170: Sophien 170: Sophien Chapter 170 This was a comical scene for the veterans of the war who had battled against many great monster races and prevailed as heroes.

But even they fell short when it came to the strongest race on the planet, the dragon race.

Few in numbers, but strong in individual strength.

The dragon race never involved themselves in any sort of war.

No matter if it was a war between monsters and humans, humans or other races, or other races with other races.

They never involved themselves in wars.

Dragon race also had two subordinate races.

One of them was known as the Basilisk race, giant snakes that have different powers regarding the mind.

They could freeze, curse, or even turn someone to stone with a mere gaze of their eyes.

Weak in combat but they made it up with these abilities of theirs.

Of course, they were weak when it came to the dragon race, when comparing them to the other races, they were truly monsters that even the strongest of the denizens of Isis would avoid.

The other race was the Wyvern race.

The closest to dragons in terms of abilities, strong, could fly, and deal in fire.

Such was the race known as Wyverns, also known as lesser dragons.

Due to that quality, they were also called very prideful so there had never been any accounts of another race, a human no less of interacting with the dragon race or its servant races.

Even now, the wyvern was looking at Sirius and Rafael like two inferior beings who didn’t deserve to be in its presence even though it was weaker than both of them.

“Krr…” The dragon growled once again to which Adrian said, “They’re not things, they’re people.

Address them as such.” Adrian’s tone sounded like the one of reprimanding a child.

If that wasn’t strange enough, the wyvern also lowered his head slightly like a scolded child.

“And you two, why did you hurt his feelings by calling him an ‘it’, huh?

Do you know how much of his feelings have been hurt?” Adrian sounded like the same to the two of them as well which left them speechless for a reply and in the end, all they could do was say, “So…Sorry.” An apology instinctively left their mouths because they were more dumbfounded by the scene in front of them.

Adrian nodded and said, “Make sure it doesn’t happen again.” Just as he said that, he stumbled a little as if his vision went blank for a second.

The two old men stepped forward to say something but Adrian held his hand up.

The wyvern also supported Adrian and helped him stand up straight.

“I’m fine.

I just need some rest.” Adrian said before he turned to the wyvern and said, “I will be taking the short path.

You take the flight and find me.” “Krr…” the Wyvern growled in reply to which Adrian nodded and began to walk toward the teleporter while saying to Rafael, “I have something urgent to attend to.

Can you speak up in court and apologize for my absence.” Rafael knew what Adrian was talking about so he spoke up, “If you didn’t come today, it would cause your influence to weaken.” Adrian already had a bad image but if he ditched a court where important figures from all over the empire would be attending, it would only give them something to target Adrian with.

Adrian smiled and said, “I couldn’t give two sh*ts about them and I couldn’t give three about what they would do.

Except for a few figures, there’s no one left in the empire to stop me.” The confidence in Adrian’s voice was unwavering.

Rafael turned to look at the wyvern and knew that it was true with the help of the wyvern, however, he knew that wasn’t what Adrian was talking about.

“I see.” Rafael simply replied before he retreated as well.

Adrian stepped into the teleporter and disappeared from the sight of the two old men.

“It seems you have a difficult problem ahead of you.

You didn’t tell him that dealing with the guests wasn’t the problem.” Sirius said with a laugh.

Rafael sighed in return.

It was true, that dealing with the guests who would have come from far away would not be a problem, no matter how many voices they raised, if the emperor didn’t listen, it wouldn’t be a problem.

The problem was telling that very emperor why the person personally called by him wasn’t there.

But, now that Rafael looked at the Wyvern, he had all the reasons to strongly represent the case to the emperor.

There was no need to dismiss Adrian anymore.

His strength was proven again and again and now he had crossed all limits.

====== I felt heavy, not just my mind, my eyes, or my legs, my entire being felt heavy.

The power of life was fully exhausted and it would take quite a bit of time to recharge it back again.

It was a good thing that I had a lot of coins so I could still purchase a few divine artifacts to at least recharge my power instead of increasing it.

Still, that didn’t mean I could ignore the current havoc inside of me.

The power of death was trying everything in its power to consume the power of life, fill in the empty shell of life left behind by the life energy.

I was very thankful to Allison who was holding the power of death at bay.

The power of death had also become very strong after so much killing it was close to completing another strand.

And if that strand was somehow filled up, I would face a lot more difficulties.

Allison could only help me so far, if the strand was filled up, the power of death would then rampage greatly inside of me, killing me on the spot.

Alas, for that very reason, I couldn’t rest.

My body was screaming for some rest but resting now meant dying because I had a tight schedule up ahead.

[Purchase complete] [100,000,000 coins have been deducted] I purchased only enough to absorb the divine energy in the time I had left.

Also, my budget wasn’t that great.

I had around six hundred million coins even after the massacre I went through.

The consumption of potions and other stuff has been taking a great toll on my coin revenue.

I decided to worry about everything later and began to absorb the divine energy within the artifacts.

The divine energy was quite potent so I was very lucky because after converting them, I recharged a whopping two strands.

Of course, if I wanted to increase the strands with this much energy, I wouldn’t even have been able to increase the strand by ten percent but recharging the energy was a different thing.

I opened my eyes to see that it was already bright and looking at the composition of the sun, it was around ten am.

It also meant that I was very late right now.

I sighed, stood up, and cleaned myself after which, I purchased a new Hartmann’s suit.

I equipped it and left for the Vermillion estate.

Since I was already very tired, I didn’t use any of the fancy skills and simply used the carriage of the imperial family to make my way to the Vermillion estate.

[Not to mention the drama] That was true as well.

I was very exhausted already but I was expecting drama up ahead.

After all, it was still a novel and Sophien was still a main character.

It was the unwritten rule of the world, drama followed those surrounded by the power of destiny.

And it was the duty of the author to make the main characters strong using that opportunity.

Lambert Kalkstein.

The sole heir of the Kalkstein family of the central government.

Outward, although instead of the title of a king, Cornelius held the title of the president, but the rest of the composition of the Central government was just like a kingdom.

It meant there were dukes, counts barons, knights, the whole shebang.

And the Kalkstein family was the strongest family in the Central government.

Armed with ten S ranks and two SS ranks, one of them being the head of the family and the other being the knight of the family, the brother of the first lady, the duchess, making them the strongest after the Vermillion family.

Even the Vermillion family couldn’t easily dismiss them, let alone Sophien who didn’t really hold a lot of power at the moment.

In the novel, almost half a volume was dedicated to how the entire team of the apostles and a few of the main characters, followed by the strong sense of justice of Eric, attacked the Kalkstein family and not only defeated them but also saved Sophien who was abused by her husband.

It was a very dark plot and I was amazed by how the book was still a general audience and not R-rated.

Anyhow, the problem didn’t just end with the abuse, Sophien was the target of many more things that I cannot say for the sake of the general audience and also because my blood boiled greatly whenever I remembered it.

And that was why, I was expecting drama today.

And not just the drama of any low quality but the blood and gore and maybe half of the Kalkstein family being reduced to nothingness kind of drama.
