The Archangel of Death - Chapter 174
174: Back to school 174: Back to school Chapter 174 Dungeon cores.
A thing that no one in the present knows about.
The way to completely remove the dungeons from the face of the earth.
Of course, doing so has no merit.
You cannot forge them into weapons or anything else.
They were just simply shiny crystals.
However, for me, they were a collection of life force.
Now if I were to destroy them, I would gain EXP as that would count as killing someone.
But, this was a golden chance for me.
Since they were so full of life, I could just absorb them.
Now if I were to do the same to a human being, absorb their life force, I would be going against the nature of life itself and that counted as killing.
But these weren’t living beings, they were just a collection of life force so absorbing them was okay.
And given their ranks, they might be able to expand my life strand to the fourth level.
Might be, of course, but there was a chance and I was going to get more of them.
[Level 311] I killed everything and everyone in the dungeon, and although the A rank dungeon had very less monsters, it was still a disappointment to clear three big dungeons and only level up nine times.
My only choice was to go to an S rank dungeon but then what?
There were no SS rank dungeons, not for now at least, and the only SSS rank dungeon in existence was some sort of gate instead of the dungeon, the Dungeon of Diamonds.
And even if I wanted to go an S rank dungeon, there were only two of them in the entire world.
One was in the empire, my home ground, and the other one was in the demon empire.
Now S rank dungeons were national treasures, no matter how good I was or how many achievements I obtained, the empire still wouldn’t allow me to enter the dungeon.
That was because every little thing inside an S rank dungeon was irreplaceable.
The items obtained from the S rank dungeon were used to award those who had done meritorious deeds so they were very precious and were used to keep people in the empire, ‘loyal’ to them.
That only left me with one simple option, sneak in.
Of course, it was guarded by two SS ranks, one from the imperial family and one from the church, an organization that was the second face of the Cortum empire.
But, I wasn’t that good with religious fanatics.
It wasn’t that I didn’t believe in a god, but I wasn’t a zealot.
I was simply a worshipper who did nothing more than worship and nothing less than that.
But I still didn’t get along with overly zealous people who went but the sole analogy, ‘Because the god or goddess said so.’ Anyway, I doubted I would face them much later, not until I got involved in the politics of the empire.
That was still a little far away so I had time to prepare and worry about other things.
One such thing was the Kalkstein family.
On that note, I came to realize something today.
Everything in the novel wasn’t true.
From the short time I spent in the Kalkstein manor investigating, I came to realize that the information from the novel about the Kalkstein family was invalid.
There was no patriarch at all, the one who I feared to be an SSS rank entity.
Only a woman, and not just a simple woman but a divine ranked fire mage.
To my knowledge, the Kalkstein family was destroyed by the Eric party, and the one to face them was a man, who introduced himself as the patriarch of the family but from my investigation, the patriarch of the family was long gone.
It was a severe case of androphobia, the fear of the opposite gender.
However, there was a slight twist.
The woman in the story was strong enough to eradicate men.
I could imagine what happened to the guy who delivered his funky essence to this lady to let Lambert come to life.
I gotta say, the people of this era were straight-on crazy.
I decided to focus on this later and worried more about what to do.
The woman was too strong for me to take on, even with the help of Sairal, I would only be prolonging my suffering.
And I couldn’t get the imperial family involved because if it was a simple SSS rank, then I had no problem waging a war because the destruction wouldn’t be severe.
However, if a few divine ranks were to fight, the terrain of the human world would be unrecognizable for quite some time.
But that wasn’t what worried me the most.
What I feared most was the looming threat of the nonhuman species.
If they attacked while our powerhouses were recuperating from injuries, the result was obvious.
That only left me with one choice, negotiations.
But negotiations weren’t possible with my current opponent at the current stage of strength I was.
[You can only wait and see how things so] ‘Yep.’ I now understood why Lambert was so quick to back off.
I also now understood why he tortured Sophien so much, it was his hatred of women.
From the data I discovered, he was abused by his mother since childhood.
Of course, he hated women.
Lambert backed off because he knew his mother wouldn’t back him up.
For now, all that could be done was wait.
Let’s see what the response the lady in red comes up with.
So there was nothing to do here anymore.
But since I was already here, I might as well gather some more resources for my life element.
===== “I would like all of you to know that the schedule of the third test hasn’t changed even with the recent events,” Desmond informed us while we all sat in the class.
It felt like I had been absent for a long time from class with all that happened here even though I was here on Wednesday.
I spent some time at the Central government’s capital yesterday, with Sophien of course who didn’t let Rachel leave us.
It was such a pity.
Anyway, I decided to deal with troubles as they came.
For now, I needed to focus on the more pressing matter.
The element of life I absorbed from the dungeon cores wasn’t enough to push my life element to the next strand.
[Life element composition at 2.99%] Just a little bit more, I thought but it didn’t work.
Even when I absorbed another dungeon core, the element didn’t budge from this point.
I sighed and waited for the class to end.
Since there was nothing else to do, I had planned to train my skills today.
As the class ended, I headed to the training room.
Laura and Alicia were still dealing with their breakthrough while Rose familiarized herself with lightning.
Sophien was keeping her distance from me since that day so I was practically alone.
Well, almost.
“Towel, my liege.” Max came yesterday, to report a few things about Caligulas but decided to stay a week because that was the time Sophien needed to work on other things.
I let him stay, but he insisted on being next to me since Rose was busy with her training and I had no servant next to me.
I didn’t need one, but he insisted so how could I refuse?
As I dried myself, Max stood by my side, attentive like a tree.
I didn’t bother saying anything about it because I had made the same mistake in the morning and he preached about being a soldier and a loyal whatnot for an hour, all the way to the academy.
I finished my training, mostly because I was feeling tired now.
I still needed to stabilize myself a bit before attempting the fourth step of the Penta enhancement array which would also take care of my soul damage.
Last but not least, was the integration of the elements of life and death.
The element of death was at the whopping composition of 4.79, almost two points higher than the life element.
But I needed only two strands of each for the integration.
After all, I wasn’t at a stage where I could bear the integration of more elements.
As I stepped out of the training room, it was still bright outside which indicated it wasn’t even six in the afternoon yet.
I left the building and made my way out of the building.
On the way though, I saw a woman being dragged out of the academy by two students.
The woman was wailing, crying, begging about something, mostly addressing the high authority of the academy and the apostles.
She was begging for them to just listen but she was still being dragged out without any disregard.
“Stop.” I didn’t know why I stepped forward and stopped the students who were dragging her out.
The students turned around and recognized me.
They looked at each other before one of them said, “Your Highness, I would appreciate it if you didn’t interfere.
This is the decision of the student high council.” “Is it now?” I sarcastically asked and snapped my fingers.
Max disappeared from behind me and appeared in front of the students.
The next moment, a few wails of pain were heard while the woman, on the other hand, didn’t care about anything and ran to me, “Please help me.
HELP ME!” Before I could say anything, she lost strength in her legs and collapsed on the ground as she passed out.
I hurriedly grabbed her before she touched the ground.
