221: Celandine 221: Celandine Chapter 221 [Her symptoms don’t match her condition] ‘Symptoms shymptoms.’ There were thousands of symptoms and each symptom could lead to any problem. For example, indigestion could be pancreatic cancer or it could just be indigestion.

Alicia’s symptoms didn’t match her condition because the underlying cause wasn’t neurological.

It was psychological and it was affecting her physique due to that.

Like telling someone they don’t look so well for hours and that person would really start to believe something was wrong with him.

That was what was going on with Alicia, just a little differently.

She was turning into someone else while remaining herself at the same time.

Somehow, the Supremes, or maybe just Veronica had figured out a way to enter this world without really entering it.

It wasn’t a bad thing but it wasn’t a good thing either.

The stronger personality always remained.

Alicia was weak to begin with, add in her mind in turmoil, and I doubt she would be able to win against a Supreme who was on a level no one in this world would be able to defeat.

I wasn’t saying that Veronica would become all-powerful in this world.

She would still be in Alicia’s human, or half-human body.

But she would have access to the laws of this world through her.

She could just as easily open up the spatial seal between dimensions and open a gateway to hell, heaven, or the place the Supremes resided.

It was very difficult for me to deal with this situation.

But what I didn’t understand was how her condition was worsening.

I made sure to deal with all parts of her brain that could lead to anywhere near her memories.

She would still remember the ones that were unlocked but those she hadn’t unlocked were also becoming unlocked.

[Almost as if someone’s in her head] ‘Yes!

Exactly.

Veronica is in her head.’ I replied to Allison’s assumption.

[Is she?] [Or is she just being transferred?] ‘If she was being transferred, it would have to be done through a medium.

Mediums could be anything.’ I replied.

[And what are the most strongest mediums?] [Ones that are bound to connect] [No fault possible] ‘Well, that would be the apostles, the saints, or anyone with a direct connection to the sup…remes.’ It suddenly clicked in my head.

There was someone who could get into someone’s head, wasn’t there?

Someone who wasn’t an apostle but in direct contact with one of the Supremes.

[Now you get it] I was wrong.

Allison wasn’t as smart as me.

She was smarter than me.

I hurriedly stood up and ran out of the room.

“Where are you going?” Sophien asked while she followed me.

“The chapel,” I replied.

“To pray?” She asked.

“No.

To take a heart.” I replied.

********** Chapel.

A place to pray to the goddess of the Cortum empire, Veronica.

The holy goddess, the direct descendent of the creator of the entire world, Isis.

The Cortum empire wasn’t as religious as the Church but they still had the belief of a blessed person.

Only they weren’t so severe that they would kill people and erase nations in the name of the gods.

In the entire chapel, at this time of the day, only one person was present.

The boy was dressed in a priest’s robe.

He was the youngest-ever priest of the church.

Priests weren’t normal clerics and they held considerable power under their belt.

However, they were lower in rank than a Supreme priest like John.

But depending on where they were, they held more power than a supreme priest.

The black-haired boy was kneeling in front of the statue of a woman whose face was covered by a veil.

Humans would dare not imagine the face of their goddess so they covered her face with her robe.

The boy was saying something in an unknown language that was different than the usual language of the Isis.

While the boy was praying, the door to the chapel opened and Adrian entered the room, followed by Sophien, Rose, and Max.

Laura had decided to stay with Alicia to keep an eye on her condition.

Adrian wasn’t much worried because Rafael and Bayern were also with her.

The opening of the door startled the boy who turned around and looked at who was the person to enter.

“Ah… Your Highness.

Have you also come to pray for Lady Alicia’s health?” The boy asked with a smile.

“I have been praying for her to get better for so long.” “No,” Adrian replied.

He then looked at others, and asked, “How did you know where I was?” “Pardon?” The boy asked, confused because he didn’t know what Adrian was asking.

“The church was holding me at that monastery, how did you know that I was there?” I asked.

“The supreme priest told me.

He asked me to join but I lied and said that I would be keeping an eye on the imperial family.” The boy gave a perfectly normal reason.

“Then why didn’t the army of the imperial family head there straight?

Why did they have to search for me by capturing more monasteries?” I asked.

“Because I had to make sure there was no one listening in.” The boy once again gave a very plausible reason.

“Ironic,” Adrian said.

“What is?” The boy asked.

“That was the same time frame they needed to get into my head,” Adrian replied.

“And also the appropriate time needed to play with Alicia’s head.

After all, all those who cared for her weren’t present.” Adrian added once again.

“Yes, it was unfortunate,” The boy replied with a sad look and added, “But I apologize I couldn’t help you sooner.

Had I done so, the years of hard work the imperial family had to do to plant me in the church’s higher-ups would have been wasted.” “You’re absolutely right,” Adrian replied.

There was nothing wrong with the explanation.

No loophole that could be looked at.

No loose point that could have caused problems for the boy.

Just one though.

And that point was enough for Adrian to catch on to him.

“Out on the courtyard, when Alicia said she didn’t know you.

I thought she was just under the symptoms.

She wasn’t.

She really didn’t know you.” Adrian said.

“That could have been because of her condition.” The boy replied.

“No.

It was because you didn’t exist in her memories.

You existed in Veronica’s memories.

Not in hers.” Adrian said.

The expression of the boy changed to that of offense and he said, “Your Highness, I do not know what you are implying, but please make sure to address the esteemed goddess with her proper title.

Please do not take her name so carelessly.” Adrian smiled.

A chuckle involuntarily escaped his lips as he said, “My apologies.

I meant no disrespect.” “But,” Adrian said again and asked, “You wouldn’t mind if I were to say something about Stella, right?” “After all, she isn’t the part of the coven of the holy gods and goddesses.

She is different.” Adrian added.

“It is blasphemy to address any god disrespectfully,” The boy replied, his expression still offensive.

“Then what about Zaran, the demon god?

Do I have to respectfully address him as well?” Adrian asked.

“What are you here for?” The boy asked, trying to avoid a useless debate.

“I will take that as a no and since you have no other allegiance than the holy coven of gods, I will address Stella as however I want.” Adrian said before he smirked and added, “A bi*ch.” The boy flinched.

It wasn’t voluntary, nor was he angry.

His body naturally did that.

The reason was simple.

Adrian turned to Sophien and said, “Hey, honey.

Did I forget to tell you, your god’s a piece of cr*p too.” Sophien also trembled.

Adrian chuckled and turned to the boy once again and said, “Curse a supreme to the direct holder of its power and the borrowed power inside them would react.” “But if you’re the follower of Veronica, why did your body tremble when I cursed Stella, the goddess who is not part of the holy coven?” Adrian asked once again.

The boy stared at Adrian, for quite a while, they just kept staring at each other before the eyes of the boy began to change color.

His pupils began to turn lighter and lighter until they turned platinum.

That was the only change to his appearance.

His hair was longer; his body features had changed that to of a feminine.

The only change that didn’t occur was the height of the boy.

He, or to be pierce, she was the same size.

Adrian smiled and said, “You asked what I was here for, right?” Adrian took a step forward, his soul power rampaging, inside and outside his body, shaking the entire interior of the chapel as he said, “I came here to take your heart as promised.” Celandine smiled and said, “Well, only two ways to do that.

Either make me yours or take it.

And we both know you’re leaning more on the latter approach.” Her mana also began to leak from her, tearing the walls of the chapel down.

The power was enough to alert everyone but for some reason, Celandine wasn’t afraid.

She had a card after all.

“Shall we?” She asked as she assumed a battle stance.

“We shall,” Adrian replied with a smile as well, raring to go.
