The Archangel of Death - Chapter 120
120: Max’s breakthrough 120: Max’s breakthrough Chapter 120 It’s not that big of a problem but from the looks of it, I could have also chosen this skill at level 300 mark.
I needed something I could use right away and this skill wasn’t that.
But it was my own made choice so there was no use lamenting it.
Instead, I should be worried about the next part.
The penalty part.
[You will no longer gain Exp from killing C rank enemies] [A change in the EXP requirement would be made due to the excessive life force of the enemies] [EXP 0100] [Name: Adrian Von Deus Lux LV: 200 [EXP 0100] Age: 16 Race: Human HP: 20402040 MP: 25102510 STR: 314 AGI: 314 END: 399 PER: 313 INT: 554 CHR: 384 LUCK: 264 AP: 100] I couldn’t even begin to explain how satisfying it was to watch the never-ending zeros be replaced by just two.
Of course, I will still have to kill ten B- to level up just once and one B rank to level up.
I had a lot of those guys at my disposal so I was sure I would be getting to level 210 or even 215 by tomorrow.
As for the undead, I will deal with them after a few more preparations.
The problem I was currently facing was to decide where to put the extra points.
I needed to get on with the third step of the Penta enhancement array.
For that, I needed a body that could endure.
But if I wanted to kill the undeads, I needed a body that could dodge their attacks, meaning I needed agility.
In the end, I decided to go with the END.
I could deal with the undeads with items but no item could help me endure that hellish pain from the Penta enhancement array.
Not to mention, the third step is the most painful one of all the five steps.
[END 499] Half of that would be about 249 which was about B rank so at least my stamina and defense were great enough to not almost die in one hit.
I decided to forget about everything and called for Max standing outside.
“Take them away.
Prepare another room for me.” For some reason, I didn’t like this room.
Something about it just turned me off, not in that way but still, I couldn’t help but feel unease in this room.
As if a creeping feeling like something is crawling on my back.
Another room was prepared and after a good bath, I was ready to sleep when there was a knock on my door.
“Come in.” I permitted the person and saw Rose, in a different outfit than her usual knight-like armor, a long blue dress that didn’t go well with her pink hair suggesting Rose’s fashion choice was very bad.
[It’s not like you are looking at the dress] ‘Have you not seen the blush on that face?’ Seriously, if I wasn’t underage yet and the same for Rose, I would be leaping in the air to attack and devour her right now.
I mean, according to this era, she was of the marriage age but that was only for commoners.
Rose was still very young.
Anyway, ‘A Shy Rose’ is my favorite from now on.
“Ahem… You need something, Rose?” I asked, acting innocent and ignoring Allison’s remark about me being shameless.
“I… I came for that… reward.” Rose replied in a tiny mosquito-like voice that even I, with my enhanced hearing, couldn’t properly hear.
I could get the gist of it but I wanted her to come out and say it.
Out loud.
“What?
I didn’t get that?” I acted oblivious once again, leaning closer which I knew was bad for her heart considering I could feel her heart drumming even from here.
“Re…ward…” She mumbled in an even tinier voice than before.
I couldn’t help but smile, wanting to tease her more.
I couldn’t help but smirk.
I wanted to tease her more but there was a problem I was myself facing.
[Your heartbeat is rising] This damn puberty going body.
Even I was feeling something stir throughout my entire body even though it wouldn’t have normally done anything.
[Wouldn’t it be funnier?] [Death by heart attack] ‘Only you could find something so terrifying, fun.’ Needless to say, this ‘Shy Rose’ was very bad for my heart.
I needed to calm down.
“Of course.” I said as I backed away a bit and continued, “I promised you a reward for a good job and you did an amazing job.” I patted the place next to me on the bed and said, “We can’t do much but at least let’s sleep together.” Nothing dirty in mind.
Just some sweet cuddling.
I’m not much into cuddling but it was still the best I could do for Rose.
Rose happily took the place next to me, disregarding her dress which wouldn’t be a good idea for sleeping so I bought a nightie from the system shop and changed her attire by touching her shoulder.
She was surprised but didn’t say anything but blush.
And just like that, we went to sleep.
===== I hereby change my verdict about cuddling.
Nothing beats a soft and cushiony pillow when sleeping and I had two of them last night.
I’m becoming a bit of a pervert, aren’t I?
[You just realized] ‘I kinda did.’ I replied to Allison as I dodged the attack from a B- rank bandit.
[Sacred blessing] [Magic canon] I felt the empowerment from the sacred blessing and shot about fifty Magic canons at the bandit.
The rain of magic canon damaged him quite a bit and the rest was taken care of by my dagger.
His head rolled on the ground as I said, “Next.” I still had about fifty bandits left at B- rank so it was easy for me to level up by two after I killed all of them.
[You have killed a B- rank enemy] [You have obtained 510 EXP] [You have obtained 51,000,000 coins] [You have leveled up x2] Ahh… the sweet sensation of multiple level-ups that I hadn’t felt for quite some time now.
