The Archangel of Death - Chapter 158
158: The beating 158: The beating Chapter 158 “That’s right.
The fact that we are not only positioning our forces there out of precaution but such a strong force.
That would only mean that not only do we have suspicion of attack, we are sure of it.
now, leave the humans out, all the other races are very true to their words and they consider it a great honor.
But even they are not prone to paranoia.
A tiny thought would hand at the back of their heads.” I explained what Ronald had suggested.
The rest listened but I doubted most of them understood.
Ronald on the other hand, once again simplified my objective, “That the humans have a spy somewhere.
And it is in one of the forces.” “Eggzactly,” I replied with a thumbs up.
“So, what do we do then?” Cornelius asked.
“The simplified plan.
You all have to focus on the dungeons of diamonds.
However, in your absence, there are still many powerhouses that can take up the task and defend the borders of Quantico.” I explained.
“What if the races take advantage of that and attack from somewhere else?” Ronald raised an excellent question.
I smiled and simply replied, “They won’t.” “How can you be so sure?” Ronald asked.
“Because we will give them obvious reasons not to,” I said.
“You mean terrain?” Ronald guessed.
“Yep.
We change the terrain all of it.
They won’t attack us from other areas if we can see them coming from miles away.
Quantico is their only bet and would be their only bet once we remove all the variables from the other three cities.” I said.
“Such a massive change would obviously be expensive,” Ronald commented.
“Obviously.
But being overrun by them would be even more so.” I retorted which was a point that he could not deny.
“Is no one going to talk about how he robbed me?” Hershey finally spoke, with anger seething in his every word while he tried his hardest to not yell.
Everyone turned to look at me for a reply.
I simply stepped aside a little until I was just next to the emperor and said with the most charming and beautiful smile I could usher, “Would you like an invasion?” I asked while I placed my hand on the emperor’s shoulder who also smiled brightly like me.
The shudder that went through everyone in the room was visible to everyone.
Even Lucius was a little unsettled.
“We… We are willing to forget today’s events.
However, we request that the decided project be burdened by everyone at this table.” Ronald hurriedly spoke to calm me down and then suggested slowly.
It was a fair price so I nodded and said, “Very well.
I think it is fair that everyone works in the favor of humanity no matter where the territory is.” “Are there any more questions?” I asked.
“Yes.” Monica said to which I nodded her to continue, “If all the races are involved, wouldn’t it also make sense if the wood elves were involved?” It was actually pretty easy to deduce.
Of course, wood elves considered many races, races of evil but not everyone.
For example, dark elves and wood elves come from the same race, the high elves and every now and then, a high elf is born in both of the races.
Only a high elf could sit on the elven throne so even a dark elf could become an elven queen.
The bottom line was that both of these races were bound by the high elf blood, so although they were racist to each other, they didn’t despise each other.
So the question came, ‘If the dark elves were in on it, weren’t the wood elves also?’ “As I have said, unlike humans, all of these races take commitments very seriously.
As long as the peace treaty with the elves is still intact, they wouldn’t try anything.
We can worry about them later.” I simply answered which hinted ‘Yes’ to what everyone was thinking but they were not eligible to do anything.
As long as the treaty was in place, the humans couldn’t do anything about the elves.
With all the discussion done, the ‘peace’ conference came to an end.
The kings and queens were the first ones to leave, some of them worried about Hershey.
Not for his well-being but worried that he would make another problem for them.
It didn’t come to that and everyone left.
The emperor stood up from his seat and addressed me, “Come home at the weekend.
We need to discuss some things.” Saying so, he left along with Bayren.
As for Cornelius and Sirius, they had some things to talk to me about so I asked them to wait until the evening.
I will personally visit them one by one.
They nodded and left.
Monica, my mother-in-law came to me next and said with a smile, “It is a pleasure and relief to know my daughter is in safe hands.” I smiled in return and said, “Please do not worry.
Although she isn’t in my hands and it’s the other way around, I will do my best to take care of her.” “Sounds like we have the same type of partners,” Stephen said as he came forward and said with a smile.
Intrigued, I asked, “Have you decided to tell Laura?” Since they were publicly announcing their relationship, they must be ready to tell her.
Monica smiled and said, “Yes we are.
We were about to visit you today because as I have heard, she is staying with you.” I nodded and replied, “Although that is true.
I don’t think you would be able to meet her.” “Why not?” Monica asked worriedly.
“She is currently breaking through to the next rank,” I replied.
“Oh!
She’s already advancing to the C rank!” Monica exclaimed excitedly and Stephen looked happy as well.
But they were wrong.
Considering Laura’s previous talent, it was obvious she wouldn’t be able to advance much but she wasn’t with just anyone.
