129: Another situation 129: Another situation Chapter 129 “Welcome.

I hope you didn’t waste your break.” The class was in session and that was the first thing Desmond said when he entered the class.

“Now usually, I would begin with all the usual studies but before we begin today, I want to announce that from tomorrow onward, there will be no optional classes.

The third test doesn’t focus on that anyway.

Instead, I’m sure you all know but I will tell you in case, the tournament Bellator will be starting tomorrow.” “I know you haven’t prepared because it is a sudden announcement but that tournament lasts two weeks.

The first week is preliminary and will take place after morning classes.

The second week would be the main tournament during which there would be no classes.

Any questions?” Desmond asked after thoroughly explaining the necessary points.

Many raised their hands but I didn’t.

I already knew what it was all about.

It was also the volume in which Adrian died and Rose became free.

Of course, now Adrian was me and Rose was more free than ever.

But that doesn’t change the fact that an accident occurred during the tournament and many students died.

One of them was me slash the original Adrian.

Anyway, not my concern.

My concern was Eric’s reaction.

So far, I had no contact with Eric.

Nothing major at least.

Now the problem was that I needed someone to integrate death into me while I integrated life.

I know life is currently less than death inside me but I was sure I would have at least the second strand completed by then.

Now I know who was going to help me with it but I wasn’t sure how this would impact future events.

Will I become Eric’s enemy or not?

Because if I do, I know I wouldn’t be able to kill him given the space was almost ripped apart when his life was threatened by the spirit.

[He must be a space-time anomaly] ‘Maybe he is disrupting the time stream or the space.

Or both at the same time and he is interlinked in a way that it is impossible to untangle both of them.’ [Then it seems you have only one choice] ‘Well if that choice doesn’t involve creating a singularity, then there is only one other thing I can do.’ But that doesn’t mean I would compromise.

If Eric was going to become my enemy, so be it.

I had bigger fish to fry than worrying about a self-righteous hypocrite.

[A self-righteous hypocrite who is also heavily linked with the continuum of the laws] And that too.

But for now, my biggest concern was the integration.

With the soul damage as strong as it was, there was no guarantee that completing the fourth step, the soul discovery would undo the damage instantly.

There was a chance that it still might take some time from three to four months further.

Until then, all my stats would still be under penalty so until then, the integration of death and life would help a lot.

Of course, doing so would regress the levels of my skills as well since the strands were what kept them as strong as they currently were.

[All in good time] [But I think you need to focus on Asmara] [The system might deliver the consequences of the quest] ‘I’m not scared.’ [You may not be] [And the decision may not affect you much either] [But nothing is illogical] [And the system isn’t as well] [There must be a reason why it is forcing such a decision on you] ‘Are you saying Asmara is somehow connected to the Alicia thing in volume seven?’ [Or to something entirely else] [But the fact remains that whatever it is, Eric must get closer to her] [You need to intervene before that happens] ‘You’re right.’ However, I have no idea how to deal with this problem.

Asmara may not hate me anymore as before but I doubt mine and her relationship was stronger than hers and Eric’s.

[Sophien was the same] ‘But the circumstances were different.’ ‘You may not have noticed, but Sophien didn’t lean much towards love.’ ‘Her actions were more on the casual side.’ [For a womanizer, you don’t understand women much] ‘And I never will for all eternity.’ “And only the finalists would be awarded with something according to their ranks.” Desmond finished the Q&A session while I was busy conversing with Allison.

To be honest, I wasn’t very interested in this tournament.

I was curious about how Adrian died because it wasn’t shown but other than that, I only had one objective from this tournament and I didn’t need to finish first for that.

The class began and came to an end without any special events.

For a class full of main characters, there was really much less drama than I had suspected.

Maybe because it was still the start and Eric hadn’t come into contact with the second years.

Just like every cliché academy novel, the main characters of this one would also get into a quarrel with the seniors of this institute.

Although Eric’s special title as an apostle helped a lot in the first year, his title as the son of a baron was still stuck to him and the second years would for no logical reason at all, hold it against him.

Especially the second crown candidate, Lincoln’s brother.

I have interfered with him so his target might also be me but I was sure he would still target Eric as per the crown prince’s orders and his own inflated ego.

[Something to worry about later] ‘You’re right.’ The class continued and Desmond once again dwelled on magical theory which although I understood it, was utterly useless for me.

Still, it doesn’t hurt to be a model student while checking out a few girls in the class.

I mean, that’s all that student life’s all about, right?

[You’re on the path of quick death] ‘Women’s instinct.

Nothing can be done about that.’ Laura was focused on me, so I had no choice but to stare only at her but that in turn offended Alicia and Rose to some extent.

I could notice that Sophien wasn’t bothered and from the way she was smiling, I could tell she found the situation amusing.

