The Archangel of Death - Chapter 128
128: Another Hearing?
128: Another Hearing?
Chapter 128 Sophien struggled for a few seconds but couldn’t break free.
I smiled as I came close to her face and said, “Looks like I won.” She didn’t reply but caught me off guard with a move that even I never expected.
She smashed her lips into mine and it did catch me off guard but I wasn’t the one to turn away such a pleasant surprise.
I returned the kiss with full fervor, my tongue invading her lips, overlapping with her which she welcomed.
As our tongues wrestled, she began to squirm a little, trying to slip from me.
Inevitably, my grip on her loosened and that was exactly the opportunity she was looking for.
She abruptly turned and I was now once again below her.
She pulled a small knife from her ankle and pointed it at my eye.
“I won.” She said, with a smile that excited me a lot.
“You cheated,” I argued.
“And that changed the result?” She countered with an eyebrow raised.
I couldn’t help but smile as I said, “It’s my loss then.” “Is it?” She skeptically asked.
“Not really,” I replied with a smile.
She moved a little and inevitably, felt something between her thighs.
“Seriously?” She didn’t back away and asked.
“It would be a sin to not be excited in the presence of a beauty,” I replied in my defense.
She laughed and said, “It’s a pity then.
I’m not into womanizers.” “Really?” I asked, doubt evident in my voice, “Your lips and tongue didn’t seem to have the same view.” “They have a mind of their own.” She replied as she came closer to me but passed me and whispered in my ear just as I had done, “Maybe they were thanking you for the dress.” She didn’t let me reply as she got off, picked up her dagger, and left without a word.
I remained in the same spot as I said out loud, “Man, working with her from now on would be awesome.” [You are indeed a womanizer] ‘Life is too short.’ [That’s your defense?] ‘There is no defense for this.’ I replied as I stood up and walked over to the window to glance at my city.
I couldn’t help but think of my actions so far.
The events so far and the way I had dealt with them.
of course, there could have been many better ways to deal with things but the situations opted me to deal with them the way I did.
“Hey,” I called Allison without bothering to talk to her through my head, “There’s something that I have been wondering.” [What?] “I didn’t get any achievements,” I replied.
[For what?] “I mean; Eric came into Cornelius’ good books after resolving the problem in the Saranhoff city.
I should have gotten an achievement since I blocked that path of his, right?” It just didn’t make any sense.
So far, I have been getting something in return for taking away Eric’s opportunity but this time I got nothing.
[Look beyond the stat increase] [You already got one] “That’s where you’re wrong.
Sophien wasn’t a love interest for Eric in the novel.” I argued.
[Then maybe it isn’t Sophien] [But something she has] And then it suddenly clicked inside me.
The power of shadows.
Now I know what I need to do to increase my skill level for ‘Shadow verse’.
“So when’s my birthday in this body?” I asked.
[I should have figured that your mind would go straight to the gutter] “…” […] [Eleven months] “I will patiently wait for eleven months.” [Thirteen] “Why?” [That’s when Sophien’s birthday is] “Fu*k.” “She hasn’t awakened it yet, has she?” [You know what awakens it] [Don’t ask stupid questions] “Yeesh.
No need to get harsh on me.” And now I need to somehow awaken her power.
In the novel, it was her apostle god who guided her to awaken her powers.
The problem was, that the way to awaken her power wasn’t a very ethical method.
Basically, she needs to dig up her mother’s grave.
[You got some work ahead of you] “Yep.
Because in the novel, she was desperate.” [Why do you think she won’t be now?] “Isn’t it obvious?
Don’t ask stupid questions” The answer was simple.
Now she had me.
So all it comes down to whether I want to put her through a bad time to raise my own power or just simply indulge myself in an extremely beautiful girl and raise my power and hers the hard way.
The choice was obvious.
[You’re a pervert] “A chivalric pervert.” I sighed.
The fun part was over.
Now was the time to do some unquestionable things.
“Begin.” ===== “Keep a good eye on everything.
You have experts with you but the final decisions lie with you.
Do what your morals tell you to.
Understood?” I instructed Max as I and all those who needed to head back to the academy were waiting for the teleporter to charge.
“I understand, my liege.” Max nodded, not overselling anything.
He simply heeded my instructions.
I was sure that when it came to people, Max’s decisions would be the correct ones.
“The teleportation circle is ready, Your Highness.” A servant informed to which I simply nodded and entered the circle along with everyone else.
As we appeared on the other side of the portal, I saw the head butler, whose name I should really ask, some other time, waiting for me.
But what caught my attention was the nervous expression on his face.
I kind of understand what was happening.
Since I couldn’t be brought to the court, the court was brought to me.
[You sound quite sure] ‘I’m familiar with how things work in this world.’ The people, no matter the world, were the same as anywhere else.
A mistake if they wrong someone else but a sin if they were wronged.
The same was here.
No one cared whether Elliot made that scene or not, all they saw was me bashing and breaking every bone in his body painfully.
