The Archangel of Death - Chapter 116
116: Caligulas Dungeon 116: Caligulas Dungeon Chapter 116 “Your Highness, the teleportation circle is ready and the guests from the Vermillion family are also ready to depart.” The head butler informed me while me and Laura were enjoying tea.
Laura had decided to go home instead of coming with me.
Alicia also went home so the only person to come with me was Rose.
Oh, and Max would also be coming but he will directly go to the Caligulas city.
“Keep an eye out for that Sophien, Rose.
I saw her staring at Adrian when she arrived today.” Laura spoke while addressing Rose.
I wouldn’t deny such claims since I had also seen Sophien staring at me and for the first time, there wasn’t disgust or annoyance in her eyes.
‘How is it my fault though?’ I complained inwardly as Laura warned me for the umpteenth time.
[Be nice to a troubled girl] [What else did you expect?] ‘Not feeling of love to take place.
I was just being nice.
No ulterior motive.’ [Good luck explaining that to them] Like that would do anything.
Even Alicia was giving me a stink eye before she left.
If even Alicia’s reaction was like that, I could only imagine Laura’s to be extreme.
Anyway, “Don’t slack off on your training.
You can now do integration on your own but don’t do it without me.
Understood?” I sternly instructed Laura.
Integration of elements was a dangerous process and Laura wasn’t talented like Rose.
If anything unforeseen happened, I would be usually there to solve the matter but if I was not there and the element pierced her organs without proper integration, especially a dangerous element like the element of darkness, then only a death full of pain was the possible outcome.
“I got it.
But you shouldn’t overwork yourself either.
You don’t look so good.” Laura worriedly said as she kissed me slightly.
I didn’t want to make Rose jealous so I didn’t do much in return.
Finally, it was time to leave for my new territory.
===== Me, Rose, and Sophien party teleported in the teleportation room of the castle of the Caligulas city.
We were greeted by a few servants sent by the Vermillion family a few days before to make the castle look presentable.
But even these elite servants could only make the castle look somewhat not decrepit.
The castle was in a very bad condition.
Too bad if I have to say.
It was like an ancient castle that wasn’t maintained for centuries with cracks in the walls and the ceilings.
The outer layer of stone was off in some places as well.
I didn’t admire the castle for too long though.
There was something that needed to be done before anything else.
“Do me a favor and compile reports if you can find any.
Also, in three days, call all the citizens to the castle’s plaza.
Rose will stay here to help you.” I asked Sophien.
“Okay.
But what will you be doing?” Sophien asked curiously.
“I am going to deal with the curse situation.” I replied before turning to Rose and leaving instructions for her, “Max will arrive by tomorrow with a few knights from the Hayez family and some silver knights.
Also, there will be a few military personnel sent by the headmaster Sirius.
Take them and solve the bandit problems on the outskirts.
Take everything and leave nothing behind.
Don’t kill them but bring them here.
Give them an option of surrender.
Those who do, bring them here.
Those who don’t, kill them.” I handed her the ring of infinity saying, “Here use this.
This is much bigger than the pouch.
Store everything you get from the bandits in this.” Rose nodded and replied, “Understood, Your Highness.
But will you be all right alone?
Wouldn’t it be better if I came with you?” She was worried since my condition was still not so good but it wasn’t something to worry about.
I still had good stats and I was about to level up to the 200 mark.
My stats would become a lot better than before.
“Don’t worry about me.
Focus on your own task.
You will be the direct commander of this task.
Understood?” I quelled her worries and turned her focus on her own task.
“Yes, Your Highness.” She replied with a straight face.
“Do it right and there will be a tremendous reward for you.” I softly said that turned her cheeks rosy out of embarrassment as she enthusiastically replied, “Yes, Your Highness.” ===== Some sixty miles away from the Caligulas city, there was a ruin of a church.
It wasn’t the branch of the holy church of the Cortum empire but a church of a god.
Don’t know her name.
Don’t care.
What I did care about were the surroundings.
The place seemed dead.
Like literally dead.
The element of death had seeped into everything.
No trees in sight, the land doesn’t look barren but dead given its dark color.
As for the stones of the church, somehow they managed to remain alive but the rest of everything in the area had wilted away.
Nothing could save this place unless the element of death was extracted from this place.
And the origin of that element is this place.
The dungeon of misfortune.
Or that’s how it was nicknamed in the novel.
It was a lair of a lich but no one knew that because not everyone can enter this dungeon.
Only Eric and the apostles could enter this dungeon.
It wasn’t the limit thing like other artifacts or dungeons.
This dungeon simply had a restriction.
What was the restriction, it wasn’t mentioned in the novel so I wouldn’t know.
‘I only hope it isn’t restricted to me as well.’ I thought as I approached the entrance of the church.