===== Classes ended and I found myself before the mercenary guild.

The usual receptionist guided me to Balder who greeted me as he asked, “How can I help you, Sir?” Since I wasn’t in disguise this time but myself, he couldn’t recognize who it was.

“Well Balder, it was you who asked to see my face.” Balder was confused for a moment but after noticing the familiarity and my usual laidback attitude, his eyes widened to the limit when he figured out who I was.

“You… You… But… How… Why would you…” Tens of questions must be going through his head but he was also having trouble spelling them properly.

“You know; it would have been a lot easier if I had just worn the mask,” I said while he was still stuttering, putting a stop to his stutters.

He stopped, and stared at me for a while before he sighed and said, “It would have been.” “So, what news do you have for me, Balder?” I asked once he had calmed down.

“Well, the turtle’s shell isn’t so strong anymore.” He replied in a roundabout way.

I laughed at his words.

The boss of the turtles was known for his defense.

Actually, the entire gang was but now their defense had fallen by a lot.

“Marvelous!

And any news about the potions?” I asked.

“No idea.

However, they are looking for you.

They have even commissioned the mercenary guild to inform them if you were seen here.” Balder informed me.

‘And what’s the situation?’ [Not all of them took them but all the options are used] [The boss took eleven of them] I smiled broadly which confused Balder as the news he had delivered was worrying but here I was, smiling.

Well, anyone would when they had the boss of a major organization in their hands.

The same parasite I used to kill Darren had now taken place in Big Poppa’s heart.

And Darren had only one of them, but this guy had eleven of them.

Even if he was an S rank, there was no way he could do anything about it now.

Ahhh….

I can only imagine the sweet, sweet experience I would gain from so many S ranks.

‘NO!

Control.

Look at the bigger picture.’ Killing Big Poppa wouldn’t raise my level by much but what would raise my wealth surely would be a war between the gangs.

After all, after their death, someone would have to take charge of the redevelopment of the land.

And guess who just got himself an ally in the form of a headmaster?

Haha!

Soon enough I would be swimming in gold.

“There is another thing that you should know about, the backers of the wild turtles have taken notice of the crux of the issue.

The seven kingdoms have involved themselves upon learning about the magical potion that restores mana.

Although the wild turtles have used them all, the seven kingdoms now know the origin of the potions.

You.” Balder stated another point which I wasn’t very worried about.

The kingdoms were already out for me, nothing would change with one more addition of the motive.

[Not if they choose another method] [Someone has been acting like a womanizer lately] ‘Do you seriously think I would be swayed by a girl?’ […] [There is a possibility.] ‘Okay.

There might be a tiny bit of possibility of that happening.

Depends on the goods.’ [You’re hopeless] ‘I am.’ “Don’t worry about that.

just focus on what I asked you to.

I will take care of the rest.” I said to Balder before moving to the point I was here for.

“Any news from the other side?” I asked, emphasizing the ‘other side’ part.

Balder raised his eyebrow suspiciously for a while before he replied, “Unless you have killed a vampire prince, you have nothing to worry about.” “What do you mean?” I asked, feigning curiosity.

“Someone killed a duke-rank vampire recently.

It wouldn’t have been a big deal but the vampire was the grandson of the vampire king.

The vampires are preparing heavily for it.

Reports say they intend to attack the human who did it with full force.” Balder informed.

“How heavy?” I asked, once again acting curious.

“About five thousand strong vampires.

They have been gathering at Rosher under the disguise of training but the close human cities have been evacuated even if they are one to two days apart.” Balder replied.

I was about to say something when he said, “And that’s not all.

The crown prince, the next one to take the vampire king’s seat, also the father of the dead vampire has himself come to oversee the ‘training’.

Trust me, lad, a war is coming.

The seven kingdoms are worried and a meeting will soon be held during the tournament Bellator.” Balder said in a serious voice.

While he did so, I imagined how funny his reaction would be when I said the cause of all of this was me.

I laughed inwardly but held it in.

“So trust me when I say this, the seven kingdoms would come after you strongly because of the miraculous potion.

After all, they are terrified and soon will be desperate.

Even though they have nothing to do with it, the vampires still need to cross them to enter the human world.” Balder once again seriously warned me.

Well, the geography of this world was like that so yes, if any of the other races wanted to come here, they would need to cross the seven kingdoms, unless they could somehow open a teleportation circle large enough to transport thousands of soldiers.

[True surprise is still hidden though] ‘Of course it is.’ The seven kingdoms were only worried about five thousand vampires.

They thought the vampires were alone.

They weren’t.

The alliance when it would be revealed, would heavily shock the world.

That reminds me, the head butler did mention something about an elven envoy waiting to meet me.
