===== Chapter 152 “That was close,” Ronald said as he sat in the room with six more individuals.
The other six couldn’t help but nod at that fact.
No matter what, that was a very close win.
So close that had Layla not been lucky with her last shot, she would have been the one defeated, not Alicia.
“For now there’s nothing that can be done.
We need to make sure that the last match is in our favor.” Hershey spoke, gathering the attention of the rest of them.
“How?” One of the queens asked, “All we can do is put our hopes into the boy.
Besides, the girl is already wearing the dampener.
If we ask for anything more, not only would it become unfair from our side, but that wicked boy would surely use this opportunity.” The rest of the people in the room couldn’t help but agree with her.
The amount of money and other precious things they had lost to Adrian was so phenomenal that even Hershey, a hot-headed person, was hesitant to take it up with Adrian.
And he wasn’t alone, it was the same for everyone else but the problem was that if they didn’t do anything, their plan to show the ultimate power they possessed that was so unmatched that no one could stand before them would be crushed.
“Then, should we try poison?” One of the kings suggested.
Ronald shook his head and said, “We have already tried that and the girl had somehow remained fine.
It could be that she had an antidote and now they are aware of us.” Ronald referred to the poisoning of Laura by Derrell.
“Then what should we do?” Domina, another queen asked.
“For now, nothing.
We cannot do anything without putting ourselves at risk.
Besides, we shouldn’t be worried, Eric is the strongest apostle of all apostles, a proxy of Arya almighty herself.
And as Domina said, the girl is on dampeners so we don’t have to worry about anything.” Ronald ended the discussion with this.
However, Hershey still had something to say, “Have you also received a request about the dungeon of diamonds?” Just as he did, the entire room fell silent.
None of the individuals in the room spoke.
Hershey smiled at the silence and said, “So I take it that all of you know.” “We know but we haven’t decided anything yet.
I, for one, haven’t.
I cannot say anything about you.
But I do say this, whatever you decide, any of you, let it be discussed at the table first.
Granted the throne seems to be falling into the hands of Harvey but we can never know.
It isn’t the first time the throne has been picky.” Ronald explained his own point about this.
“Since we are all here, why not just discuss it now?” Hershey suggested which wasn’t well received given the place they were at.
“I don’t know if it is your old age or not, but you seem to have forgotten that poisoning a little girl is very different from usurping the strongest man on the planet.
We cannot discuss anything about it here, on foreign lands.” Domina berated Hershey which made him a little angry but seeing that all of the others agreed with her, he settled down and said nothing.
“For now, let us all focus on the problem that we face.
We are losing our position and even though we have two contestants at the forefront, there is no guarantee that the number will increase.” Seeing that the atmosphere of the room was taking a turn for the worse, Ronald decided to step in to salvage the situation and diverted their attention back to the already finished topic.
“don’t try to change the topic, Ronald.
You know as well as I do that he needs to do something about his reckless behavior otherwise, we would all hang.” Domina, who wasn’t that much of an idiot understood what Ronald was trying to do and chided him as well.
Ronald sighed and nodded which officially ended their discussion.
===== In another room, a boy was also having a serious discussion.
With his glowing white outfit along with his white glowing features, he looked otherworldly.
And the serious expression on his face gave him another charm that many would find irresistible.
One could tell that he was mulling over a very serious matter that required his utmost attention.
[Either way, I doubt Rose would lose] “Of course, she won’t, but that’s not what I’m asking.
What effect would it have on him?
He lost control earlier and space ruptured.
Is there a chance that heartbreak, literally and figuratively, could lead to that?” Adrian asked out loud since talking in his head was difficult for him to do.
[No idea] “What do you mean, no idea?
I need to tell Rose whether she should bow out or not.
If she does, then I need an explanation for it and that can only be done if I stand to gain anything.
If nothing happens, then Rose would be the one to get suspicious.” Adrian argued but the answer from Allison remained the same.
[Just do whatever your gut tells you] “If my guts don’t spill on the floor first.” Adrian quipped back before he went into a lengthy ponder session on this matter before he came to a decision.
“Let us break a heart.” He decided and left the room.
===== “And now please, enter the stage, contestants Rose Roosevelt and Eric Tudor.” The referee announced and both of the contestants made their way to the stage from the opposite sides.
As Eric proceeded to the middle of the stage, he smiled as he said, “It’s good to finally meet you, Rose.” Rose, on the other hand, remained silent.
She kept staring at him straight in the eye with no apparent emotion in his eyes or face.
Eric was a little disappointed but he didn’t let up.
The person whom he cared about very much was in front of her and without that monster.
There was no way he was letting go of this chance.
“You may think that I am your enemy.
But it’s an illusion.
An illusion cast by that wicked person, Adrian.
I am your ally, Rose.
Please, lend me an ear to let me explain.” Eric once again said to which, Rose’s response remained the same.
“Let the match begin!” the referee announced the start of the match.
Rose took her stance but Eric didn’t do anything.
He said, “I won’t fight you, Rose.
