Do whatever you can in your power to make it happen.” I simply said without giving him a reason.

He stared at me for a while as I stared back at him.

After a few moments, he sighed and said, “Have it your way then.” He left after a few words of dissatisfaction that I chose to ignore.

Just as he left, another knock was heard on my door and I knew none of the girls wouldn’t knock so it must be someone different.

“Come in.” I allowed the entry of my new guest only to be surprised by the identity of my visitor.

“Well, color me surprised.

I didn’t think I would get a visit from you.” I didn’t intend to hide my irony given our relationship was purely physical or at least that was how she was convincing herself.

“Believe me, I am as surprised as you are,” Sophien said as she took a seat at the edge of my bed, just a small distance separating us.

“So, did you make it into the tournament?” I didn’t exactly want to dig deeper into our relationship right now so I changed the topic a bit.

“No.” She replied before she added, “I was but I gave it up for someone else.” “Quite generous of you.

Should I thank you then?” I asked.

“You are the first position.” Sophien corrected my misunderstanding.

“Then who is in the ninth?” I asked curiously.

“Sear Wondercraw.” She simply replied.

“Why should I be impressed?” I asked, trying to gauge how far she had guessed my plans.

She just raised an eyebrow at me which was all the answer I needed, “I could kiss you right now.” I said.

“You have to earn it before,” Sophien said.

“I must have really earned the first one then,” I said.

“That was just a heat of the moment.” She said before she stood up to leave.

“That fervor of yours had me misunderstood then,” I said with a smile.

“I’m not an easy girl, Adrian.” She said with a smile as she opened the door.

However, I was caught up in something else she said.

What did she just say?

“What?” I blurted.

“What?” She asked stopping in her tracks.

“You just said something,” I said.

“Ahh… I’m not a girl of loose character.” She rephrased but I knew she was hiding it.

She was denying the phrase ‘An easy girl’.

“I see,” I replied with a smile to which she smiled herself and left.

Sera’s primary role was a defender hence the big shield.

As for Adrian, he stood there empty-handed without a weapon or anything else.

Sera wasn’t a fool and she wasn’t taking any chances.

She had seen Adrian fight with weapons and she also knew that he had taken down an A+ rank monster albeit with the help of others.

But he was also a very good magician given he had perfected a simple spell of ‘Magic bullet’ to such a destructive extent.

Not only that, but he was also known for possessing many more skills many skills that were equally destructive.

The only confidence she had was that Adrian was wearing a limiter at the moment.

He simply stood there with his hands behind his back as he said, “After you.” The match was declared to begin and Sear instantly jumped at Adrian who stood still.

Sera swung her spear at Adrian only to feel nothing.

She couldn’t feel her strike connect with anything but air.

‘He’s not there.’ She thought as she examined the place he was just standing when she felt someone very close to her, a voice whispering in her ear, “Surely you got more than that.” Sera hurriedly jumped backward to create a distance between her and Adrian.

She saw Adrian standing still just like before with his hands behind his back.

Sera once again prepared herself and jumped, this time not striking until she was very close, and when she did, her strike was canceled by a layer of shield that just appeared out of nowhere.

Of course, the shield also broke under her assault and both of them were pushed a little distance away by the recoil.

‘She’s got the strength to back her up.’ Adrian thought as he put force into his feet.

It was his turn to attack.

Adrian shot himself at Sera who saw him coming at her and when he was close enough, she swung her spear, confident that it would hit only to once again hit nothing because just before Adrian got into the range of her strike, he stopped amid momentum.

“I can clearly see your moves,” Adrian said with a smile as he swung his fist.

Sear didn’t panic and calmly moved her shield to negate Adrian’s attack.

Sera didn’t even budge whereas Adrian felt the force he had used to attack returned to him with amplification.

[HP -32] “I will be damned,” Adrian commented with a sinister smirk.
