256: Brothers 256: Brothers Chapter 256 “Assault, Robbery, Murder” A man in a suit began to read from a file while the wet man sat on the other side, quietly listening.

“Kidnapping, Domestic violence, congratulations on getting married by the way.” The man added a comment before he continued.

“Burglary, Larceny, Arson, Fraud, Embezzlement, Money laundering, Possession of controlled substance, Public le*dness, DUI, Disorderly conduct, Trespassing, Gun trafficking.” “And the worst of all, loitering and Jaywalking.” The man closed the file and said, “Jaywalking.” “There’s murder in there too.” The wet man said, “Jaywalking!” The man said in a loud voice before he said, “Who the hell gets arrested for jaywalking?

Even Bat*an wouldn’t go after you for jaywalking.” “Again, murder and ra*e in there too.” The wet man said once again.

“And you know what the worst part is?” The man leaned in and asked to which the wet man asked, “What?” “The people who put you in here are out there doing these things anyway.” The man said before he added, “And they’re not even jaywalking.” “Look, I know you’re angry and all but, these are my own crimes.

Let me deal with them.” The wet man said.

“Oh hell no.

You’re coming with me, one way or another.” The man said.

“What ways?” The wet man asked.

“Either you come with me quietly, or I destroy everything in the vicinity, kill hundreds of people, make the greatest prison break in history, knock you out, and take you home.” The man said.

“I don’t like the sound of the second option.” The wet man said.

“The first one it is then.” The man said and stood up.

“Gabe, I’m not going out there.” The wet man said.

Gabe, the other man, better known as Gabriel, looked at the wet man for a while and said, “The hell you’re not.” Gabriel sat down again and said, “Either you come with me now, or you come with me after all those people who put you in here are dead.” “I put myself in here, Gabriel.

Me.” The wet man said.

“Andrew,” Gabriel leaned in and softly said, “I will kill everyone responsible, and even if I don’t find evidence of your innocence, I don’t need it in the first place.” There was a certain glint in Gabriel’s eyes that Andrew, the wet man was clearly familiar with.

A gaze that said he would burn the world if he had to, to do what he wanted.

There was nothing Andrew feared more than that gaze.

Not the person himself, but that gaze.

It was rare for that emotion to appear in Gabriel’s eyes but whenever it did, people died.

Of course, Gabriel never killed an innocent person.

But to Andrew, who abhorred killing, killing anyone was bad, innocent or guilty never mattered.

“Does he know?” Andrew asked.

“Of course, he knows.” Gabriel said while leaning back, “I mean, he hasn’t said anything but I know he knows.

He our father, and whether I like it or not, he keeps eyes on us all the time.” “So he didn’t tell you?” Andrew asked.

If their father knew and didn’t tell Gabriel, that only meant one of two things.

Either he was respecting Andrew’s wishes, or he was scheming something.

Both of the boys leaned on the latter part.

“No, he didn’t.

Which reminds me that I have a bone to pick with him over this.” Gabriel said with dissatisfaction on his face.

“Don’t.

You know you won’t win.” Andrew said.

“Yeah, well, neither would you.

So quit stalling.

You’re coming with me.” Gabriel said as he stood up and made his way to the guard in the corner.

“Gabe,” Andrew called to stop him but Gabriel didn’t stop.

He stopped in front of the guard and said, “Take me to your warden.” “Right this way, sir.” The guard respectfully led Gabriel away while Andrew could only watch in silence.

************** Andrew sat in a luxurious car, a frown on his face as he looked at the newcomer who entered the driver seat with a smug smile.

“I don’t like it when you do that.

play with people’s minds.” Andrew said.

“And you should have known by now how useless doing that is.” Gabriel said before he added, “Besides, a little memory altercation doesn’t hurt anybody.” “What did you do?” Andrew asked.

“Oh, I just said that you died in a fire,” Gabriel replied.

“What fire?” Andrew asked.

Boom!

An explosion resounded from the prison.

When Andrew turned to look back, it was the wing where Andrew was.

