The Archangel of Death - Chapter 197
197: Alder the Fifth 197: Alder the Fifth Chapter 197 I was worried as the array was taking a bit too long to activate.
Granted this time, unlike last time when I used the power of life, I used soul power, but it should have still been enough to activate an array of this magnitude.
However, it still took some time even with the hundred points of soul power, however, it activated which made me sigh in relief.
But it didn’t open up because the spatial wavelengths weren’t aligning and harmonizing so I had to keep the vampires a bit busy with talking.
Fortunately, I was the king of talking.
After a few minutes, and a sore throat, the gate finally stabilized and a hand peeked out of it.
This hand belonged to the werewolf king, or as I have decided to call him since he didn’t tell me his name.
Although the gate was stabilized, it wouldn’t be able to remain for long enough unless a great amount of power was supplied to it.
With my pitiful amount of power, that was impossible.
I mean, I could open it for a few minutes and have hundreds of werewolves out to help me, but he could open it longer using his power and have an army of werewolves brought here to assist me.
Soon, the gate began to expand but it also began to lose stabilization.
Luckily, the werewolf king had enough power to supply it and made it stable in no time.
Now it was enough for all the werewolves to come here and also it would be open for quite a long time.
However, not all the wolves were coming here.
Only some, including this guy.
Even his divine-ranked son and daughter had gone somewhere else.
After all, the plan was yet to be fully carried out.
It wouldn’t make any sense to call them all here when there was no need to.
Just a hundred wolves, including this one.
I didn’t even need those hundred wolves with this guy here but I doubted he would be the one to fight personally.
“You remember what to do, right?” I asked once he reveled in the sights of his surroundings.
He nodded and said, “I’m fully aware.
However, I will say this.
You are very cunning.” “That I am, that I am,” I repeated in assent and said, “Wolves!
Attackkkkk!!!!” “…” Nobody moved.
Embarrassing.
“Are you sure you’re not crazy?” Werewolf king asked.
“If I wasn’t, would I have come to you?” I asked.
“Valid point,” He nodded and said before he loudly said, “Wolves!
You heard him.” Just as he said that, “AAWWOOOOO!!!!” The werewolves began to howl and not only that, they began to transform.
It was truly a mesmerizing sight, werewolves transforming.
Their muscles began to expand and the clothes on their bodies began to sink into their skin as if a part of it.
What replaced them was fur, lustrous, spiky fur but it only looked spiky, I was sure it would be very soft.
I wonder if they would let me pet them.
I always was a puppy person.
[From which angle do they look like puppies to you?] Cheche… Spoken like a cat person.
Cat people always fail to look beyond the strong canine, flowing drool, and long beak, but only a dog person can look beyond that and look at the real cuteness of a puppy.
[…] Whatever.
They transformed and rushed at the Blood Keep like a pack of hounds rushing at their prey.
“Prepare for battle!” The vampire captain said as well.
However, it was useless.
They didn’t have their blood powers while the werewolves were twice as strong as usual thanks to the blood moon.
As the battle began, I also took a step forward.
I wasn’t confident fighting the vampires, or at least the important ones so while they were distracted by the wolves, I would sneak inside.
The problem here was my strength and agility.
I wasn’t strong enough in that regard yet, they were only at the initial stages of SS rank after all, however, the vampire captain in there was at the SSS- rank, which was almost the same as DÃ ghar, the vampire king’s son whose rank was SSS+.
I wasn’t winning so I could only leave the fight to the wolves while I dealt with the rest.
My task was to simply find Alicia, nothing more.
****** Seeing Adrian leave, the werewolf king, also known as Alder the Fifth took his steps towards the blood keep.
He wasn’t familiar with this place because the last time he was out of the cursed forest was almost 5000 years ago.
The world must have changed a lot by now and he doubted that anyone would even remember his name now.
Although the world was aware of the existence of werewolves in the cursed forest, they weren’t aware of him.
The guardians, if they were still the same, might remember him, since he was the strongest among those at the guardian rank and had defeated them several times.
Just as he arrived at the raised door of the Blood Keep which none of his kin had used to enter, he lightly tapped on the door, disintegrating it into thousands of pieces, and effortlessly entered the Blood Keep.
No one took notice of him.
The reason was simple; he didn’t want them to.
He let his children enjoy the hunt after a long time and made his way to the person who seemed like the leader of that place.
Mikal also took notice of him because the werewolf he was fighting stopped fighting him and retreated.
Although he was stronger than the werewolf, no matter how much he would injure him, the werewolf would still regenerate and fight him again.
Mikal knew that fighting a werewolf on the night of the full moon was dangerous because they drew a significant amount of power from the moon so their regenerative power was at its peak.
Not to mention, thanks to the Blood Moon, the werewolf was twice as strong so although the werewolf was struggling against Mikal, he wasn’t defeated.
When Mikal looked at Alder making his way to him, he stood in his place and glared at him.
He didn’t cower in fear because, for some reason, there was no threat to their life.
He didn’t know why but the werewolves weren’t killing them.
Just neutralizing them.
“What is the werewolf race doing?
We have our differences, but there is no need to interfere on the behalf of the humans.
Do you think the vampire king and esteemed guardian would remain quiet at this?” Mikal tried to use everything he could think of to make the werewolves rethink their decisions.
His words or better yet threats, weren’t empty in the least.
This was indeed a hostile act and even though both of these races were at odds with each other, they never crossed each other like this to avoid useless bloodshed.
Alder smiled as he asked, “Why do you think we aren’t killing you?” But Mikal had no answer to that.
Since he didn’t have an answer, he decided to threaten Alder again, “By now, the entire vampire race would have been made aware of this.
Soon, everyone will come here and this won’t be simple for you.” It was a bluff.
This one was an empty threat.
With the dome up, there were only two ways to reach the blood keep, either from the outside, which was impossible because of the dome, or from the inside, however, the teleporter wasn’t working but Mikal was counting on the fact that Alder didn’t know about it.
“They won’t come.” Alder simply said.
Mikal was taken aback.
What Alder said wasn’t out of confidence.
It wasn’t like he wasn’t scared to face them.
It was simply certainty.
He was certain they wouldn’t come.
“Why… why do you think so?” Mikal couldn’t help but ask.
However, Alder didn’t reply he simply smiled but the next moment, a voice resounded throughout the castle as they heard, “That’s because what’s happening here is also happening in the vampire kingdom.” Adrian, who was running in the keep, trying to find Alicia, held a crystal near his mouth and continued, “Not only you but all the vampires in the world have lost their blood powers for some time.
Well, all those below the age of 3000, and I doubt there are many of them.
How would they come here and when they are busy protecting themselves and many of your race against the attack of the werewolves?” Mikal’s expression changed when he heard that.
He only that they were suffering from this problem but from the sound of it, every vampire was suffering as well.
“Well, not that they would come anyway because coming here simply shows that they were indeed in on this operation.
Do you honestly think Vermont or DÃ ghar would come for you, Mikal?” Adrian once again spoke up and when Mikal heard this reason, he knew that he had already lost.
He didn’t know what game the human was playing by not killing the vampires, he knew there was no point in continuing.
With the presence of Alder and the meticulous and well-thought-out planning of the human, they had already lost.
“We surrender,” Mikal said, accepting the twisted fate because there was no other choice.