I don’t want to hurt you.” He just stood there and because of that, Rose just stood there as well.
“What is he doing?
Is he that confident?” Domina asked, seeing that Eric wasn’t moving, he hadn’t even drawn his sword.
“Ha!
He must not consider her his match.
Of course, why would he?
He’s the strongest of apostles.” Hershey praised and it sounded like a proper explanation and many in the VIP room were willing to believe that.
Adrian, in the contestant stands was also looking at the scene and all he could do was shake his head in pity.
“It is one thing to lose to a girl you have a crush on.
It’s another to get beaten to crap and realize, the girl doesn’t even know who you are.” The pity on Adrian’s face was genuine.
Back in the arena, Eric was still babbling about things when he felt his view turn upside down.
He felt as if everything was slowly rotating and Rose was moving away from him.
He couldn’t understand what was happening.
The audience in the stand opened their mouths.
In the VIP room, Hershey and the rest saw the scene their jaws on the ground.
And Adrian simply commented, “Oh!
She mastered the technique.” Rose stood at her spot as if she hadn’t moved but the only difference was the tendrils of lightning emitting from her body.
As for Eric, he was still wondering why he was flying out of the stage, and when he finally did, he snapped back to reality only to find that his jaw was dislocated.
“Crazy mongrel,” Rose mumbled beneath her breath which she knew was clearly heard by the target of her curse.
Eric couldn’t believe what had happened even though he was fully aware of what had happened.
He was marked as a crazy person by the girl he loved.
===== That was, how should I say it, pathetic?
Yeah, that’s what it was, pathetic.
I mean imagine it like this.
A group of guys were asking a girl for a favor and a passerby, a handsome one at that, misunderstood the situation and thought that the boys were bothering the girl.
What would he do then?
Intervene?
Of course, he would.
The boys would understand what was going on and act along with it but when the boy would think that he was a hero, the girl punched him in the face and yelled, “Why are you hitting my friends, you moronic loser!” Yeah, pretty embarrassing.
[What does that have anything to do with the current situation?] ‘Displaying levels of embarrassment.’ [Please don’t] [Your examples are horrible] ‘That’s hurtful.’ Rose came to me and sat next to me.
All she said was this, “I look forward to seeing you in the finals, Your Highness.” “…” I was speechless.
That was just a friendly gesture yet why was this girl acting like I cheated on her?
[Girls, scary] ===== “Is it done?” Julianna, the queen of elves asked Sarah, the girl who had interacted with Adrian during the preliminaries.
“It is not, my queen.
The deformity was solved and defeated by the boy.” Sarah reported back which made Julianna frown.
“Are you sure?” Astaroth asked, who was also sitting at the table along with many others.
Since Julianna was now better, she had resumed her position and Natasha had stopped being her proxy at the meeting of the races.
“Yes.” Sarah simply replied, the earlier reverence absent from her voice as she elaborated, “Adrian, the fifth prince himself singlehandedly, fought and defeated the monster in the dungeon.” “That’s not possible,” Julianna said, confused because she believed Sarah’s words.
The thing she found to be nonsensical was how their weapon had been defeated by a boy.
It was impossible because the weapon they had planted was something that could never have been defeated.
An intelligent being that could grow string at a remarkable pace with just a few ancient spells, and enormous resources.
Yet that same being was defeated by a boy who they were sure would die this time.
“It’s not impossible.” Alastair, who was standing behind Astaroth interjected and said, “The boy who I fought in the artifact was limited by the artifact and even if he was weaker than me, even then he would have won.” “How can you say that without any shame?” the vampire sitting at the table commented.
“Why should I be ashamed of a strong enemy?
Besides, I wasn’t the one who died.” Alastair wasn’t the one to just take one and not have a response ready.
As expected, the vampire emitted a red wave of mana in anger which was effortlessly blocked and canceled by Alastair’s own as he said, “Ahhh… The bitter truth.” “Enough,” Astaroth said which paused the commotion.
He then added, “It is true that the boy is dangerous and we need to take him seriously now.” “Exactly.
Even I had been extorted by him.
Had he taken the spiritual essence, then the story would have been different but since he hasn’t, it would point out he is aware of its effect because no sane human could resist to take it.” Julianna also backed Alastair.
“Then what should we do?” Another being at the table asked.
“Nothing.” Alastair once again interjected.
“What do mean, nothing?
We have to do something.” The same voice said in displeasure.
“You seem to have misunderstood me, my lord.
I didn’t say we should do nothing; we simply can do nothing.
There is nothing that can be done against the boy.
He is simply too smart and he has made sure to make a protective circle of superpowers around him.
Even if all of you attacked, you still won’t be able to kill him.” It was insulting but everyone knew that it was the truth.
“So all we can do for now is dismantle his forces from the inside then.” The vampire said to which everyone except Alastair nodded who simply shook his head in vain.
“Gain his trust, Sarah.
Get him alone.
We will handle the rest.” Julianna instructed to which, Sarah gave a bow and replied, “Yes, my queen.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Creation is hard, cheer me up!
