***** Chapter 176 New York City.
On the 40th floor of a towering skyscraper, a dark office situated whose darkness couldn’t be overcome by the good illumination in the room.
The office, adorned with dark furniture, and dark carpets, still exuded a sense of eloquence even though a normal person would feel suffocated in so much darkness.
Floor-to-ceiling windows, that weren’t black thankfully, offered a view of the vibrant and bustling city below and also the view of the countless buildings where lights twinkled like stars in the dark sky.
Seated at a large, black desk, a man who seemed to be in his early thirties or late twenties, leaned back in his black leathered chair, the expression on his face unreadable.
He wore a dark suit that contrasted greatly with his pale skin.
Contrary to his expressionless face, his eyes on the other hand were sharp.
So sharp that even an experienced person wouldn’t be able to bear the sharpness of those deep dark eyes.
The contemplative look in his eyes further added majesty to his visage.
A stack of documents on his table, his computer screen showing analysis of some site that he wasn’t interested in.
He sat as if he waited for someone in this cold and desolate atmosphere, the darkness of the room only served as a sign of peace for him.
The silence of the room was never disturbed by the noise of the city below that never slept.
Suddenly, he smiled.
He spun his chair around to see the city slowly becoming dark.
Every light in the city began to snuff out, the star-like twinkles in the buildings vanished, and the lights in a car, everything electronic or not, went black.
Soon, the world was enveloped in darkness, the only solace of lighting available to the people of the world was the glowing moon in the sky.
The darkness outside the office now resembled the darkness inside the office.
The man smiled, even in this darkness, seeing as if he could see in a day, he said, “My, my.
What a grand way to get my attention, Lady Allison.
Though I must warn you, I’m a married and very devoted man.” Quiet.
It was as if he had said those words to the empty air but a screen appeared in his view, a screen whose edges were dark with tints of red in its corners.
The words written on the screen were also blood red, but they didn’t need to be read because a smooth, serene voice came along with them.
[Bryce, I see you’re still quite narcissistic] “It’s Bruce now, and I must say, I am greatly impressed with how you managed to acquire my attention.
Shrouding the whole world in darkness, you do realize that I won’t be the only one to notice you, right?” Bruce ignored the comment about his narcissism and said.
[You mean your so-called wolves?] [And what can they do to me?] “They can do a lot.
You shouldn’t underestimate them.” Bruce argued playfully but he was lying, he knew that No one would be able to do anything to Allison, just like no one in the world would be able to do anything to him.
After all, whatever he was, Allison was.
[I’m not here for them] [Nor am I here to debate on useless things] “Of course, you’re here because Gabriel is about to do something stupid and that might cost him his life, right?” The man asked as if knowing every thought of Allison.
[And you will let him?] “Of course, I would.
I have never interfered in the decisions of his life.
He was always free to make his choices, and he will be free to do so.
I will never interfere in his decisions.” Bruce outright refused to help Allison regarding anything.
[Now is not the time to tell me how cool of a father you are] [You need to do something] [Otherwise, you know what will happen if he dies] “What will?” Bruce asked playing confused.
Allison remained quiet in turn.
Bruce finally smiled, seeing that Allison didn’t buy his act, and said, “Lady Allison, you shouldn’t show your worry in such an obvious way.” Allison was worried for his son, he understood, but he didn’t care.
Whether she hated his son or loved him, it didn’t matter.
To him, only one thing mattered, and that was his son in this entire scenario.
Even if Allison hadn’t appeared, he wasn’t going to let his son die.
So if he wasn’t heeding Allison’s request, then that meant only one thing.
And Allison was smart enough to figure that out.
[You’re letting it happen] “Haha.” Bruce laughed and said, “You know me quite well, don’t you, Lady Allison?” And then his smile deepened as he joyfully said, “My son is returning, Lady Allison.
Why wouldn’t I want that?
Why would I interfere with that?” Allison now knew she had come to the wrong place.
Coming here wasn’t of any use.
But, she couldn’t do anything herself either.
All she could do was be a bystander.
[You will deliberately put your son in pain] [Some father you are] “That’s the thing about being a father.
A father knows what his children need, and for that, if they have to go through pain, he helps them.” Bruce replied to Allison’s remarks.
“And besides, you underestimate my son.
He’s not as weak as you think he is.” Bruce added shortly afterward.
[No matter what] [No one can go through that pain] “You see, that’s the difference between you and me, I believe in him.
I have blind faith in my child, you don’t.” Bruce said.
[Of course he isn’t] “Hmmm.
Are you suggesting something, Lady Allison?
Do I have to remind you again that I’m married?” Bruce once again played with Allison.
[Whatever] [If he died, then that’s on you] With these final words, the screen in front of Bruce disappeared.
The world on the outside slowly returned to its former state, the state of light and brightness.
But that brief moment of darkness in the entire world was enough to cause a multitude of damages.
Seeing the chaos in the world below, Bruce waved his hand and everything began to turn in reverse.
Soon, everything returned to the state it was five minutes ago.
At the same moment, another screen appeared in front of him, but it was green in color.
[No offense sir] [But your former girlfriend is scary] [Very scary] “What?
Did she entrap you in another world of endless death?” Bruce asked.
[Worse sir] [Do you remember my first love?] “That Aletta from Zeroth?” Bruce asked.
[Yes sir] “What about her?” Bruce asked, amused.
[She made me go through her marriage ten thousand times] “HAHAHA.” Bruce burst into laughter at that.
That was something Allison would surely do, mentally torture her victim in various ways.
[Please don’t laugh at my misery, Sir] “Sorry, sorry,” Bruce replied and suppressed his laughter when the voice on the green screen got offended.
“Maybe because you had a hand in sealing her, that’s why she is pissed at you,” Bruce replied.
[Then by that logic, she should be more pissed at you] “Of course, by logic, she should be but she can’t do anything about it, now can she?” Bruce countered.
[So that means I have to suffer your share as well] “I’m afraid you do,” Bruce replied, not sorry at all.
Just at that moment, alarms began to blare on the screen.
[Warning] [Warning] After the monotonous voice of a computer, the voice from earlier said.
[Sir, the vitals of the prince aren’t responding] [There has been no pulse for thirteen seconds] [Should I execute the protocol “I”] However, despite the urgency in the voice, Bruce remained calm.
He remained seated in his seat, with the same laidback expression he had before, and calmly said, “I see you don’t have faith in my son either.” The voice didn’t say anything in return while the alarms kept ringing, showing the vital scans of a person.
Bruce leaned back in his chair and said, “I have faith in my son.
My blood runs through him even though he is in another body.
That’s why, I would appreciate it if you also had the same faith and just watched.” The voice once again remained quiet.
There was no need to say anything in return.
Its master had said something, all it needed to do was believe in his words.
It was true the voice didn’t believe in its master’s son.
But it had unbreakable faith in its master, and that’s who it was going to believe in.
******* In the world of Isis, in the Bellator city, deep in the biggest mountain on the entire continent, a body lay lifeless with its eyes closed.
The white clothes and white hair of the body were red due to the puddle of blood underneath the body and all the blood flowing out of every orifice from it.
The person was dead, without any doubt.
However, a hologram shined in front of the body.
On it were written words: [Composition of death 2.47%] At the same time, darkness began to leak from the body that was lifeless.
It wasn’t just darkness; it was something more.
It was the beauty of the end; it was the end itself.
It was death.
The favor was delivered.
Death was integrated.
Shrouded in that darkness, the eyes of the lifeless body suddenly shot open, and a smile formed on the lips as the person said, “Fu*k.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Creation is hard, cheer me up!
