The Archangel of Death - Chapter 223
223: Screwed once again 223: Screwed once again Chapter 223 Celandine was held by Adrian’s hand on her neck.
She tried to struggle but all in vain.
Seeing no other way, she opened her palm and shot the mana inside her at Adrian.
It struck Adrian on the lower right side of his face, along with his shoulder.
His arm, which had lost connection to his shoulder, also fell off.
However, Adrian’s grip remained as strong as before.
He looked at her, his eyes deep in hers as his terrifying half-jaw parted and he spoke in a raspy voice, “Was that all?” He just said that when the injuries on Adrian began to heal at a monstrous pace that even the strongest healing spell couldn’t do.
Once he was fully healed, he tightened his grip and rammed Celandine into the ground, cracking the ground below her as a strong tremor swept around.
Adrian didn’t do that again and brought the limp body of Celandine up again.
She was in pain.
Very much pain.
She was a mage and a mentalist, her physical power wasn’t that great.
The force from Adrian’s bash was too much for her, as she felt disoriented.
Adrian smiled and said, “Here’s one thing I didn’t tell you about Gabriel.” While he said so, Adrian placed his hand on Celandine’s chest, his fingers on her chest like a claw.
“Gabriel is a maniac.” He said that as he began to push his fingers in, stabbing her chest, slowly going deeper and deeper.
“He kills, and kills and kills.” His fingers were now one inch deep while Celandine began to scream in pain because it was indeed very painful to slowly have her chest penetrated.
“However, he’s kind and merciful,” Adrian said.
In response, Celandine only screamed.
“How, you ask?” Adrian answered his own question for her and said, “He never makes the death of people he kills longer than he needs to.
He always keeps it quick and precise.” There was nothing quick and precise about Adrian’s current move, though.
“But, when he gets angry, do you know how he kills people?
Without a weapon.
He kills them without a weapon.” Adrian said as he tore through her rib cage using soul power at the tip of his fingers.
Celandine was now lethargic, unresponsive, but still in pain.
Finally, Adrian said, “Whenever he used his hands, his enemies trembled.
Because that was the moment he was angry.” Adrian was now near her heart and delivered his final words, Celandine would ever hear, “When he’s cruel, he uses his bare hands.” Adrian ripped the heart out of her chest, and her entire body went limp.
The heart was still beating, remnants of it still left, but it soon stopped as well.
Celandine was dead.
Adrian let go of her body, letting it fall on the ground as he felt something flowing through his veins.
Power.
[You have slain an SS+ opponent] [You have received 1,000,000,000,000] [You have received 100,000,000 coins] Adrian whistled at the sight of the experience he had received and the power-up he was getting.
It wasn’t huge given his already huge requirement for level, but he was still very happy.
But it wasn’t long before his expression turned ugly when he read the next set of notifications.
[Due to the interference of the overseer] [The level-up has been stopped at 350] [You cannot raise your level to 351 unless a quest is completed] [Quest: Asmara] “Oi,” Adrian said, without caring about whether he was speaking in his mind or out in the open.
[What?] [You got a problem?] “Of course, I do.
There was nothing like that.
This much EXP can easily take me past level 400.” Adrian wasn’t pleased in the least, but he didn’t start shouting yet.
[413 to be exact] “Then why?” Adrian asked.
[You now owe me only three] ‘Fu*k.’ ~~ This was precisely why I was so hesitant about Allison’s favor.
Her favors were expensive, and I expected the price to be quite large as well.
But I wasn’t angry.
More or less, I could tell that the level-up requirement wasn’t set up by her.
That part had to do with the causality of the word.
Balance.
A very simple yet difficult thing to understand.
I was becoming too strong, too fast.
I mean, the main character would be somewhere around B rank if he were extremely lucky, yet here I was, disheartening SS rank monsters.
If I become too strong too fast, the balance would break.
Not to mention, I still didn’t know why I was here.
What was I here for?
What was my main objective?
I knew none of it.
And to make sure the laws didn’t become too aware of me, I had to be limited.
Grow with the world in another world.
A perfect smokescreen.
As the limits of the world increase, if I were to increase my limits, then it wouldn’t be noticeable.
I knew exactly when the world would increase in its limits.
When the sudden influx of SS rank gates becomes a normal thing for the world, the entire world.
Monsters so powerful and never seen before would flood the earth and kill countless blessed in the wake of their descent.
The concentration of mana would also increase then, causing the power of people to increase at a fast pace.
But it was still vexing.
[No use crying about it now] [Just go and seduce another innocent girl] And who was the one who called me a womanizer?
Anyway, I wasn’t too sure about this quest.
Even if my progress was at stake, my life was at stake as well.
I was already pushing it with Sophien.
Bring another girl to the fold, and the girls might really kill me.
[Ever heard of secret relationships?] ‘What kind of scumbag do you take me for?’ I asked as I felt a powerful being approaching.
Before I got into meaningless conversations, I wanted to check my status.
[Name: Adrian Von Deus Lux LV: 350 [EXP 0100,000,000] Age: 17 Race: Human HP: 31403140 MP: 15424610 STR: 668 AGI: 663 END: 1163 PER: 693 INT: 806 CHR: 1183 LUCK: 413 AP: 0] Looking at my level requirement and my current level, I tutted once more, but I was helpless.
My entire progress depended on the system, thanks to my father, and Allison had a great hold on the system.
Besides, I owed her.
I knew what I getting into when I asked her for a favor.
I never expected to lose this much, but I was prepared for a big loss, so I wasn’t that much affected.
Rafael arrived before me and asked, “What happened?” Wasn’t it obvious?
I looked at the dead girl at my feet and the heart in my hand, both of which he could see.
Yet still, a question like that was just stupid.
And when I looked at him like that, he flinched in annoyance but didn’t say anything.
He asked, “Will Alicia be all right with this?” “I hope so,” I replied.
Celandine was messing with Alicia’s head, opening the doorway that I had closed using my soul power.
With her dead, nothing should be able to keep the doorway open.
However, the damage had been done.
This will stop Alicia’s change, but the damaged part won’t be able to heal.
The damaged part in this case was memories of Veronica.
Alicia would have trouble trying to figure out which was which.
Which of those memories were hers and which of them belonged to Veronica?
And with a majority of her memories already sealed thanks to Rafael, there was a good chance she would lean more on Veronica’s part.
“All I know is that Alicia would be changing.
Not much, but she will be, and we need to make sure she remains under constant surveillance.” I said after a few quiet moments.
“Why?” Rafael asked.
“Because this could again happen,” I replied.
“Didn’t you kill her?” Rafael asked while looking at the lifeless body at my feet.
I didn’t reply.
Of course, I killed her.
But there was still something that had been bothering me for a while now.
I asked Rafael, “Tell me about this boy, or in truth the girl, who was with you?
How long has she been with you, and when did she tell you where I was?” Rafael looked at me strangely and replied, “Well, she was always here, at the chapel.
Even when you were taken.
I was with her for a few days when she finally told me where you were.” “Was she with you all the time?” I asked.
“Yes,” Rafael replied.
So that begged the question: how was she there at the monastery and getting inside my head?
~~ “Your brother is dead,” An old man in a white robe said to a girl in white who had platinum white hair.
The girl raised her head, tears flowing from her platinum-white eyes as she replied, “I know.” Unlike her appearance, her voice was steadfast as she added, “But he did what he was supposed to do.
We’re almost there.” The old man nodded and said, “The era of the gods will soon return.
Your brother’s sacrifice for such a great day would be remembered.” “It will be,” Celandine replied with more tears flowing from her eyes.
