249: The apostle of destruction (Bonus: G.T) 249: The apostle of destruction (Bonus: G.T) Chapter 249 Alastair walked through the corridors of the demon king’s palace, only this time, his destination wasn’t the portal that led to the meeting room of the united races, but the more dilapidated part of the palace where the apostle of destruction resided.

‘I wonder why he lives in a place like this.’ Alastair never understood why his uncle, the prince of the demon race, the demon king’s brother, and the sole apostle of the demon race, the apostle of destruction, whose status was way beyond the simple title of the demon king, chose to live in a place like this and gave his life away so the ambition of the demon king could be fulfilled.

As Alastair arrived, he saw a servant ready with a sack.

He had asked the servant to prepare food and be prepared by the cell of the apostle.

Alastair took the sack of food from the servant and entered the door.

As he did, the familiar scent of urine assaulted his nose but he wasn’t in the least bothered by it.

He was more bothered by the shriveled-up appearance of the old man inside.

He made his way to the old man but before he could arrive beside him, the old man spoke, “Is it you, Alastair?” “Yes, uncle,” Alastair replied, maintaining his current speed.

“Have you come to check up on me?

Your father needs you more than that.” The old man said.

“Father’s fine.” Alastair said before he said, “I think you should stop, uncle.” “The world doesn’t stop just because one wants to.

I have to keep going.” The old man said before he extended his hand and said, “Give what you came here to give and leave.

Your father needs you more.

Otherwise, he might end up making a decision he would later regret.” “I know.” Alastair said before he set the sack beside the apostle of destruction before he asked, “Is it all worth it?” The apostle smiled and replied, “Nothing is worth more than the demon empire.” “Somehow, I don’t agree,” Alastair said before he turned to leave.

“You will soon come to, Alastair.

You will soon come t-” The old man stopped mid-speech before the mana around him began to tremble.

Alastair stopped in his tracks when he saw the motion of mana.

Soon enough, the mana became so erratic that it began to shake the entire room and then, it spread throughout the space.

If Alastair wasn’t mistaken, it would soon spread to the entire palace.

Terrifying, it was.

The powerful mana of the apostle of destruction.

He hadn’t seen such a pure demonic mana ever.

Not even the demon king possessed such pure mana.

“Child… Child… Child… Celina… CelinAAA… CELINAA!!!!” The apostle of destruction kept on saying that while he also trembled fiercely.

His mana began to pierce everything in his vicinity.

Alastair pulled up his own mana to protect himself but his mana was no match for the mana of the apostle of destruction.

The destructive mana began to pierce Alastair’s mana as well and Alastair desperately held on until all his mana was exhausted and he was blown away.

But just as he did, the storm of mana also ended.

However, the old man didn’t stop trembling.

His seizures got worse and worse as time passed.

Alastair hurriedly ran to the old man, forgetting his own injury, and held the old man, “Uncle!

Uncle!

Get in here!!!!!” Alastair yelled at anyone outside with mana in his voice but those on the outside were already dead due to the destructive mana of the apostle.

Alastair’s breath labored as he felt the old man’s life slipping away.

Forgetting about everything, he took the old man in his arms and ran out of his room.

************** “He’s stable for now.

But…” Nastashe hesitated to deliver the news.

While everyone else in the room was calm and collected, one person was emitting threatening vibes across the entire room.

“But…?” Alastair asked with his eyes bloodshot.

“He has used too much of his life force.

Any life force leaving him cannot be replenished anymore.

Even with the world’s tree blessing.

Not to mention, he isn’t compatible with that power as well.” Natasha said.

“What was he saying before he fell in that state?

It must have been something important.” Julianna said.

“Whatever it was, we cannot ask until he regains his consciousness,” Natasha informed.

“Is it possible to wake him up before that, even for a brief moment?

If it is something important, we need to work on it fast.” The dark elf in the room said.

“I wouldn’t recommend it.

The state he is in, if anything is done the wrong way or if any risky move was taken, I cannot guarantee the consequences.” Natasha informed.

“He is our only link to the gods.

If he isn’t awake, then how will we progress in our plans?

We have already faced a setback because of that wretched spawn of your sister.” Julianna said in irritation, saying the last part while she glanced at Astaroth.

“Let us not dig up the skeletons of the past.

For now, we need to deal with this.” Astaroth said, not replying to Julianna’s remark.

Everyone remained quiet.

They couldn’t say another word.

It was true that they all relied on the apostle of destruction.

For centuries, their races hadn’t given birth to any of the apostles.

The saint of light was coveted by the holy nation, the Cortum Empire, and the dark saint was always born in the demon bloodline for some reason.

However, for centuries now, the apostles were also being born in the demon empire.

Although it was a point everyone else from the races found odd and vexing as well, threatened by the second-greatest nation in the entire world, they also relied on them.

With the dark saint gone, their only link to the gods was the apostle now.

The previous apostle was, well, somewhat of a disappointment but the current apostle cared for the demon empire more than anyone else.

Where the apostles of the past were arrogant because of their position, the current apostle gladly sacrificed his own life for the demon race’s wellbeing.

If they were being honest, they didn’t want Alastair to succeed the current apostle because, unlike the current apostle, Alastair was rebellious.

His blatant disregard for their orders, status, and instructions was something that even his own father couldn’t bear, let alone them.

But now, with the current apostle in an undetermined state, everyone in the room had the same thought.

Only one of them suggested it though.

“This is just a suggestion but…” The dark elf hesitantly said, “We already have the next apostle, a link to the gods.

Why don’t we just…” Everyone knew what she meant to say even without her saying it fully.

However, they were hesitant.

Even the two divine ranks in the room were hesitant.

The reason was simple.

The mana in Alastair’s body began to rampage and began to envelop the entire room.

Although it was just the mana of an SS rank, the title of the soon-to-be apostle wasn’t for just a show.

Alastair could easily contend against many of the SSS ranks at once.

Except for the demon king and Natasha, everyone else in the room was at the rank SSS.

They were threatened by that power very much.

“Alastair,” Astaroth said.

“What?” Alastair said, his mana becoming even more violent when he said, “Isn’t it all your fault?

All of you forced him to use his divine power to heal you from the injuries you obtained BECAUSE OF YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT!!!” As the suffocating mana enveloped everyone in the room, something else began to change.

The quality of mana.

It wasn’t just the mana of an SS rank anymore.

In front of their very eyes, Alastair was breaking through to the next stage.

He wasn’t going to SS+ from SS, he was skipping that stage and going straight at the rank SSS.

“If he dies!!!” Alastair yelled as the mana began to cut everything in the vicinity, “You all die too!!!” The mana wasn’t just threatening anymore.

It was a threat.

“Evacuate!” Astaroth yelled and everyone hurriedly obliged.

The meeting room was hurriedly evacuated all races made their way to the respective exits of their own territories, abandoning the space that was used to hold the untied race’s meeting.

Just as they did, the mana rampaging in the room got so strong that it began to tear the space itself apart.

And then, everything went black.

********** “Kuah!” I woke up with a shout from a terrible dream.

I was covered in sweat and realized that the entire sleeping bag was sweat with my sweat.

But I could understand why I would sweat so profusely.

The dream that I just had was such a nightmare.

A nightmare of my past.

[What kind of dream was it that it left you in such a state?] Even Allison was astonished about the contents of my dream based on my state.

Slowly, I opened my mouth as memories of the past surfaced in my mind and a wave of fear passed through me, ‘My mom’s cooking’.

[…] [What?]
