The Archangel of Death - Chapter 254
254: Zeus (1) 254: Zeus (1) Chapter 254 ‘This looks familiar.’ [What does?] Everything.
Everything around me wasn’t.
I mean, it was simple and straight forest all around me.
Not this.
That.
I could feel something from way over there.
From the opposite side of where the test was supposed to begin, from where ‘Zeus’ was supposed to appear.
Now, never in my life had I such a strong feeling of going over there.
As if I would be missing something, something very crucial to me if I didn’t go there right at this moment.
So without a wait for even a moment, I took a step in that direction and followed the feeling deep down in my heart.
************** “We have decided to follow Rose,” Layla expressed her decision when it came to the leader selection for the test.
They had an hour to do so before the test began with Zeus’s appearance.
“What?” Sera found it ridiculous.
It was true that Rose was strongest among all of them but she wasn’t an apostle nor she was any sort of special person.
She was just a Count of the empire.
Although that was a pretty big position for a student, it was still beneath those of the apostles because they didn’t just belong to one nation.
They belonged to all of them.
In simpler terms, their position was higher than Rose so they couldn’t let someone who was beneath them lead them.
It wasn’t a matter of pride either.
It was just how things worked.
“I don’t care.
She is elected by me as the leader candidate.
And I’m not alone.” Layla said before she pointed at the rest.
Sophien and Sasha raised their hands which shocked others but what truly shocked them was when Zefton, despite being a little grumpy, also raised his hand.
“Ahem!” Layla, not so subtly, coughed which instantly removed the expression on Zefton’s face and it was replaced by a smile that creeped others out more because he wasn’t the one to smile.
But when they saw Layla blush at that smile, they all had one thought collectively, ‘She is crazy’.
Laura and Alicia also raised their hands which was to be expected as they were said to be in a relationship with Adrian.
Asmara followed, and Cassandra and Fiona also joined.
With these major players on Rose’s side, she was already the winner when Derrell raised his hand as well, but he was just quiet the entire time.
With the major players in Rose’s favor, the setting was set, and seeing them, many of the students also favored Rose to be the leader, even though they didn’t know what was going on.
“Adrian put you up to this, did he not?” Eric said, without saying anything about their little play.
Being a leader in this test mattered.
It mattered a lot.
It was an achievement that held a lot of value and if one could direct such an event and also make it a success, their achievement would be on a whole other level.
It could clearly be seen that Eric’s authority was being undermined so that he could limit himself.
After all, Eric already had quite a reputation for being the strongest Apostle.
With this in the mix, he was as good as the next duke of his own kingdom or much more.
But if his achievements were limited, all of that would be gone.
But it was another fact that he didn’t care about any of this.
All he cared about was the future and in that future, Adrian was supposed to be dead so if he wasn’t, then that meant the future he was preparing for might never come and a war might once again follow.
To stop that war, however, Eric needed to mean something.
If he was so strictly undermined, then he wouldn’t be able to achieve an important position that might earn him some respect and value, while also giving his words a certain level of importance, a certain great level of importance.
“Whether he did or he did not, our decision remains the same.” Layla said before she turned to Adrian and said, “Right, Adrian?” “…” No white haired boy could be spotted.
“Where did he go?” Layla said.
Adrian was just standing next to them but then he disappeared and no one had a clue.
It wasn’t like he was standing at the end, he was standing in the middle of everyone.
But he was gone so quietly that none of them could even think of the next step.
Boom!!!
A thunder fell from the sky and the sky began to split apart.
As a tear appeared in the cloudy sky, darkness, nothing more, could be seen from the other side.
From the darkness, from that tear, a man appeared, dressed in a strange suit that no one recognized.
Well, almost no one.
‘A three piece?’ Sophien was taken aback when he saw the familiar yet modern appearance of the man.
He was covered in blood and injured, his own perhaps.
He was panting, as if he just escaped death or just escaped pain, a lot of pain.
“Where is this?” He said in an unfamiliar language that no one could decipher except for two people in the crowd.
One with a misconception, ‘The language of the gods,’ Alicia thought when she heard the man but she still didn’t know what that meant.
And… ‘American?’ Sophien said inwardly as she heard the accent of the man.
And one more strange thing that no one managed to notice.
The test had started half an hour ago.
Sniff… The man sniffed as if trying to pick up a smell before his gaze turned to the crowd.
Specifically, towards Rose, Alicia, Sophien, Asmara, and Laura.
He examined them one by one before he said, “You have the smell of him on you.
What is your relationship with Archangel?” Although the rest didn’t understand, Sophien was quick to connect the obvious dots.
The only ones he looked at were the girls.
Girls who had only one thing in common between them.
A certain boy named Adrian.
“Where is he?!!!” Thunder fell as the man yelled and the ground soon began to shake.
Not just the ground, but the entire artifact began to shake.
“Wrath of the Titan: Thunder Blaze!” And then, everything went white.
********************** “Where is he going?” Michelle questioned when she saw Adrian heading in the opposite direction of the test.
“Why would he head to the end of the artifact?” Michelle questioned.
The speed at which Adrian was running was massive.
It was even faster than hers.
Although it came to be a surprise, many thought it was just an artifact that boosted his power.
However, Sirius knew it wasn’t an artifact.
That speed was Adrian’s very own.
But that fact was soon shadowed by the fact that Adrian was running in the opposite direction of the test.
To the part where the artifact ended.
Well, it technically didn’t end there.
But no one, not even the greatest space blessed, Rafael of the holy empire couldn’t go past that barrier.
“Why would he head over to the barrier?” Sirius wondered.
It wasn’t just him.
Everyone in the room was wondering why Adrian was doing that when Sirius remembered his conversation with Rafael.
A conversation about Adrian possibly being an oracle who could look into the future.
‘Does he really know something about the future?’ Sirius couldn’t help but wonder.
The way Adrian had done everything so far only cemented that theory.
His performance in each test, from the orientation to the tests, was as if he knew exactly how everything was going to happen and he did it differently.
But no one, and Sirius knew better than anyone, could perceive the future to that extent.
Not even the greatest oracle that the empire possessed.
Even she could only look into many possibilities of the future.
Well, she ‘could’ but not anymore since she was now out of commission.
Sirius turned his gaze back to Adrian when he came to a stop.
A barrier, then not even the greatest power of humanity could break.
Adrian touched it.
Then he remained still.
And then he started to do something.
He began to pull something out of his subspace that everyone thought came out due to his space magic.
After that, he started to set some things in some strange fashions and after that, something passed through those things that Sirius couldn’t quite tell but he perceived it as a wave.
That invisible wave struck the barrier and soon, the barrier began to contort.
“Impossible,” Sirius muttered as before his eyes, the barrier began to open up.
However, before he could do anything about it, the instructor who was observing the mana fluctuations of the artifact hurriedly yelled, “Sir, there is something wrong with the artifact.” A bad feeling dwelled but Sirius asked anyway, “What?” “The artifact,” The instructor replied before he said with great hesitation, “It closed itself.” “What do you mean it closed itself?” Desmond asked.
“It means the inheritance has begun,” Sirius said in a low voice instead of the instructor.
“What does that mean?” Michelle asked.
Sirius remained in his seat with an expression that couldn’t be explained in words and softly uttered, “It means the students that die in there, die for real as well.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Creation is hard, cheer me up!