The dungeon was exactly placed at the entrance of the church so entering the church meant entering the dungeon.
I felt no resistance upon entering and as soon as I did, I saw myself in a lavish corridor.
It was a castle just as depicted in the novel.
At the end of the corridor that led to the dungeon.
In front of it stood two guards adorned in black armor from head to toe.
They weren’t just undead.
They were soldiers.
These guys were the hardest to beat for the party and when they entered, the only thing waiting for them was hell.
In the end, they had to leave this dungeon and even when Eric became an SS ran, and returned to this dungeon, he couldn’t kill the monsters in there as they wouldn’t just die.
[The smell of death is this strong at the entrance] [I can only imagine how much the Lich at the core has absorbed it] An enormous amount no doubt.
But that wasn’t what I was interested in.
What piqued my interest were Allison’s words.
“What do you mean the smell of death?” I didn’t have the right opportunity to ask her before but it’s like she can sense death on the instinctual level.
That’s only possible if she has dealt with death for a long time like me.
The was another method but that is impossible since my father is death.
There can never be two deaths.
[Get to work] [You don’t have time to waste on things beyond your understanding] She was dodging my question again but it’s not like I could force an answer out of her.
Besides, it’s not like I am dying to know that, and since we would be spending a long time together, I was sure it would come up one way or another someday.
Since that was out of the way, I had to deal with these guys now.
They weren’t moving since I wasn’t moving.
If I had to bet, they wouldn’t attack me unless I go for that door or attack them directly.
Since that was the case, I prepared an explosive attack for both of them.
I extended both of my hands toward both of the undead guards while slowly moving closer to come into the range of the skill and used the skill.
[High heal] Oh yeah!
Undead are weak to life-based skills and currently, high heal has the most light particles since it heals instead of destroying.
The true meaning of light is to heal after all.
The destructive effects are secondary.
[HP 15982000] [HP 13291700] Of course, they wouldn’t die from this.
However, it seemed like attacking with high heal was the best decision since from the looks of it, although they weren’t much hurt, they weren’t moving as fast as a B- rank should.
Still, for me with a speed of a whole rank lower, they were fast enough.
[Celestial guard] I conjured up the shield around and prepared a lot of magic canons.
As soon as they came in contact with the shield that offered not much resistance given my INT stat situation, I shot all of the magic canons at them without a care as long as they hit them somewhere.
I also prepared to deliver high heal again.
I targeted the one with lower health as soon as the storm of magic canons ended.
[You have defeated a B- rank enemy] [You have received a C- dark mana stone] [You have obtained 100,000 coins] [You have obtained 10,000,000 EXP] I didn’t have the time to celebrate my gains as the second one launched itself at me at a fairly good speed.
[Celestial guard] I instinctively raised a shield which once again cracked under the undead’s attack, I shot magic canons precisely at its knee joints.
I didn’t hold back and shot as much as I could.
There was something else I wanted to try instead of killing it.
The undead fell in front of me and but didn’t cease its intention to attack even though its legs were no longer there.
I ignored its attempts and shot at its elbows to get rid of its arms as well.
Seeing as it was just crawling on the floor right now, with its arms and legs moving closer to him to reattach themselves.
This was what defeated Eric and the rest.
While they would busy themselves with the functional undeads, those that they had broken would fix themselves and come at them again.
Anyway, before they could, I placed my hand on the undead and began to absorb the energy of death inside of it.
There was a lot of corrupted energy mixed within the death energy but given that my element was purer, it managed to absorb the death inside that rotten energy while the rest was expelled into nothingness.
The grade of the undead began to drop until it got to the point that it became an F- rank.
A simple magic bullet could kill it right now which I used to kill it.
As expected, I received nothing.
Nothing except for the element of death.
The increase wasn’t much but if I absorbed the same amount about a hundred times, I would be able to increase my death strands to two.
[Hence the dilemma] Hence the dilemma.
On one side, I needed to fix this level problem of mine.
The monsters in this dungeon wouldn’t regenerate unless the living die in here so if I kill the monsters here, there won’t be a second chance like in the slime dungeon.
As for the death element, there was no better chance to increase it than this one.
But on the other hand, I wanted to level up until the two-hundred mark as well.
Given that the Lich was A rank, if I killed it, I would easily level up until at least level 220 but the death element that guy would have was also the strongest so I didn’t plan on killing him for EXP.
As for the rest of the monsters, I didn’t know of the composition of the monsters in here since Eric never made it that far.
Only the rank of the Lich was revealed and even that by the author, my father.
Killing a B- rank gave me ten million Exp which is the tenth of my current EXP.
This means I would need to kill ninety more same-rank undead to level up just once and I doubt there are enough undead in there for me to reach that level.
Hah… Fu*k my life.