And that wasn’t all.
[Your party member Rose is now level 235] [Your party member Maximilian Specter is now level 198] I decided to stop here for today because of two reasons.
One, I wanted the bandits to feel despair the longer they were left alive.
I wanted them to constantly think that today might as well be their last day.
Not only would it help me in the battle, but it would be a good punishment for them as well who did nothing in their lives but r*ped, murdered, and pillaged.
And for the second reason, there were still a lot of bandits to kill outside.
The lower-ranked ones.
Now I benefited not even a bit by killing them.
well, aside from the coin gain but, as for EXP, I gained nothing.
But the same couldn’t be said for Max and Rose who had no limits.
I wanted Max to kill all of them.
for one, it would help me see Max’s progress.
He wasn’t much bothered by all the killing I had done today and yesterday but I wanted to see how he would do himself.
Would he feel dishonorable or would he have finally matured?
As for the second, I wanted to level up Max to the peak of the C rank so he could enter the B rank.
Depending on his talent, his breakthrough might take a long time but it wouldn’t be much of a problem since Max had to stay in Caligulas to watch over its affairs.
Max wasn’t a professional so I will hire professionals for that but Max would be in charge of the city.
Of course, I needed him to be strong at least.
“Max, follow me,” I ordered Max while the silver knights took the bandits back to the underground dungeon.
We arrived at the outer plaza and pointing at the Bandits, I began, “You, you, you….” I separated about six hundred forty bandits from the eleven hundred and something bandits.
These were the bandits who could still be forgiven but the rest couldn’t be forgiven for their crimes.
Once the bandits were separated, I turned to Max and pointed at the five hundred and thirty-nine bandits and said, “Kill them all.” I applied ‘Sacred blessing’ on him as well and his already good stats jumped into the territory of B- rank.
Max was a little stunned at my order but he didn’t say anything about it.
He simply drew his sword and began to walk towards the bandits.
“Kill my knight, and I will let all of you go.” I gave the knights something to fight for as well.
The strongest among those bandits was at C+ rank and that was only one.
Most of the bandits were E.
A little over a hundred were D while only three bandits were C rank with only one at C+.
A massacre was about to come and I made sure that the bandits that I had spared, watched with open eyes because if they thought of trying anything, they would be next.
Max jumped at the unprepared bandits not caring that it was not honorable for a knight to do that.
His first sword swing killed about ten bandits at once and there was more to come.
He kept swinging, slashing, and piercing with his sword and bandits kept dying.
The C ranks were challenging but even they fell after a few strikes.
It was inevitable to come out unscathed from this number but they were flesh wounds that only took about five percent of his HP.
At the end of the massacre, most of the blood on Max wasn’t his.
Max was completely covered in blood as he made his way to me and knelt with his sword stabbed into the ground.
He was a little breathless after half an hour of hard work but he still said, “I have carried out your order, my liege.” I smirked as I noticed the flux of coins that reached about a hundred thousand but the happiest news was this.
[Your party member Maximilian Specter is now level 200] The breakthrough of Max never came up.
His power had naturally increased to the next level.
Whatever was holding him back, it was gone.
I couldn’t help but laugh, I laughed.
I laughed as everyone around me saw but didn’t say anything.
The silver knights had a smile on their faces even though they were subtle and as for the Hayez knights, they were finally witnessing the craziness of the Lux imperial family.
[Shield of Aegis (Copy)] [Rank A+] [Description: The cloak of Aegis, the divine artifact that is rumored to have not only a physical shield but also imbued with the divine powers of Zeus himself.
The imitation has lower effects than the true shield but it would still be better than most of the shields available in the world.
Effect(s): A constant shield against physical attacks.
The shield doesn’t consume any mana.
The shield might not be impervious against attacks from higher-level opponents than the wearer.
The defense depends upon the END of the wearer.
Allows the user to use the skill “Divine shield”.
> Divine shield: The wearer becomes impervious to dark-attributed attacks.
It would include mental magic as well.
Divine shield only activates when the wearer is attacked by dark-attributed attacks.
The activation is automatic.
< Cost: 60,000,000] My coin revenue was empty again but it was necessary to give Max a gift for his loyalty as well.
I pulled out the silver robe from my inventory and wrapped it around the still-kneeling Max before me.
"A gift for your advancement to the B rank, Max.
Use it well." I said as I allowed Max to stand up.
"It is a great owner, my liege," Max replied.
I guess my title had now changed forever for Max.
It was good.
I smiled and turned to the still-alive and terrified to the core bandits that I had spared.
"This is how those who sin are treated here.
This could very well be you." The bandits became even more terrified as I turned to Max and said, "Take them and begin repairs around the city.
Work them down to the bone but feed them even lesser than animals." Max nodded and left with the bandits.
I headed toward the room Sophien was staying at.
I had asked her to compile reports.
It was time to begin making changes around the city and that would begin with repairs.
I even had the workforce to do it now.
