The Archangel of Death - Chapter 232
232: Sword of the Archangel 232: Sword of the Archangel Chapter 232 The hell is this?
There were two of them?
But why now?
Why did the second one come once the first one was dead?
It would have made more sense if they came together.
But it didn’t.
Nothing made any sense.
But there was nothing I could do either.
I could only fight.
Fight and win and deal with this later.
The second orc was also at A+ in power while I was exhausted so dealing with my exhaustion was the main criterion.
I opened the inventory and chugged down a stamina potion.
With how much I had used them, my body was very well used to them so I had to use about ten of them to restore my power.
Even still, another dragon breath was out of the question.
I would be lucky if my body didn’t break down upon the second usage.
After all, I was very weak, compared to the rank I was at.
My body will break down, at least.
The damage beyond was something I wasn’t going to even imagine.
Especially to my soul.
If it did somehow affect my soul, I might not be lucky enough to find another undead orb that has enough soul power to restore my soul like last time.
And with how low my soul power was, using it to heal my damage was out of the question.
The second orc also sped up while I had just collected myself.
Using the [Magic cannons], I blocked its vision by targeting its eyes and moved to the side while lunging my sword in the passing orc’s ribs.
My sword didn’t penetrate but it left a wound on the orc, enough to piss it off.
At me.
Well, that was technically what I wanted.
But it sure as hell felt intimidating.
Seeing a big green orc charging at you with an axe.
I once again dodged using all my concentration and struck it on the side.
My hit once again connected but it was once again useless.
The orc was much better than me in physical terms, and its skin was really hard so it was very hard for my sword to penetrate any deeper than a flesh wound.
The orc managed to hold on to the opportunity and attacked me while I was still backing away.
[Fire wall] [Celestial guard] The bright wall of fire appeared and blocked the orc’s strike along with blinding it which again mellowed down the strike.
My shield was then easily able to block it while allowing me to counterattack once again.
[Hail of meteor] Unlike my expectation, meteors really didn’t fall on the orc.
Instead, a concentrated beam left the tip of my sword and struck the orc straight in its gut, delivering a good piece of damage.
“Kuaahhh!!!” It roared in anger and lunged at me, even though there was a deep hole in its stomach, bearing the pain that came along with it.
I once again used [Magic cannons] to slow it down and plunged my sword into its abdomen but jumped back instantly because as soon as my sword was lodged in its stomach, the orc yelled and brought its axe down just where I was.
The piece of work still wasn’t dead.
Since it wasn’t, I hurriedly used [Magic cannons] and launched at it myself since it had been brought to its knees due to the pain.
I used a quarter of soul power, all that I had left, and coated my hand with it.
I plunged my hand through the orc’s chest, exiting from the other side.
The orc’s eyes went wide but soon, all systems shut down and it died.
[You have defeated the opponent] [No EXP received] The usual messages came as I killed it but no message about the quest being completed came up.
Fu*k.
“Everyone, step back!
Make a protective circle.
Mages in while physical fighters out.” I barked orders while also making my way to them.
“Why?
You defeated it.” Sera said.
“No.
It’s not over.” It wasn’t me who replied to her though.
It was Eric.
“You.
How did you know that?” I asked him.
“She said so,” Eric replied.
“Who?” I asked.
“Alv—” Before Eric could reply, a pressure dawned upon all of us.
Stronger than before, but not something I hadn’t felt before.
The pressure of an S rank.
Back then, it wasn’t so threatening.
But now, well, tough luck getting out of here alive, let alone surviving and completing the quest.
Unless some miracle happened, no way I could win.
I felt movement beside me.
Eric raised his sword and got into the posture of attacking.
“Are you out of your mind?
You won’t survive.” I said.
“She says I won’t,” Eric said.
Who said so, you bastard?
Are you going crazy or what?
As much as I would have loved to let him make a fool out of himself, I couldn’t let him die so I stepped forward to stop him.
But I couldn’t move.
For some reason, I felt out of it for a moment.
Just for a moment, enough for Eric to launch at the orc.
‘Fu*k.’ I cursed as I regained control of myself and went after him.
But it was too late.
The orc, the S ranked one, didn’t even bother swinging its axe.
It just let out a strong pressure, strong enough to push me, and Eric, who was in front of me, into me.
As we both were struck by that pressure and flew back into the group of students, I felt one thing for sure.
We could never win against this monster.
[Aqua shield] [Embrace of warmth] Two consecutive incantations of spells entered my ears.
Sasha and Sera had created their respective shield to protect themselves and halt our pushback as well.
As we both came to a halt, breaking through the shields but thankfully stopped by Asmara and the physical fighters, pain coursed through my body.
[HP -1270] What the hell… A thought came to my mind.
If I was like this, then what about Eric?
He was at the forefront of the orc’s attack.
If I was like this, then there was no way he managed to survive the onslaught of that pressure.
If he wasn’t dead, he was soon going to be.
I got up hurriedly, ignoring my own pain and preparing the [Breath of Life] skill while also a few HP potions to heal Eric before he died.
However, I didn’t see a fallen man.
Eric was standing.
Although bloodied and in his last throes, he was standing.
I pointed my palm at him and began to use the [Breath of Life] skill on him repeatedly.
Soon, his visage became a lot better.
However, there was one problem.
He was out of it.
He was mumbling something, but he was unconscious.
I didn’t know how he was standing but he was standing, unconsciously.
It wasn’t that I hadn’t seen this happen before, but I never experienced this myself so I knew nothing about this state.
Now that I thought about it, how the hell did this idiot survive?
Wasn’t he injured the first time as well?
Considering the potions did that job then, they were still very fast to heal him.
Then how did he heal so quickly?
And how the hell did he survive that attack?
I wasn’t confident in surviving that attack head-on yet he, someone weaker than me did.
How?
That question gnawed at my mind but no answer came up.
And no matter how hard I tried, no explanation came up.
Was it because he was the main character?
Was it because he was the protagonist under the protection of not only the Supremes but also the laws of the world?
No.
That wouldn’t explain that.
If that was the case, he wouldn’t have been driven to the verge of death during the spirit incident.
Had I not saved him back then, he would have died.
But I didn’t save him this time so it didn’t make any sense for this.
However, there was no time.
The orc was still stepping closer to us little by little.
I hurriedly pulled him back while taking the sword out of his hand unknowingly and said to Sera, “Don’t let him move.” She nodded as she pulled the unconscious Eric behind her.
Asmara looked at me, I looked at her.
But she was looking at me with a surprised look in her eyes.
The same for Sasha and soon Sera joined when she had put Eric behind her.
“What?” I asked.
“You… How…” Sera mumbled incoherent words but didn’t form a sentence so I could understand.
Asmara and Sasha didn’t say anything as well.
I didn’t have the time to understand what they were so astonished about when there was a death swing approaching us from behind.
I turned around and faced the Orc.
There was no way I was winning.
Any retaliation was useless.
Then why?
Why did I think that I could win?
[You have successfully bonded with the sacred weapon, Heaven’s wrath] ‘What?’ I was confused by the system’s notification but when I saw down, I saw an extra sword in my hand than there should have been.
Eric’s sword.
Before I could even analyze this strange phenomenon, I received more notifications.
[The real name of the sword will now be revealed] [Sword of the Archangel] My eyes went wide when I read that name.
but even more when the last set of messages appeared.