And now that she had tapped into the element of darkness, her growth would be far and beyond the divine rank.
“Not quite,” I replied which confused them again.
They were about to ask when I corrected them, “She isn’t advancing to C rank, but to B rank.” The smiles on their faces froze as they heard my answer.
They themselves froze as well.
As if I had said something mortifying that they didn’t want to believe, they had no choice but to block it out.
“Pardon?” Stephen asked after a bit, still in disbelief while Monica couldn’t find her words as only blanks came out of her mouth.
“I said she is currently advancing to the B rank,” I repeated once again which once again sent both of them down the shocked lane.
I nodded and said, “Visit later,” and left them there to get over the shock by themselves.
As we, me and Lucius, were walking down the hallway, Lucius spoke, “Why didn’t you let me kill him?” The emperor didn’t say it but he wasn’t happy that the imperial family was attacked by someone and that someone only had to pay an arm.
“Currently, the uncrowned ruler of the human world is the emperor.
However, a ruler has to be benevolent as well.
By showing this small gesture of benevolence, we landed ourselves an apostle pretty much almost free.” I explained the reason.
Had we killed Hershey, it would have planted the fear that the kingdoms already had of the imperial family even deeper.
They were already trying many ways to ensure the fall of the imperial family.
In such a case where we killed Hershey, they would have put their mind to it because then they would have realized that their lives didn’t mean much.
“I see.” Lucius simply replied and the conversation between us ended.
As soon as we turned the hallway, my instincts kicked in and I crossed my arms above my chest.
A kick landed on my arms, pushing me all the way into the wall.
“Good luck.” Lucius’s voice entered my ears as I saw him leaving me behind.
I didn’t need to be told who had hit me.
Rose stood in front of me and slowly made her way to me.
I could also see Sophien a little distance away, smiling at me which wasn’t a smile at all but mockery, pure mockery.
I saw as Rose finally got close to me but before I could plead, a kick landed on my abdomen from upward, in other words, she stepped on me with her full power that knocked the bonkers out of me.
As I tried to overcome the pain, she said, “You did it again.” I knew what she was referring to but I had no words to say.
If I said I was sorry, it would only backfire so all I could do was bear it.
“You almost died again and you were laughing.” She said with pure anger as she stepped on me once again.
“That’s because I was sure I wouldn’t die.” I couldn’t help but speak in my defense even though I knew speaking anything would only anger her more.
“I!
don’t!
care!” She yelled word by word and each word was accompanied by a step which I had to block with my arms on my stomach otherwise I was sure she would definitely break something in there.
“Wait!
Wait!
ROSE!
You’re… the… one… killing… me… right … now…” With each word of mine, she stepped on me harder than the last.
My HP was almost half gone and the pain in my stomach was killing me, figuratively.
She stopped and stepped back.
I thought that was my cue to get up but instead, she once again stepped forward.
I guarded myself once again but she didn’t hit me this time.
She instead straddled me and got on top of me in a very suggestive position.
There were tears in her eyes as she came face to face with me and plastered her lips on me.
All I could do was reciprocate and reflect on my actions.
No doubt I was very close to death from Hershey’s attacks.
And it was cruel making Rose only watch since I had ordered her not to interfere.
She was tearing up from the inside and all I could do was hold her in my arms and let her cry herself to peace.
However, I didn’t feel like I did anything wrong making Rose not interfere.
No matter how strong and talented she was, Hershey would have killed her in one shot.
She wasn’t strong enough to bear that strike.
He held back against me because he didn’t know what I was doing.
There was no reason to hold back against Rose.
She broke the kiss, stood up, and left without a word, still with tears in her eyes.
I remained on the spot without healing myself.
I knew just lying there in pain would not be appreciated but I just didn’t want to do anything after seeing those tears in her eyes.
I felt the steps of someone closing in on me.
I didn’t even raise my head because I knew who it was.
Sophien slowly appeared in my view and said, “That was something.” “Please don’t tease me about that.
That wasn’t funny.” I tiredly said.
“Oh, I agree.
Her tears weren’t funny and you’re a jerk.
But you getting beaten to death was a little funny.” Sophien remarked.
I didn’t bother replying to that and just remained on the floor.
She smirked and prepared to leave before she said, “Ahh… before I forget… I have something for you.” She said as she returned to her earlier position near me.
“What?” I asked, perching my body upwards a little.
She smiled and before I knew it, kicked me in the stomach to refresh the disappearing pain.
“You’re the worst jerk out there.” And while I clutched my stomach in pain, she left me there heartlessly, alone on the cold hard floor to deal with pain.