No one cared what Lincoln did in the test, they only saw that I tortured him and mentally damaged him using fire.
I mean, where has the justice gone?
[…] [Innocent indeed] ‘Exactly what I’m saying.’ “Hello, head butler.
Long time no see.” The head butler was taken aback by my nonchalant and friendly greeting but he held himself back as he returned the greeting, “Long time no see indeed, Your Highness.
I hope you are doing well.” “Go ahead, head butler, say what you want to say,” I said, seeing that he could no longer hold his nervousness in.
“It’s, It’s His Majesty, the emperor, and the crown prince here to see you.
They are currently waiting for you in the living room.” The head butler awkwardly replied.
I guess he was embarrassed by how easily he gave it away.
It wasn’t just him though.
Everyone was acting like they were walking on eggshells and for each crunchy sound, they would have to bear heavy duty for it.
Anyway, I knew I couldn’t dodge this one.
I wasn’t worried at all though.
I was sure I would get through this, after all, what was the most they could do, imprison me?
That wouldn’t hold me back.
I entered the living room to find some prominent figures waiting for me.
The emperor, the crown prince and if I wasn’t wrong, the woman next to him was his second wife, Lincoln’s mother Glentel.
Then there were a few elders of the court, all on the second crown candidate’s side.
Next to the emperor on the other side was the grand elder, Zarden, the emperor’s little brother.
And a few silver knights and all.
In short, nothing to worry about.
I already knew how this was going to pan out.
“My, my, I didn’t know there were so many important figures waiting just to see me.
I’m flattered.” I said as I took my seat without greeting anyone.
Some elders were offended and of course, the crown prince was too but since the emperor didn’t say anything, no one else did as well.
“We had to!
Given your actions.” The emperor spoke, his tone as if he was scolding me but I could pick up hints of amusements underneath.
This old man was having fun.
They both were.
I wonder why the other two weren’t here.
“I did?” I asked, my expression that of surprise, and soon turned to panic as I asked, “What… what have I done to inconvenience you, grandfather?” [Even an idiot can tell you’re acting] “…” There was no reply in return as the old man realized that I was an even bigger actor than him.
“You have assaulted not only Elliot but also Lincoln.
You have done some heavy damage, young prince.” It was Zarden who replied and asked, “What do have to say for yourself?” “Well, I would like to say that it was a very huge misunderstanding.
I’m sure it looks like I was the one to hurt them but I wasn’t.
I had nothing to do with that.
I’m innocent.” I replied, my tone as innocent as I could muster.
Like I was a victim of the situation and frankly I was so maybe it wasn’t all acting.
“Do you deny brutally hitting Elliot?
And do you also deny hurting Lincoln in the test for no reason and then burning him to death?” The crown prince interjected, anger clear in his voice but he still kept it low considering he was in his father’s presence.
“Oh, that?” I asked, as if it had finally struck me, “Yeah I did all that.
Actually, it wasn’t burning him to death.
I set up two arrays.
One would constantly heal him while the other would constantly burn him so he died after about two hours of constant burning.
In the artifact.” I said the last part to convey that he wasn’t really dead.
I wonder why they were all so shocked.
“And yet you still claim to be an innocent?!” The crown prince asked in a loud voice.
“And when did I ever say I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT?!!!” I could also raise my voice and I made sure to show it to him, incurring myself another bout of dumbstruck surprise from everyone in the room.
“How… How could you speak to your father like that?” Glentel, a weird name, spoke.
Questioning me on my behavior but who was she kidding?
“Father?
Really?
Do I look anything like him?
I mean come on, look at me.
I’m at least ten times more handsome.” I calmly relayed my point.
I mean I was much more handsome than anyone in this room after all.
My words, however, brought nothing but silence to the entire room.
I knew what this silence was about and I was sure to rub it… I mean address it.
“What?
You didn’t think I wouldn’t know, right?
Even an idiot can tell.” I turned to the emperor and continued, “I mean, it’s obvious why you’re still on the throne when your father retired at sixty, handing over the throne to you.” Another bout of silence as everyone just sat there in silence, not being able to refute my words.
But I wasn’t going to stop here.
I needed them to know who they were trying to mess with.
“That’s because the throne has to be handed over.
You have already handed it over to the real crown prince, who has in turn handed it over to another child.” I said while I pointed my finger at me.
I turned to the crown prince and said, “Your title of crown prince is nothing more than a joke.
You’re not even a replacement.
That’s how disappointing you are.” He was about to erupt when Zarden said, “Remain seated and do not utter a single word.” The crown prince swallowed back his words.
I stood up without a care as I got ready to leave but not before saying a few parting words, “I’m the real crown prince.
It would be good if you hammer it into your empty head.” I turned and was almost about to leave when I remembered something else.
The issue this farce was all about in the first place, “Oh and, try anything against me again, I will in turn target your children.
I promise you, what I would do to them, would make the devil cry.
What happened to Lincoln, was simply a warm-up.” Without waiting for the response, I left the room and headed to mine.
I had work to do.
