The Archangel of Death - Chapter 156
156: Me and Derrell (Bonus) 156: Me and Derrell (Bonus) Chapter 156 Derrell came face to face with me and just stared at me.
I was quite uncomfortable with the closeness but I didn’t back off.
He was most certainly instructed by Hershey to do something but I wasn’t worried.
The system shop was a big help in everything so I wasn’t worried about another poisoning incident.
He soon stepped back without a word which creeped me out a bit and I really hoped he wasn’t into men because I would rather not have a man interested in men around me.
“Let the match begin!” The referee announced and Derrell instantly jumped back and a magical arrow appeared on his bow which he shot at me.
I simply used ‘Celestial Guard’ to block the arrow which was surprisingly strong.
But I guess that was the norm since an archer’s main attack power was in his shots.
Still, my shield remained strong in the face of more assaults before it finally crumbled on the fourth one.
“And now that you know it takes four arrows to break my shield, what’s your next move?” I provoked him, easily seeing through his intentions.
He didn’t say anything in return.
{Skill: Multishot} Instead, he used a skill and three arrows appeared on his bow.
Three wasn’t enough to break through my shield so if I had to guess, he would also be using another skill along with this one.
{Skill: Rapid shot} Just as the three arrows left his bow, three more appeared at the same time and shot at me, just behind the first three.
This wouldn’t leave me enough time to create another shield around me.
Of course, he didn’t know that I could enhance the sturdiness of my shield with more MP but I decided not to use this.
Instead, I gave him another riddle to solve.
[Magic cannon] Two cannons appeared around me and I shot them at the incoming arrows.
Both of them collided with two magical arrows, erasing them from existence and the rest of the four were stopped by my shield which also crumbled along with it.
“Now what are you going to do about that?” I asked.
He still didn’t reply and loaded his bow again.
He still didn’t use any physical arrows but kept using the magical ones.
{Skill: Rapid shot} {Skill: Wind spirits retribution} {Skill: Homing} {Skill: Duplicate} {Skill: Sense elimination} Got to give it to him.
He sure knew what he was doing.
He used five skills at once which might be only limited to him because of his skill composition otherwise, not many could use two or three skills at the same time.
However, each of his skills enhanced the effect of the others, making his strikes more effective.
Just as the three arrows left his bow, the bow enlarged in less than a second, and thirteen arrows appeared that once again shot at me.
However, a little twist this time.
The sixteen arrows suddenly multiplied by three or at least that’s what my count told me.
Another twist was the fact that I couldn’t tell which one of them was real and which one of them was not which was quite remarkable considering my Perception stat was quite high yet still I couldn’t find the real ones in this mess.
And last but not least, the arrows didn’t remain in a straight trajectory.
Just like my magic cannons that could be controlled, it seemed like Derrell could also control the arrows and since they were locked onto me, they would hit me no matter what.
It was just that their movement was unpredictable.
[Magic cannon x50] [Celestial guard] As fifty canons appeared around me, they also began to randomly move around me, colliding with the arrows at random.
Small explosions could be heard when they would collide with each other.
Some of the arrows were duplicates so although my cannons survived, they also let a few arrows get past and strike me, cracking my shield on the second strike which signified that the arrows were stronger than last time.
Fortunately, it didn’t come to the point where my shield broke because all of Darrell’s arrows had been destroyed.
I still had two cannons left.
One more thing that I realized was that the speed of the arrows was almost three times faster than my magic cannons.
And from the way they were destroyed on the spot, they were a little bit stronger too.
Not much because they were also destroyed along with the cannons but they were still magical.
Which meant that the physical ones would be stronger.
Just as that thought crossed my mind, Derrell came into my view with three arrows prepared and shot at me.
These ones were physical, not magical.
I didn’t have enough time so I used the two magic cannons to minimize their power while also using the shield around me.
As expected, the arrows collided with the magic cannons and pierced through them.
Their trajectory changed by a bit but they were still headed straight for my shield.
Their impact was lessened so I wasn’t worried that much.
What I didn’t anticipate was something else.
A new skill.
Just like Sera, I let my guard down at this point because so far the skills Derrell had shown were in the novel.
This one wasn’t.
{Explosion} Just as the arrows came in contact with the shield, three consecutive explosions hit me and the shield crumbled.
Of course, since I was unprepared, I was also caught up in it.
[HP -481] The damage was great.
Not to mention my suit was ruined along with my face and half of my hair.
Seriously, why was my hair so frequently burning?
As if the world was jealous of my flawless hair.
[Is that something you should be worried about?] ‘What else should I be worried about?
My greatest quality is in danger.’ [Your narcissism?] ‘More like my unrivaled beauty.’ [That’s what narcissism is] ‘Yes, I’m aware.’ [But I was talking about the three similar arrows heading at you right now] Derrell used ‘Rapid shot’ once again so he didn’t have to load the mana into the arrows next.
