The Archangel of Death - Chapter 257
257: Courage 257: Courage Chapter 257 “I’m telling you, if you don’t say anything, I will,” Gabriel said as he and Andrew rode the elevator, the Chairman’s private elevator to his office.
“And I would really appreciate it if you were to remain quiet,” Andrew said.
“For what?” Gabriel said.
“So that I could get my word in,” Andrew said.
“Oh please, we both know you go quiet in front of him,” Andrew said.
“Maybe you should take some lessons,” Andrew said.
“Sure,” Gabriel said before he went silent.
“…” When silence extended between both brothers and they drew closer to their destination, Andrew asked, “You’re gonna talk, aren’t you?” “Absolutely,” Gabriel said.
“Great,” Andrew said.
Just as they finished, the elevator opened up to the completely black office and if sunlight hadn’t been getting in from the glass windows, one would think there was nothing in that space because everything in there was black.
Andrew and Gabriel both walked in, Andrew with a little hesitation while Gabriel looked like he couldn’t wait to get into a fight.
“That’s a sight you don’t see every day.” At the desk, behind a computer, a handsome dark-haired man was sitting whose piercing black eyes couldn’t have been more of a pull-in.
“Why didn’t you tell me he was in jail?” Gabriel didn’t bother playing mind games and asked.
“Thank you, son.
It was nice seeing you too.
Now leave us alone.” The man said before he raised his head from the computer screen and looked at Gabriel.
“I’m not leaving,” Gabriel said.
“Of course, you are.” The man said with a smile before he waved his hand and the next moment, Gabriel was in the elevator that was closed.
“Oh, hell no.” Gabriel said before he started to pound on the elevator door and began to shout, “Dad!
I swear to god, open this right now!
I’m telling you, open this or there will be blood!” Ding.
The door opened, just not to what Gabriel had wanted.
He was in the lobby of the building and everyone in the lobby was looking at him strangely.
But that didn’t matter to him as he began to yell, “Anderson!
Take me up, now!” But no response came and Gabriel was left pressing buttons of the elevator like a madman and kept shouting, further cementing his image as a madman in the eyes of the observers.
Back in the office, the man turned his eyes back to the computer screen and kept silent.
Andrew also remained silent, his head down, not daring to look at the man who was supposed to be his father.
“A prison?
That’s not something I quite expected from you.” The man said before he added, “I mean, I expected Gabriel to go to prison but he was smart enough to cover up all his kills or crimes.
And he never jaywalked so I don’t know about that.” “Are you disappointed that I got caught?” Andrew asked his father.
“Haa.” The man chuckled with a smile and said, “Of course not.
Though I do find the act of taking the fall for someone else a little stupid.” “…” Andrew remained quiet.
Everything Gabriel said was true.
Their father knew everything.
Even the truth about his prison time.
“But, you have always been the messiah of justice and self-sacrifice.
I don’t judge you for that because that’s the path you have chosen yourself.” The man said, still looking at the computer screen.
Andrew once again remained quiet.
He couldn’t tell if his father was interested in him or not.
He certainly knew everything as if he was keeping his eyes on him but his current attitude didn’t say that.
‘If you don’t speak for yourself, I will.’ He remembered Gabriel’s words but he wasn’t so sure whether to say them or not.
As he told Gabriel, he wasn’t as brave as him.
But, just today, he decided to be.
“And I am proud of what I did.
I stood up for my friends.” Andrew raised his head and said, looking at the man.
The man also raised his head with a smile and said, “Yeah.
Friends always have your back, no matter what.
Even if you commit jaywalking.” “There’s murder in there too you know.” Andrew couldn’t help but say.
“Yeah, but Jaywalking?
Seriously?
At least indecent exposure should have been the limit.
It would have been better.” The man said.
Andrew couldn’t help but look at the man with a gaze that said, ‘Seriously?’ “Anyway, playtime is over.
Go talk to your brother, he will set you up with everything.” The man said as he turned his attention back to the computer screen.
Andrew nodded and left without another word.
He didn’t want to be kicked out like Gabriel.
He pressed the elevator button and when it opened, there was an angry Gabriel in there who held a sword and a spear in his hands with a shield around his back, he looked like he was about to go to war.
“I’m not leaving here until I see blood!!!” Gabriel yelled and ran out of the elevator to the man who again waved his hand without looking up from the screen, and both Gabriel and Andrew were in the lobby the next moment where Gabriel was running, yelling with a pair of weapons in his hands.
“What the?!
Come down, you coward!
Fight me with honor!” Gabriel began to yell once again in a lobby full of people and Andrew, who stood in his place, couldn’t help but cover his face.
He hadn’t been more embarrassed than that day before.
**************** “What did he say?” Gabriel asked.
“All I can tell you is that your advice worked,” Andrew said.
“What advice?” Gabriel curiously asked.
Andrew remained quiet to that though because he knew how bashful his brother was.
That was just his way of showing his love, masked in anger and dissatisfaction.
He knew that their father would respect, or at least pay more attention to Andrew if he were to stand up to him.
And when Andrew did that, his father really did remove his eyes from the work and paid attention to him.
“Well, anyway, you get settled in.
I’m gonna head to my own work now.” Gabriel said after leaving Andrew’s office and heading to his own.
*********** Andrew was busy with his work when he checked that he needed a pair of signs for some important documents.
He wasn’t supposed to be given important work but the Chairman changed the instructions at the last second so Andrew was getting important work as well.
However, he still didn’t have the authority to sign those documents.
The only person who did aside from the chairman was the vice chairman and she was someone he wasn’t very much looking forward to meeting.
Still, fear of disappointment was greater than ever.
He stood up and made his way to the second top floor of the building.
The top floor was reserved for the Chairman and no one other than the chairman was allowed there.
However, the second floor belonged to the Vice chairman and unlike the Chairman, the Vice chairman had many people working for her.
As the elevator arrived on the floor, he made his way to the office of the Vice chairman.
Along the way, everyone just looked at him but no one stopped him.
However, just because they didn’t say anything didn’t mean they respected him as well.
He knew the reason for that.
He didn’t belong there.
He had the position they could only dream of yet he was there overnight.
It was clear what everyone thought and while everyone had their own theories, they were too scared to say those out loud.
Not of Andrew though, no.
Another menace in the building who everyone feared as well as admired was none other than Gabriel and Gabriel had personally announced in the building in the morning that if anyone said anything about Andrew, he would personally make their lives hell and he wasn’t talking about the good kind of hell where there were scantily dressed demonesses.
Andrew finally arrived at the office of the Vice Chairman but he was stopped outside by the secretary who asked, “Can I get the reason for your visit?” She didn’t add a ‘Sir’ at the end which clearly relayed her feelings towards Andrew.
Andrew nodded and said, “I needed some documents signed.
Since I can’t disturb the Chairman, I had to go with the next person in charge.” The secretary nodded and said, “Please wait for a few minutes while I confirm with the madam,” And called the Vice Chairman on the landline after deliberately waiting for a few minutes.
She had just put the receiver down and was about to tell Andrew to head in when Gabriel arrived and said, “Hey, bro.
Wha’cha doin’ here?” “Just here to get some documents signed,” Andrew said.
“Then what are you doing here?” Gabriel asked.
“Just waiting for confirmation.
Can’t just barge in there, right?” Andrew said with a joking smile.
Gabriel on the other hand, didn’t have a good look on his face.