“Gabriel!” He turned to Gabriel and shouted to which Gabriel squinted his face and said, “Relax.

No one died.” “Are you sure?!” Andrew was still not satisfied with that reply.

“A little burn mark wouldn’t kill anybody.

Besides, only those who doused you in cold water got them.” Gabriel nonchalantly said before he started the car and calmly drove away.

Andrew could only look at Gabriel incredulously because he didn’t know what to say to that.

*************** “He wants to see me?” Andrew asked when they arrived in front of an apartment building.

“He’s your father.

Go see him whenever you want.” Gabriel said.

“…” Andrew remained silent to which Gabriel said, “What?

Still afraid he would be disappointed in you.

Even if he would be, you’re his son.

You have all the right to see him just as he has all the right to be mad or disappointed at you.” “You don’t understand,” Andrew said.

“What?

That he irresponsibly made you?

Considers you a mistake?

Is that what you think?” Gabriel asked.

“Yes!” Andrew yelled but he was soon to calm down and said, “Yes.

I fear he would reject me.” “Which you would never know if you never go and meet him,” Gabriel said.

“I’m….

not as… brave as you are,” Andrew said.

“You’re not the mistake.

He is the one who screwed up.” Gabriel said with a slight fury in his words.

“Don’t talk about him like that.

He isn’t a bad person.” Andrew defended his father, their father.

“Yeah right.

He only cheated on my mother, with yours, and then abandoned both of you.

He’s a saint.” Gabriel said.

“…” Andrew didn’t say anything.

As much as he would have loved to refuse that statement, he was just too overwhelmed at the moment to continue that topic.

“Go in.

Freshen up and get dressed.

We’re going to the office.” Gabriel said.

Andrew nodded and left the car.

Since it would take some time, he left for his own home to freshen up before heading off to the office.

A giant mansion was nowhere to be seen.

What the world expected from a world-class family to live in, didn’t exist.

Instead, it was a decently big house in the white plains.

No big mansion, but it was still a very big house for four people to live in.

Gabriel parked in the driveway and entered the house.

As soon as he did, a foul stench assaulted his nose which made him involuntarily scrunch it.

He didn’t need to be told the reason for that smell.

His mother was cooking.

“You’re back.” His mother said from the kitchen when he passed by to go to his room and as stealthy as he was, he was still detected by his mother.

“Yeah.” He was flustered upon being caught and said, “Just dropped by to get a new pair of clothes.

I have to get to the office very soon.” “Mhm.” His mother nodded and asked, “How did it go with the boy?” His flustered expression disappeared.

What appeared in its stead was another expression full of distaste as he said, “He’s dad’s son.” “Of course he is.

I just asked how is he?” His mother asked from the kitchen.

“Are you worried about him?” Gabriel asked.

“Not in the least.” His mother said.

“Then you don’t need to know,” Gabriel said before he left for his room.

He entered, changed, and left.

He made his way back to the apartment building where Andrew was already waiting.

“What happened?” Andrew asked when he saw Gabriel’s face upon entering.

“Nothing,” Gabriel said.

“Nothing means something.

And unfortunately, since I don’t have a mind-reading ability or the social skills to read a person, I can only assume.

And knowing you, I assume you got into an argument regarding me.” Andrew lengthily explained Gabriel’s expression.

Gabriel looked at him with narrowed eyes and said, “When we arrive, you’re making a way to his office and asking for what’s yours.

What’s rightfully yours.” “Haha.” Andrew couldn’t help but chuckle and said, “You know him better than I do so you should know that nothing’s ours.” “Then ask for a position in the company.” Gabriel insisted.

“Which he would give to me without a doubt.

But do you think I can do anything in that spot?” Andrew asked.

“You don’t need qualifications when you’re the chairman’s son,” Gabriel said.

“You don’t even believe that,” Andrew said.

“….” That was the truth.

Gabriel believed in himself his whole life, never relying on his father’s name so he was the man who believed he didn’t need his name either.

His current words were nothing but a contradiction to his own words.

By the time they stopped, they had arrived at the biggest building in Manhattan, the Smith Enterprises.
