The Archangel of Death - Chapter 137
137: Dungeon deformity (1) 137: Dungeon deformity (1) Chapter 137 An artificial deformity.
The dungeon was going through changes and the changes were not pleasant in the least.
I mean, imagine a bunch of kids fighting ants an entire rank above them.
Except for Asmara and Sasha, everyone else was struggling.
Justified, so I didn’t criticize them over it.
The rank of the dungeon was slowly increasing and the monster had gotten from C- to B- slowly and steadily.
With this logic, the boss of this section, the guard of the ant queen would be B rank.
If we were to follow the same logic.
If not, then I think we have a bit of work ahead of us.
“What do you think is happening?
Why has the difficulty suddenly increased?” Asmara asked as she lowered her pace and came next to me.
Her fiery red eyes were on guard while she kept half of her attention on me.
“A dungeon deformity.” I simply replied which made the entire party freeze in its tracks.
“Are you serious?” One of the extras asked.
“Oh yeah,” I replied as I continued my pace.
“Then we should get out of here.” Another extra said.
“You’re free to try but the exit is gone.
The only way to get out of here is by eliminating the boss.” I replied but didn’t stop.
Asmara didn’t stop for long and continued after me.
Sasha did the same and a few of the extras did too but three of the extras were not in favor as one of them said, “But shouldn’t we at least try?” “Try if you want but I’m not going back all the way with you.
And if you’re confident in making your way back there alone, do try.” I nonchalantly refused and continued my walk forward.
The sooner we dealt with this, the better.
“Wouldn’t it be better if all of us go back?” Another extra argued.
“It wouldn’t be because then, we would all be wasting our time.” I retorted and continued going forward.
Besides, these brats weren’t idiots.
They knew the risks involved going back and the longer we waited, there was a chance the grade of the dungeon might increase even more.
Not the risk I was willing to take under the present condition because if the grade of the boss turned out to be an A+, then we were all dead and I wasn’t confident enough to take out an A+ with my stats halved and my current condition.
[You could always ditch them] ‘I would in a heartbeat but Asmara and Sasha wouldn’t.’ I mean I don’t take lives for no reason but the same was true in vice versa.
I won’t go the extra mile to save someone who wanted to die intentionally while putting everyone else in danger.
I would gladly let go of them and let them fall.
“But…” Another one tried to argue but he was shushed by Asmara as she prepared her sword as we all felt the vibrations soon afterwards.
The vibrations didn’t seem to remain constant but increased with each second.
[That doesn’t sound like good news] ‘No shxt.’ [MP potion consumed] [MP has fully recovered] [Sacred blessing] [Target selected ten] [500 MP consumed] “Defensive positions.
Mages at the rear and heavy shield wielders at the front.
Attackers in the middle.
Remain defensive and only attack when the opportunity presents itself.” I shouted orders which brought the entire group out of their reverie.
Sasha and Asmara did exactly that and following them, the rest of the students did so too but the three extra from before said something along the lines of, “Why should we listen to you?” I ignored them, obviously, and came to the front of the party.
“Remain defensive and only attack those that make it past me.” They nodded and I equipped the dagger of Desaant along with a sword that gave a decent damage but no extra effects.
I also equipped all the armor in my inventory that I could and prepared myself.
This was going to be very difficult.
I really wished I had chosen the authority of the Phoenix.
I braced myself as a swarm of ants that covered the entire cavern appeared in my view.
[Celestial guard] [Magic canon] [MP potion consumed] [MP has fully recovered] I shot the already conjured magic canon at the ant swarm and let the others take me, though I didn’t let them pass.
One hit of mine cleaved through several ants before it lost its intensity but I had a dagger on the other hand that also cleaved through a lot of ants.
But, they were a lot from my point of view, from a third point of view, I hadn’t even killed about five percent of them.
I didn’t stop and kept going.
I moved and moved and consumed potion after potion.
[HP -12] [HP -13] [HP -27] Of course, I was also taking damage along the way.
It wasn’t a lot of damage but it was stacking up and soon I was halfway to my HP and there were still a lot of ants remaining.
Some ignored me and made their way to the people behind me.
I didn’t worry about them and kept myself focused on my front.
Rarely an ant passed me and the students behind me were enough to deal with them.
[HP potion consumed] [HP fully restored] [MP potion consumed] [MP fully recovered] [Sacred blessing] [Celestial guard] [Magic bullet] [Eclipse] Skill after skill and potion after potion and still, my stamina was hitting rock bottom and even the stamina potion wasn’t helping anymore.
I really needed to do something about my soul.
[Ants 12833887] There were still about one-third of the ants left and my body was reaching its limit.
I kept going even though my body was at the limit and my limbs were aching.
[Stamina potion consumed] [Stamina recovered by 10%] The stamina potion was basically useless at this point and magical attacks weren’t working so well against these critters.
That only left me with one option.
“SASHA!!!” I shouted with all my might, hoping that Sasha could hear me, “PREPARE A WAVE.
AND SHOOT IT AT MY SIGNAL.” I didn’t know if she got my message or not considering they were also busy so all I could do was put my faith in her and give the signal.
If it worked then all is well but if it didn’t, that would be pretty embarrassing.
“NOW!!!” I shouted as I turned and ran in the direction of the team, I saw Sasha’s palm open in my direction and mana visibly coagulating in front of the party.
Phew.
Saved from embarrassment.
I was just about to pass the place from where the wave would conjure and flow in the direction of the ants any moment when my foot was caught by something.
I turned to see my foot stuck in the mouth of an ant.
I was about to kill it when the wave overtook me along with the ants.
It wouldn’t have if I hadn’t stopped but it did and now I was being swept away with the ants.
The water was still flowing from the spot from where Sasha had used her skill.
Suddenly, a hand caught my hand.
I raised my head still engulfed in water to see a red-haired maiden holding my hand with one hand while with the other, she was holding her sword that was stabbed into the ground.
The sword was stabbed into the area outside of the wave formation so if she could just pull me out, we would both be saved.
The only problem was that I was also being pulled from the other end.
[Desperate times, desperate measures] ‘Easy for you to say.’ I quipped and without hesitation, cut my foot with my dagger, and instantly, we both made it out of the water, rolling onto the ground as the force carried us both away.
How good would it have been if I also had an anime landing?
Unfortunately, my face met the cavern wall and it hurt more emotionally than physically.
“Are you crazy!?” Asmara yelled as soon as she stood up.
I also stood up only with the support of the wall.
“Relax.” I waved my hand as I used high heal to stop the bleeding.
“The ant would have bitten it off anyway.” I wasn’t worried in the least since I had the skill regeneration.
Of course, complete separation of the limbs would take a lot of MP to recover not to mention a lot of time.
Asmara wanted to say something but I simply shook my head at her, stopping her from pursuing the issue.
There was another issue at hand right now.
[You have slain a B- rank ant x2312] [You have gained 23,120 EXP] [You have received 231,200,000 coins] [You have slain a B rank ant x1524] [You have obtained 152,400 EXP] [You have obtained 152,400,000 coins] [You have slain a B+ rank ant x51] [You have obtained 51,000 EXP] [You have obtained 5,100,000 coins] [You have leveled up x10] [EXP 352028000] As much as happy as I would like to be, I just realized that this dungeon would be a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, and maybe, just maybe, we may not make it out of here alive.
