The Archangel of Death - Chapter 235
235: Rewards of sorts 235: Rewards of sorts Chapter 235 “But we decided I would be the leader,” Eric said with clear dissatisfaction as we were walking to the rendezvous point of the army sent by the holy nation of the old times.
“I understand that you were out but there is a reason none of your other cronies have said a word in protest.
But I will be fair to you and say this, “Object again and I will kill you.”” I was pretty sure that my words were clear and concise.
Eric was still about to speak when Sera held his hand and shook her head.
“What?” Eric asked.
“Just let it go,” Sera said in a hushed voice.
It was true that power was everything.
A simple display of my power and everyone, even the arrogant Sera, who denied every word of mine, the entire existence of mine, was quiet like a tame woman.
I ignored everyone else and focused on the plethora of notifications in my view.
[You have cleared the quest] [All accounted individuals are alive] [Quest completed with a perfect rate] Then give me a reward you stingy fu*ker.
[You have obtained an achievement] [Achievement: Fall of the truth] [All stats +100] The plot had changed quite a bit.
Eric didn’t obtain a part of the world truth here.
He simply obtained a fragment that transformed his sword to the next stage.
I, however, got something else entirely.
The truth of this world.
However, I wasn’t sure if this was Tanaeria or not.
It could have simply been that the sword fell into this world through a dimensional tear or something because I was well familiar with that world and so far, I hadn’t found anything similar to Tanaeria here.
This wasn’t the fragment planet that I found.
It was something else.
Merging of the fragments wasn’t a strange process and it often occurred.
This could have been simply that.
But the fact that my granddaughter’s weapon is in Eric’s hands and it is bonded to him made me curious about him.
That was because the bond was somewhat strange.
I was the creator of that weapon and although it was not what it used to be yet, it still should have reacted to me yet all this time, nothing.
Not one thing to suggest that I was the maker of that sword.
Only one person could have made it so that even I wouldn’t recognize it.
[He is smart, isn’t he?] ‘I’m smart.’ I replied.
My dad wasn’t smart.
He was cunning.
So cunning that his mind was awfully destructive, unlike mine.
That was what made my father who he was.
An existence beyond me.
No doubt this quest was also created by him, to show me and puzzle.
To rattle me and make me lose all sense of everything.
[And you almost did] ‘Keyword being almost.’ I admit I lost it a bit back in the cave.
My bloodlust was running amok and if I wasn’t able to control my emotions in time, the students behind me would have died at my hands, not from the orc.
[You have obtained the fragment of truth] [Error] [Fragment of truth cannot be merged with the user due to the absence of cosmic power: Mana] ‘Merge it with the Heaven’s Wrath.’ I instructed.
The fragment was useless to me and from the looks of it, I wasn’t going to obtain an achievement from it so it was just a piece of c*ap.
Better to use it where it can be used.
Heaven’s Wrath, the current name of the sword ‘The sword of the Archangel’, was in Eric’s possession and it would likely remain in his hands because I didn’t have mana to use it.
I could still use it but that would cost me my life energy.
Life energy was difficult to restore and my reserves weren’t exactly that much.
I still had Celandine’s heart but I hadn’t absorbed the divine energy in it.
It would be useless.
If I were to do so, then what happened at the capital when I absorbed Veronica’s divine energy would happen again.
My vessel wasn’t strong enough to store more than five strands of life.
When I tried to assimilate divine energy back then, it put a considerable strain on my vessel so I had to let it go and just spread it in my surroundings.
It was a waste but it was the only option at the time.
But in the case of Celandine’s heart, I could absorb divine energy when I wanted to, unlike Veronica’s which I had to no matter what.
To do that, I needed to increase my level.
To do that, I needed to seduce that red-haired girl who was staring at me for about an hour now.
Seriously.
If being handsome was a crime, I would be on death row for the hundredth time.
[Then you better use that pretty face of yours and seduce her] ‘Not before you answer one thing.’ I said.
[What?] ‘Why her?’ I couldn’t help but wonder why.
After all, it was a coincidence that she and I were together in the tournament dungeon but then again right now.
The universe wasn’t lazy enough for so many coincidences.
It was forced.
Someone was doing this.
Only two people came to mind.
My father and my dear… [What would you do by knowing?] So it was dear Allison.
Now why would she expend so much effort in both Alicia and Asmara?
They had nothing in common.
One was an exceptional physical fighter while one was an exceptional mana user.
And that was what they had in common as well.
They were both exceptional in both fields.
Perfect for possession.
[…] Silence meant I was wrong.
[Wouldn’t it usually mean there is something correct?] ‘That’s the tactic of the intellectually challenged.’ I replied.
Intellectuals like us don’t go this way.
But I wasn’t completely far off either.
There was still something.
Something I was very close to.
Exceptional in both fields.
That was the clue.
If only they were in one body, wouldn’t they be perf— Wait.
One body?
[So?] [You satisfied?] Ahan.
Wow.
Allison was indeed smarter than me.
She had such an agenda and I had no idea.
Well, couldn’t really blame her for wanting to be alive again.
After all, who would like to be stuck in a world of nothingness?
Just look at the Supremes.
They were tearing the world apart just so they could enter this universe.
[Here I thought you would be mad] [With me trying to take over your girls] ‘Well, you can’t.’ I replied.
Possession didn’t work that way.
Even she couldn’t eradicate a soul.
Not even I with soul power could do that.
If she wanted to exist, she would have to coexist in their bodies.
And the requirement would have to be both of them in one body.
How was going to do that?
[I have my ways] ‘So that was why you have been helping me so generously.’ I said.
All those favors for this.
Well, I wouldn’t be mad.
After all, three girls in one body.
Every man’s hot dream.
But that still didn’t solve the problem of merging them into one.
Alicia and Asmara were too far apart.
Nothing in common.
Like-like was actually a requirement for merging.
That would be impossible if they were so like-unlike.
[Leave that to me] [And for later] [For now, you have other things to worry about] ‘Yep.’ I said as we finally made it to the spot at the top of the hill that overviewed the city we were supposed to attack.
In the distance far away, I could see people marching over.
An entire army of ten thousand.
It was overkill to take over this city but there was a reason for that.
That city was practically an impenetrable fortress.
Not even a divine rank would be able to break through to that city.
Remember the barrier around the Monastery where I was held captive?
Even Rafael and Bayren couldn’t breach that monastery.
So what was the hope of us breaking into that city with just B ranks?
Siege was the only option.
Wear out the barrier.
But then there was another option wasn’t there?
There always was another option.
One just has to look deep enough.
Like the people of this city.
It was impenetrable from the outside.
No one said anything about the inside of the city.
******************* “Sir!” A servant barged in and disturbed the Duke.
The duke was busy cleaning a statue when he heard the servant come in.
Whereas the knight standing close to him was not very happy with that, the duke himself said nothing about it and asked, “Why are you in such a hurry?” “The granary…” The servant said while panting.
“What about the granary?” The duke asked.
“It’s gone.
Everything in it is gone.” The servant replied with urgency.
Before the duke could even make any sense of it, a knight barged in in a similar fashion and said, “Sire, there’s trouble.” “What is it?” The duke asked worriedly since he had a bad premonition along with the first news.
The knight responded without the care that he was out of breath, “The holy army… the holy army is here!” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Creation is hard, cheer me up!
