135: The dungeon event 135: The dungeon event  Chapter 135 “Marvelous!

Please, give these students an applause who have made it this far with great difficulty.” Sirius once again gave a speech.

A speech that was as boring as hell as the first one.

[I thought you loved speeches] ‘Only when I’m the one giving them.’ Anyway, the preliminaries, which weren’t difficult in the least unlike our dear headmaster says so, were finally over on Friday, and today on Monday, after a two-day rest, we have come across a test that would mete out more of the students among the sixty present today however, even though the apostles and the holy saint would have to take part in today’s event.

The dungeon clearance.

The task was simple, six teams of ten students, and the first three teams would win.

And advance to the next round of qualifications.

The above-mentioned guys would still advance even if their teams failed so that wasn’t much of a problem.

“Rose, come here,” I said while Sirius was still giving his speech.

Since the crowd wasn’t too much, I didn’t make much of a ruckus.

“Yes?” She innocently asked.

“Give me your hand.” She blushed as she remembered the incident from three days ago that shouldn’t be mentioned here, but gave me her hand nonetheless.

[You were shameless] ‘I was sleeping.’ I grabbed Rose’s hand and touched the bracelet on her hand.

Just because they have given us appropriate compensation to be limited doesn’t mean we have to be limited.

‘Do it.’ [Blocking the mana dampener] [Bypass successful] Good.

Now the mana dampener would still work but it won’t limit her power anymore.

Rose must have felt it as she said, “Adrian…” “Shh…” I shushed her and she nodded her head.

“Good, now go and win this beautiful,” I said while letting go of her.

She smiled and blushed but still went back to her own lineup next to my line.

Guess what my lineup was?

Seven extras, one Asmara, and one Sasha.

Including me that made it ten so there were ten of us.

[It’s not the same] Nope, it wasn’t.

In the novel, Sasha was part of Eric’s group which would explain why he was so tense and kept glancing in our direction from time to time.

Whatever, I wasn’t interested in this part.

I just hope that I can encounter Sera in the quarter-finals so that I can finish this useless charade.

“And now, the moment that you had all been waiting for has come!” Sirius created more hype about the moment I wasn’t waiting for at all.

“Now, let the dungeon fest begin!!!” He exclaimed and cheers bloomed over a lame name.

Dungeon fest?

What kind of event name was that?

In the world of fifty sha*es of Gr*y, this would have held an entirely different meaning.

[Wouldn’t you like that?] ‘Contrary to what you might think, I’m not into submissive women.’ The event ahead was simple.

Sirius took a lot of time to explain the rules and such but the summary of all that was very simple.

Go in with a team, play nice with the team, kill the monsters with the team, and then come out… [With the team] It was all bullsh*t.

A team leader wasn’t decided so there would be fights for that.

The strong would prevail while the weak ones could only follow.

Then there would be differences of opinion in case two parties of equal strength came to be in a team.

In other words, it was competition, not with just the other teams but inside the team as well.

A permanent category for those who rule and those who follow would be decided here.

[They are pushing every student against each other under the name of friendly competition] ‘Turning them against each other is more like it.’ Not that I find anything with their approach but twisting their truth is what I find disgusting.

They should tell the students how things were as they were.

Twisting everything would later make everyone realize one thing, ‘They were all lies’.

They were all lies, that’s what they would think, and doing so, some might not take it so well.

One such example was Zefton who figured out that all his competition life was invoked by the academy and he would come to hate them in the end.

An even more severe example was Aaron, the best friend of the MC.

Like being forever in the shadow of someone wasn’t worse, his complex had to be fanned even more making him one of the main villains in the novel.

[The truth is sometimes even worse] ‘That doesn’t make lying a good thing.’ That was why I wanted to be done with it as soon as possible.

I had also told the girls not to be so serious about it.

If they make it to the end, they should dominate, if they can’t, there was no need to fuss over it.

“The dungeons that our students have to finish are as follows.

A seven-door connected dungeon that the academy has managed to keep for such promising candidates.

The dungeon is an ant colony.

The boss lies in the seventh door but the teachers would take care of that.

The students have to finish the other six dungeons with one general each.

Many factors would be counted while clearing the dungeon such as casualties, state of the students, time taken, fastest clear and the easiest clear, and such.

Know that you can die in this dungeon if you are not serious enough so always be on your toes and be careful.

Although the teachers would also be in the dungeon overserving you, sometimes some things cannot be prevented even in the presence of an overseer.

Good luck.” Sirius explained everything in one breath and then left the stage.

Desmond took his place and said, “Now that you are all aware of the rules we can head in however, before we do that, keep this in mind, something that the headmaster forgot to mention.

Harm a fellow student unintentionally and you will be kicked out of the academy.” Desmond counted the last of the rules that Sirius didn’t forget to mention, he just didn’t do so because he wanted Desmond to.

