The Archangel of Death - Chapter 148
148: Main character’s death 148: Main character’s death Chapter 148 “I’ll be damned.” That hurt.
[And unpredictable] Exactly.
I wasn’t one to miss something and I had read the novel many times that night and knew every move of the main characters.
This move or skill wasn’t in the novel.
Whatever it was, it manifested now, during the academy.
[Could be because of your interference] ‘And would my interference have done that?’ It wasn’t impossible but a more logical and viable theory was time.
There was no guarantee that things would go the same as the novel had I done nothing from the beginning.
A human mind makes hundreds of decisions in a minute and chooses to go with one of them.
If in the novel Eric chose to go left, in this timeline, he could just as easily go right because he just thought of doing so.
That had nothing to do with my interference.
Things don’t always go the same.
The same was the case here or at least I thought it was.
I didn’t know any logical reason for her and many others’ growth than that.
I mean Eric was supposed to be a C- in this tournament yet here was, a C+ rank.
Anything was possible.
I stood up and stared at Sera.
Almost the whole of her body was covered by the shield so there was no chance of me being able to get past it.
also, she had another skill for someone who snuck behind her that made facing her tricky.
“I now see where you get your fire from.
Rose’s beauty can have the effect of jealousy on many other women.” I teased Sera which she didn’t take too kindly as she jumped at me with her shield in front of her and her spear ready to strike me.
“Did I hit a nerve?” I remarked as I stood still on my spot.
Just as Sera got close to me, I moved to the right and dodged her attack along with a few magic cannons falling on her.
Of course, that annoying skill that I mentioned earlier activated and covered her whole being in a transparent shield that prevented any damage.
Seeing no other choice, I equipped my dagger and slashed at Sera which she was able to block with her spear.
As our weapons collided, sparks followed after the collision.
Sera raised her spear to bring it down on me so I had to use my speed along with the ‘Sacred blessing’ to move out of the way.
When she didn’t find me at the spot, she once again looked around instead of looking back, completely giving away that she learned nothing from earlier.
“Over here,” I said to give Sera a heads-up.
I could have just as easily punctured her with my dagger but there was no fun in doing that.
The more your target struggled, the funnier it became.
Sera turned around, only to see my dagger coming at her face with a moderate speed.
I didn’t use my full speed for the same reason as earlier, to make her understand the difference between us brutally.
As my dagger was inches from Sera’s face, she jumped back in the air to avoid the strike.
Ridicule aside, that was a very good dodge.
I mean, her response was very good even if my speed wasn’t full or the fact that she was carrying the shield almost double in weight than her.
However, I had had enough fun.
It was time to get a little serious.
The disadvantage of such a big shield was the hindrance of vision.
I put my strength into my dagger and threw it at full speed while Sera was still in midair.
She couldn’t see my attack but even if she could, she wouldn’t have been able to dodge, and given how confident she was in her defensive abilities, she wouldn’t have dodged anyway.
My dagger struck Sera’s shield right in the middle, carrying her along with the force.
Of course, the damage was lessened quite a bit but it was still enough to number her arm with which she was carrying that big shield.
As she fell and lost her balance, I didn’t give her enough time to think and struck her shield once again with my full-powered fist.
If Sera can send damage back, I just have to make sure she doesn’t even know when the attack is coming to activate that skill.
She was pushed back by my hit and had to use her other hand to not fall.
Her shield was on top of her in this position and I didn’t hesitate to drop a perfect dropkick on it to make her fall.
She was still a little panicked so she couldn’t activate her skill in time which ended up throwing her on the ground.
Still, Sera’s body wasn’t fully visible from underneath her shield so I couldn’t do anything about it other than just raining ‘Magic cannons’ at her.
The ‘Sacred blessing’ was still in effect so my attacks were a little stronger.
She couldn’t roll because of the constant attack of ‘Magic cannons’ and all she could do was remain there and take reduced damage rather than risk moving and taking my full damage.
Inevitably, I ran out of MP before Sera ran out of patience and came out from under that shield.
That small break was all she needed to roll and stand up and jump away from me.
But the damage had been done, she was sufficiently injured and her efficiency wouldn’t be the same as before.
I didn’t let up and attacked Sera once again and pushed her back a little while I also took a little damage because she activated her skill but now that I knew that strong enough hits don’t only send a recoil back to the attacker, it also transferred a little shock to the wielder and Sera was sufficiently damaged.
After that was a simple fight of attack and defense where she could only helplessly defend against my attacks.
I was sure to slip past some attacks of ‘Magic cannons’ to injure her body as well.
In just a few minutes, she was a mess, barely standing with all her might.
I gave another big spinning kick to her shield and sent her tumbling across the stage.
She wouldn’t give up due to her pride and I knew another person wouldn’t be able to keep his patience and interfere.
For that, I had specifically asked Sirius to not interfere.
As she skidded across the floor, I equipped a sword and stabbed it into her leg before she could defend herself.
Her scream spread throughout the arena as pain assaulted her.
Some protests rang from the crowd but they didn’t matter.
All that mattered was the interference of one person.
He just needed a little more motivation to make his move.
I equipped two swords in each of my hands and pinned her other leg to the ground along with one of her hands.
With each pin, a scream left her mouth, each more devastating than the last one.
“STOP THIS MATCH AT ONCE!!” A shout rang from the arena along with a wave of mana which was blocked by another stronger wave of mana which belonged to Sirius who calmly said, “She just has to give up.
You know as well as I do that a match cannot be interfered with.
We cannot give her special treatment just because she is an apostle.” Ronald gritted his teeth with anger as he said, “SIRIUS!
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO IT BE THIS WAY?!!” Ronald was angry and so was half the arena.
Many wondered why such a brutal match was still going on.
I didn’t pay them much attention and impaled Sera in her right forearm with another sword.
She screamed but along with her, another scream spread throughout the arena with words such as, “YOU BASTARD!!!” Eric, the protagonist of this story was heading in my direction with his special sword brandished and his mana at full capacity.
I didn’t move from my spot and simply conjured reinforced ‘Celestial guard’ with half my MP just before his sword struck me.
the damage was completely negated and along with that, his anger a bit too as clarity began to set in.
I punched him in the nose before it fully did though.
As he staggered back, I spun and kicked him in the abdomen as well.
Just as I did, a shock emanated from the ground originating from the sky.
I smiled as what I intended to do was now happening.
I didn’t hold for a second and struck him again.
Then I punched Sera in the face to knock her out and equipped another sword, throwing it at Eric who couldn’t dodge in time and was stabbed in his left kidney.
“YOU!!!!!!!” Along with Ronald, someone else shouted from the crowd and jumped at me only to be stopped by a white blur which then cleared to become my uncle.
I smiled as they were in control.
I turned my attention to Eric and stabbed his other kidney to be just.
Just as I did, another strong tremor spread across the ground, this one even stronger than before while the sky began to split apart and lightning began to fall on the ground.
I didn’t let up for even a second and equipped another sword and pointed it at Eric’s heart.
Killing Sera was a good plan, killing Eric was even better because he would interfere if the world was going to collapse on itself.
“Nothing personal,” were the last words Eric heard before my sword stabbed his heart but stopped.
I didn’t stop my hand, it stopped along with everything else.
The world itself stopped as I raised my head to see a black lightning bolt just a few meters above the arena, inches away from turning me into smoked chicken.
My plan worked.
He was here.
