fact that Dad cheated on you?” “Gabe!” Aliya said, trying to shut him down before the situation got out of hand but it was already out of hand as a powerful rush blew both of them as their mother’s blue eyes shined more.

“Watch your tongue, young man.

I will not sit here quietly while you insult my husband.” Gabriel knew his mother was truly angry.

It had never been like this before.

He had seen her angry but it was never like this, this was fury he had never seen before.

Gabriel bowed his head and remained silent.

After a few minutes, when none of her children said anything, she stood up and left the dining area, leaving Aliya and Gabriel alone.

“Gabe,” Aliya said.

“I know.

I was over the line.” Gabriel knew he had gotten angry but he always managed to control himself in such situations.

It wasn’t new that his mother hadn’t accepted Andrew and she never will.

Although it made him angry, he never said anything like he said today.

***************** “Maybe I should tell him.” Gabriel’s father said while he and his wife were in their room, getting ready for bed.

“Tell him what?

The truth?

Can he not trust his own father without an explanation?” His wife wasn’t so pleased with that though.

She wasn’t just angry that Gabriel insulted his own father, her husband.

What truly angered her was the fact that he didn’t trust him.

“Maybe, once the situation clears up–” The man began to say but his wife interjected, “You don’t need to clear it up.

We’re a family and if we can’t trust each other, then we better make them go their merry way.” The man knew how stubborn his wife could be and there was no way he was going around her back and telling Gabriel everything.

He knew she would be mad and he didn’t want her mad of all people.

He was scared.

“Let’s stop talking about this topic.” His wife said next and he nodded.

She continued, “And let’s talk about this.” Saying so, she dropped the robe covering her.

“Glup!!!” He gulped.

A sight he had seen more than a million times still did the trick.

Like an animal, he forgot about everything else afterward.

************* “Morning…” Aliya said with dark circles under her eyes.

“Morning.” Gabriel also said in a depressing manner.

“I take it you didn’t sleep last night?” Gabriel asked.

“Even after using all my power to block my ears, I could still hear them,” Aliya said.

A common problem with them.

Enhanced hearing so no matter how small of a whisper even miles away, they could clearly hear it.

“And you?” Aliya asked.

“I think it’s a mental thing.

I teleported to the other end of the world and I still felt like I could hear them.” Gabriel explained his horrifying experience.

“You’re lucky you can teleport.

Take me with you next time.” Aliya said while looking at him with murderous eyes.

“Sure,” Gabriel said as he passed Aliya a strong cup of coffee.

************** “You okay?” Andrew asked as he saw a sleepy Gabriel.

It wasn’t like Gabriel couldn’t do months without sleeping, He wouldn’t sleep for a month and he would still look fresh as hell.

But this wasn’t because of his sleep.

It was more like mental as he had told Aliya, “Just didn’t sleep well last night.” “Well, I slept like a baby.” Andrew bragged.

“I don’t doubt that.

Especially now that you have a mommy.” Gabriel didn’t forget to tease Andrew even in his exhausted state.

“Oh, I wouldn’t even get angry over that.

You were right.

Plays can be exciting.” Andrew said.

Gabriel turned to look at him in dissatisfaction as he said, “I liked it better when you took it like a desperate vir*in.” “Yeah, well, I’m not one anymore.” Andrew said before he remembered, “Oh, and, uh, before I forget.

Julie says she wants to have dinner at our house.

She invited you.” “Our house?” Gabriel asked.

“Yeah.

She moved in with me.” Andrew said.

“Haaa…” Gabriel let out a long sigh before he couldn’t help but ask, “Are you sure you’re not moving too fast with this?

Maybe it’s just momentary.

Maybe you both might lose it sooner than you think.

You know; one day, the spark might just vanish.” Gabriel said.

“Oh, I doubt it would vanish soon thanks to your ideas.” Andrew said before he added, “Besides.

She makes me happy.

I doubt I will ever get tired of her.” “Let’s hope so.” Gabriel sincerely said.

“I really do,” Andrew said with a happy smile.