Desmond has more fear in the hearts of the students than the headmaster.

It was a C-rank dungeon that was being used for the test.

Seriously, what would I gain from a C-rank dungeon?

[A lot of coins] No, I won’t.

I can’t hunt as freely with these guys unless I separate from them but separating wasn’t really an option.

The event was in the first place a team-based event even though it was a sham in reality.

We all began to enter the dungeon with one team each and finally, it was team six’s turn which was ours.

We entered and appeared in a cold cave where there were many smaller pathways of caves going who knows where.

When we entered, instead of preparing, everyone began to look at each other.

I knew those looks.

They were looking for someone to take charge.

Well, it obviously wasn’t me because I wasn’t interested.

That left only two candidates.

Hot and hotter.

Asmara and Sasha.

The fiery queen and the fairy of waves.

There was a rumor that both Asmara and Sasha were at odds for some reason.

I didn’t know and I didn’t care but when two beauties stand in front of you, glaring at each other in a daringly close distance, it’s a scene not many can avert their eyes from.

“I think someone needs to take command,” Sasha said in a cold voice.

“I think the same,” Asmara replied in an equally cold tone.

“Then we both know who should be the one appropriate in this case, right?” Sasha said, her cold tone not going anywhere.

“Of course,” Asmara replied in an equally cold tone.

And those were some enjoyable minutes of my life in which a catfight was about to start but then for some reason, they both remained quiet while staring into each other eyes.

I mean, where was the traditional girl fight?

Where was the name-calling?

Where was the hair ripping?

Where was the overturning of both parties that would be as hot as hell?

Asmara turned to me and asked, “What do you think, Adrian?

Who would be more suitable to lead this expedition?” What?

Why was she asking me?

Just jump at each other and settle it?

[Tone your fantasies down] “Well, to be honest, I don’t know Sasha much so I cannot say for sure but I do know that you have exceptional battle skills for this level and you would do well,” I replied, giving my analysis.

To be honest, I wasn’t really interested but I also couldn’t just treat it like nothing.

I may not be interested but that doesn’t mean I like failing.

“Well, he said it.” Asmara bragged to Sasha as if she had won a great battle.

Sasha turned to me and said, “I have exceptional battle skills too.

I also have knowledge of the monster’s weaknesses.

I don’t just train like a barbarian but make an effort to train my mind too.” Sasha said all this in one breath and I couldn’t help but think, ‘What was this?

A marriage interview?’ “Hah!

What’s the use of appealing yourself when he has already declared me fit?” Asmara said with a smug on her face.

“He said he doesn’t know about me much.

Once that changes, I might be more suitable for this than you.” Sasha countered.

“What?

Just accept the results.” Asmara said, a little annoyed.

“I’m just saying it’s unfair.” Sasha simply replied which annoyed Asmara even more.

Seriously, just fight.

“Do you want to fight?!” Asmara said out loud.

Yes!

“I don’t fight barbarians.” Sasha retorted.

NO~~ [Sacred blessing] [Magic canons] While the girls were bickering, a few ants made their way to the cavern from all of the smaller caves.

I empowered myself and used magic canons to kill all of the ants that appeared.

Since their numbers were quite large, I obtained 270,000 coins just from them.

though no experience was a bummer.

I also obtained no item from them which meant they had nothing useful inside of them.

“Look, as much as I would like you two to duke it out, do know that you shouldn’t take more than two minutes for this decision because the monsters won’t wait.” Both of them listened attentively when I said that.

“Now, here’s what we are going to do,” I said once more, “You both will be in charge of this operation.

Cover each other’s flaws and end this thing quietly.

There is nothing wrong with having two kings for just this many number of people.” Asmara and Sasha both nodded and after an exchange of their eyes, Asmara began, “Two teams of three with me and Sasha in charge.

One at the rear and the other at the front.

Adrian would be in the middle because not only does he possess a long-range attack skill, but he is also a healer.

One member will guard him.

The front team would be a vanguard team so someone that can tank heavy attacks and defend while the rear team would be comprised of long-range attackers and if there aren’t many, then long-range attackers.” Asmara’s strategy was simple and effective hence why I praised her at the beginning.

“Then I will take the rear since my water skill has great effectiveness in rear defense.” Sasha took it upon herself to deal with the riskier task.

I nodded in appreciation.

[At yourself?] ‘At myself.’ I prevented a fight, I should be commended for preventing a war that would last centuries.

Although I would have loved for them to fight, I guess I should be happy with just this for now.

Settled, we decided to move in deeper in the dungeon but that was when I felt something strange.

Didn’t Desmond say that there would be a team of teachers to protect us?

Then why can’t I sense anyone in here except for us?
