146: Rewards 146: Rewards Chapter 146 Ahh… Fu*k!

Every pore of my body hurt immensely as I slowly opened my eye, since from the looks of it, the moon shift vitality hadn’t kicked in and I was still one arm and one eye short.

I found myself in my familiar room and in the same atmosphere as when I had received soul damage in the last test.

I only hope it doesn’t become a regular thing.

The room wasn’t empty as I could three presences in the room.

One sitting close to me with her hands on me and warm currents entering my body from my left arm.

One paced inside the room restlessly and another one focused on me who was the first one to say, “ADRAIN!!” Rose’s worry would have been a lot more endearing if my head wasn’t splitting apart.

Alicia stopped healing me and Laura stopped pacing around the room and both of them again yelled my name to remind me that I was Adrian.

[By splitting your head apart] ‘I covered that up, Ms question Dodger.’ [Please tell me that name won’t stick] I ignored her and raised my hand to quell everyone before I checked my MP.

It was sufficient so I used ‘High heal’ along with ‘Moon shift vitality’ and my wounds began to get better.

I was mainly focused on my eye with the regeneration so it regenerated first and as for my arm, I would give it a slow heal as I checked my status.

I could feel some changes in me, some good some bad, mostly good, and not many bad like permanent bad so I was peachy on that front.

“What happened?” I asked first and foremost.

“The dungeon deformity stopped after two days of its beginning and the headmaster, along with all others barged in to save the students.

There wasn’t much hope but they found you all, everyone was all right except for you, on the verge of death.” Alicia’s voice trembled when she said the last part.

I didn’t know how to make it any better so I simply moved on from the topic.

At least they weren’t angry with me for now.

“What about the tournament?” I asked next which I was most worried about.

If the tournament was canceled, all my plans would go down the drain and I would need another excuse to almost start a war.

“Is that what you should be worried about right now?!” Laura yelled, not happy with my questions that didn’t suit my current condition in the least.

“It may look like I am gravely injured, but trust me, I’m not.

Don’t worry, I will be all right.” I quelled her worries but that only made her angrier.

“Don’t worry!

Adrian, you could have died.

You were on the verge of death and you are saying don’t worry.

How can I not worry when I see you in that condition?

How can I not worry when you were almost dead for people who aren’t even remotely related to you?

Did you for once even think how hard it would be for us to see you like that!?” Laura yelled and yelled and yelled out her worries.

[Still think they aren’t angry?] Oh, they were.

Rose and Laura have a little meek personality so they weren’t yelling at me but from the looks on their faces, they agreed with everything Laura said.

“I did think about you.

All of you.

So please do not think for a moment that I wasn’t worried about myself.

I was just worried about others more.” I simply replied.

“WHY?!

WHY WERE YOU WORRIED ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DON’T EVEN CARE?!!!” Laura screamed that I was pretty sure the entire villa would have heard.

But I’m sure the people in the guest rooms and living room, waiting for me to wake up, would be sensible and not come in while I calmed my girlfriend.

“Come here,” I asked her as I opened my arm at her.

“No.

You are not getting out of this so easily.” Laura outright refused to be affectionate because she knew it was her weak point.

All of them were the same but I still insisted.

My arm still opened as I said, “Just come here, I will explain everything.” Reluctantly, she came to my side but didn’t enter my embrace.

Alicia and Rose were also looking for an explanation with their eyes fixed on me.

“Look, saving people, that’s my responsibility.

It is what makes me, me.

I have to save people even at my own expense.” I said, keeping myself to the point so they wouldn’t have any questions about my morals.

“Why?

Who gave you this responsibility?” Laura argued.

At least she didn’t leave my side so she was at least willing to listen.

“No one.

And that’s the thing.

Had someone else given me this responsibility, it would have been a duty, a chore but it isn’t because I have given this responsibility to myself.

It would make me extremely happy if the women I love were happy with this decision of mine because this is who I am, the man you fell in love with and I cannot change.

For no one, even myself.” I explained myself as best as I could.

I wouldn’t change for them even though I love them, but I won’t change because if I had to compromise, I would have done that the first time.

If I didn’t then, then I would never do it now or ever.

Laura didn’t say anything, either she was mad or speechless about my reply, and she left the room without another word.

Alicia looked me in the eyes for a moment before she also sighed and left saying, “I cannot even argue with that myself.” She was a healer herself so she knew what saving people meant.

As for the pink-haired beauty who hadn’t said a word since the beginning except for announcing to the villa that I was up, said nothing but left with a huff.

[Well now you know which one of them is angry for sure] ‘Thanks for the obvious.’ Rose was angry with my decision but I knew she would get over it.

I was her priority and to her, other people didn’t mean much so when the choice came between me and some other people, I knew who she would choose so it was a little difficult for her to agree with me when she didn’t understand my point so well.

Well then, now that we are alone for a few minutes, how about we check our progress?

[You have defeated a Shapeshifter (A+)] [You have received 1,000,000 EXP] [You have received 1,000,000 coins] [You have received ‘Mask of Deception’] [INT stat has increased by 50] [CHR stat has increased by 50] [You have received the life essence of a Shapeshifter] [Level up x22] [You are now level 258] [EXP 30,69080,000] What a haul.

But that wasn’t all.

I was sure there would be an achievement for such a big change but unfortunately, there wasn’t.

Maybe it was because it wasn’t Eric’s opportunity in the first place.

Eric gained nothing from this incident and if my assumption about the shapeshifter coming out as Asmara was right and the plot about that was in the eighth volume which I didn’t know about, then rather than a gain, it was a loss.

What kind of loss was it?

I had no idea since I hadn’t read the eighth volume.

Other than that, was this.

It was not as massive as earlier, but the weight of life had increased by a lot.

[You have amassed an amazing amount of life energy] [The will of life is satisfied with you] [Level up] [Level up] [You are now level 260] [EXP 30,690100,000] I was quite satisfied with my level-ups but considering the enemy I had faced, it was amazing.

Still, this wasn’t the biggest reward.

The biggest reward up until now was this.

[Current life element composition at 2.71] The life element strand inside of me had increased by a whopping one and a half whole.

Which meant I wasn’t far from the third strand.

Also, because I had never gotten to this point with the life element, the light skills all increased by one level.

[Skill ‘High heal’ is now level 9] [Skill ‘Moon shift vitality’ is now level 9] [Skill ‘Magic cannon’ is now level 6] [Skill ‘Celestial Guard’ is now level 6] [Skill ‘Sacred blessing’ is now level 6] All in all, I was very happy with my progress.

Especially the skills because they had stopped progressing because of their high level-up requirement.

I guess now I would have to increase my life strand to level them up much more efficiently than just using them.

[And now that you are done with the good part of everything, I guess it is time to get to the bad part] ‘Fine, show me.’ [Soul damage at 55%] [All stats decreased by 55%] [Please fix the soul damage to remove the Debuff] I had pushed myself too far, almost to the verge of death, and using the authority of AyaAkusa on my teeth to cut into the Shapeshifter used my soul again since I didn’t have the soul power yet.

‘Haa…’ I sighed as I hoped deeply that the tournament wasn’t canceled because I needed to progress my plans very soon if I didn’t want to be in a similar situation again.