I sighed as I calmly straightened up.
Now was the time to use a skill that I hadn’t had a chance to use until now.
[Shadow verse] Shadows covered the entire stage and around me as well.
I sank into shadows and appeared from behind Derrell.
He turned around just in time to see a punch headed at him.
That wasn’t all.
As I sent him flying away, I sank into the shadows again and appeared from another side just in time to punch Derrell again.
It was similar to what Rose did but instead of speed like her, I was using shadows to instantly teleport myself.
It was instant like a teleport but to me, it was like going down and going up.
The only change that would occur would be different locations.
I dispelled the shadows because I ran out of MP.
Just this took out all the MP I had.
Shadow verse was an amazing skill with so many options that if this skill reached its maximum potential, no one in this world would be able to stand against me.
However, there was just one drawback to this skill.
This skill couldn’t be used for a long time.
This skill was for short intervals only.
[An MP recovery potion has been used] [MP has been fully restored] Just two hits.
That was all it took for the air to be knocked out of Derrell.
But my focus wasn’t on him.
Instead, I turned my focus to my surroundings and reveled in the astonished expression of my audience.
Especially those who were familiar with this power were somewhere between surprised and shocked.
The power I used was very much similar to the power of the apostle of Blade, the one who uses shadow, and in the current generation, that apostle was Sophien.
Of course, she, like Derrell, also hadn’t awakened her power of shadows.
The only difference between her and Derrell was that Sophien could use divine power but Derrell couldn’t.
She was also looking at me wide-eyed as I winked at her which induced a small chuckle from her.
There were some conversations going on in the VIP area as well but I couldn’t hear them given how far away they were.
But I knew what the topic would be but I didn’t focus for too long.
Basking in glory was something in my blood but my nature was more focused on my goals and currently, my goal was to make this archer my servant.
One way or another.
“Look at you.
Down so soon.” I provoked but it didn’t work.
His expression didn’t change but what I said next, certainly did the trick.
“Too weak to endure.
Or maybe that’s just an excuse.
Just like the day your mother was killed before your eyes.
You didn’t stand up that day too, didn’t you?” Derrell’s pupils dilated, and his heartbeat quickened as for the first time, I witnessed an expression on his face.
The emotion of anger was consuming him.
“SHUT UP!!!” He yelled as he came at me hurling his fist.
I deflected the punch and punched him quickly two times in his chest to dispel his momentum.
Once he came to a halt due to pain, I punched him in the face and he once again met the floor.
“Look at you.
So easy to give up.
So easy to rile up.
So easy to consume.
That’s why you’re weak.
That’s why you cannot awaken the strength for your revenge.
That’s why you’re so easy to exploit.” I didn’t stop.
Shot after shot at his consciousness, that deep down he had buried but I knew it was still there.
He may have constructed a wall to suppress emotions and memories but they were still there and all I needed to do was to slightly crack it.
The flood of emotions and memories would take care of the rest.
“Shut UP!” He yelled again but he didn’t even get up this time.
He was slowly being consumed by emotions.
Tears began to form in his eyes.
But it still wasn’t enough.
He needed to completely give in.
I knelt in front of him and like a tempter, I said in a hushed voice, “Come on, Derrell.
Give in to your emotions.
Cry.
Let it all~ out.” As if on cue, a green light began to emit from his body.
I smirked and hurriedly slit my hand and opened his mouth.
He was currently in a trance so he couldn’t tell what I was doing but everyone in the arena could tell that whatever it was, it wasn’t good.
He instinctively gulped my blood and I felt something in my heart at the same time.
The deal began to form and it was completed in a few seconds.
I could feel Derrell’s heart beating as well.
This was a sign that the blood bond between us was complete.
However, before I could celebrate, I was kicked from the side and like a ragdoll, I was thrown off the stage and bashed into the arena wall.
[Critical hit] [Multiple contusions detected] [Multiple bone fractures detected] [Multiple ligaments have been damaged] [Warning] [A foreign energy is found in the body system] [The user would take 100 HP damage per second until the energy is expelled or exhausted] [An HP recovery potion has been used] [An MP recovery potion has been used] [High Heal] [Moon shift vitality] [HP at critical] Just one hit and I was at death’s door already.
That’s how weak I was.
Still, the smile on my face was consistent.
I couldn’t stop laughing at the current turn of events.
I raised my head only to see Hershey’s hand which grabbed me by my neck and raised me into the air.
“WHAT DID YOU DO?!!!” I could see the anger seething in his voice, that’s how potent it was.
Which only made the current situation funnier.
Ironic since I could die at any moment.
Still, the laughter threatened to escape my lips even at the current moment which only seemed to have angered Hershey more.
