The Archangel of Death - Chapter 239

Chapter 239 ‘Honesty is the best policy.’ A phrase often heard, rarely ever practiced but used in hundreds of serials as a lesson.
But in the real world, one case it was never used in was none other than picking up girls.
No one would walk up to a girl and be honest by saying, ‘Hey girl, I’m married but you’re hot and I wanna get inside your pants.
Chill?’ No.
A guy would first take off his ring, if he was wearing any in the first place, and then move over to hundreds of stories, none of which were anywhere near the truth.
Just to get the girl.
Now the situation here was the same.
In a sense, I was also married.
[To four girls and pending] ‘Thanks for that.’ I replied to the rude interrupter before I continued to look at Asmara.
If I wanted Asmara for her hellishly beautiful body, no disrespect, I would have lied and said ‘You’re the only girl for me.’ “It leaves us where you want to leave us,” I said to the slightly blushing Asmara.
No matter how cute that slight blush was and it didn’t matter if it melted my heart a little, my face remained serious because this was serious.
“I don’t think I need to tell you about my relationships with Rose, Alicia, Laura, and Sophien.
I love them and I care about them because they love me.
It’s that simple.” I said as I stepped closer to her, her expression a little strange now.
“So if you want there to be an ‘us’, then there has to be them as well.
You can either take me as I come, or you cannot.” I said before I added, “We will still be friends.
I will still teach you.
But…” I got close enough to her until I could feel her breath on my skin, “I won’t love you.” “So what is your answer?” I finally asked.
“…” She just stared at me strangely before she finally said after a lot of hesitation, “I… *************** “What is the plan?” Sasha asked me as soon as we returned.
As for Asmara, who was with me, bolted in another direction suddenly as if her pants were on fire.
“What happened to her?” Sasha asked as she looked at me suspiciously.
I obviously didn’t reply because honestly, I had no answer.
How the hell would I have expected that reaction from her?
[You can’t really blame her] Well, yeah.
I know what I did but still, wasn’t that still too extreme for such a headstrong girl?
One would guess she was strong enough to bear that but with her reaction, I was having second thoughts about her headstrong personality.
I looked back to Sasha and said, “The plan is to eat.” “What?” Eric spoke from the side as if he had heard something ridiculous.
“We eat.
Is that so hard to understand, you moron?” I asked in a little harsh tone.
He remained silent in return.
I nodded and said, “Distribute rations to the entire army but also tell them to be on guard.
We can go for it at any time.
Tell them not to eat so much that they sh*t again and again.” As I finished speaking, Eric spoke once again, “You’re not serious, right?” Fwooo… I let out a short sigh and said, “If you question me one more time, if anyone questions me one more time, I’m gonna lose it.” I left the scene with instructions and made my way to my tent.
Oh yeah.
I had my very own tent.
Of course, I did.
I was the leader of this big as* army.
I entered my tent and lay down on my makeshift bed.
I sighed once again and looked at the panel in front of my eyes.
[Quest complete] [Level restrictions have been lifted] [You will not obtain EXP from B rank enemies] [You will not obtain EXP from A rank enemies] ‘Oi.’ [Yes, host] ‘Where’s the EXP you blocked?’ [How do you think I will have enough power to initiate infusion?] ‘You cunning bit*h.’ That much EXP could have easily pushed me all the way to level 400 but now, I was going to get nothing.
Well, at least the level bar had reset once again but it still didn’t make me much happy.
I mean, an S rank was worth just 10 to 100 EXP.
Not much of them lying around.
Well, that was a headache I will deal with when it came to it.
For now, I needed to deal with the current set of circumstances.
I had a battle to win.
************************** The siege continued.
We kept bombarding the barrier around the city but we never overdid it.
We made sure that the army was in good health.
The purpose of doing so, even when it wasn’t necessary, was to keep the army on the inside on its toes.
Keep them afraid and on guard all the time.
Combine that with their current food crisis, no doubt the army in there would be afflicted with the mayhem of mass hysteria.
Or at least they wouldn’t be right in the head.
If you could do that in a war, rattle the enemy, then half of the battle was over with.
The rest of it depended on how you dealt with the rest of the issue.
In truth, no one passed this test except for Eric who had the divine blessing of the world.
An all-pass to every illogical thing.
But now, now that his luck wasn’t working the way it would have, the battle came on my shoulders.
I still checked the lucky break that Eric had, finding a weak link in the barrier and getting some people in to assassinate the duke.
But I didn’t find it.
It was nowhere to be found.
So I could only assume that Eric’s mojo was gono.
And now, two days later, on the final day of the test, we waited in the open field with all of the army prepped and ready to go.
Luckily, there were clouds in the sky so we were safe from the sun.
However, we wouldn’t be so lucky if those clouds wept on us.
So I was hoping there would be no rain but for now, we were protected from the sun so we could wait here in the field all day.
Now from others point of view, we had all the time in the world.
We could just let the duke and his army starve in there and just swoop in in time to take over the city and win.
It was a good strategy.
And that was my goal as well.
However, we, as in me and my fellow students, knew that we were short on time.
Today was the last day of the exam.
If we couldn’t get it done today, we were failing, just like everyone else.
So along with the hope of no rain, I also prayed for the duke and his forces to finally give up.
Either they surrender or they come out and fight us.
In both cases, we were the victors.
But the only scenario in which we would be the losers, was if they didn’t let that barrier down.
But maybe luck had it in for us or maybe it was Eric’s illogical luck for no damn good reason, or maybe it was my brain that drove the people, all soldiers, mad and they were letting the barrier down in anger.
But I didn’t care for the reason.
They were letting it down and that was all that mattered.
Flicker.
The barrier flickered and after a few more flickers, the barrier came down.
Just as it did, the voice that was blocked from the city due to the barrier entered our ears.
In the distance, a number of soldiers could be seen running in our direction.
By my estimate, they were somewhere around 1000.
Heavy wounds on them and the lack of armor suggested only one thing.
They were coming to give their surrender.
Behind them, I could see about 3000 soldiers along with the giant knight that had chased after us a few days ago exiting the city and taking their positions.
“We surrender!” “Help us!” “Save us!” Well, I guess they were surrendering.
But, I wonder why?
[Why indeed] Exactly.
Why do they look well-fed?
“Prepare to shoot arrows as soon as they get in range,” I said to the commander next to me who without question, silently nodded at my command and left to give the orders.
“Why?!” Eric, being the ever-good guy, didn’t see the truth in there.
Well, not just him, everyone was confused.
After all, these guys were running at us with their hands raised in surrender, heavily injured, and no weapons on them.
Anyone would think they were rebelling against their lord.
But, why were they not malnourished at all?
They looked like they were full of energy.
Why would they rebel if all their needs were being met?
In conclusion, they weren’t.
“Fire at will,” I said to the commander by my side who had returned after carrying my commands.
“FIRE AT WILL!!!!” The commander yelled as the army behind me raised their arrows and the next moment, the sky was covered with a color darker than the clouds under the arrows.
And the next moment, everyone running towards us was skewered.
