The Archangel of Death - Chapter 115
115: Dealing with a minor problem 115: Dealing with a minor problem Chapter 115 The first thing I needed was money.
That problem was solved.
The second thing I needed was resources to pull this off.
Just having money isn’t enough if you can’t find reliable people.
And finally, I needed something personal.
Hence why I am here.
In the company of a black-haired beauty with a golden armored guardian angel.
Sophien has been staring at me nonstop ever since I came here.
After a brief conversation of hello hi, there was nothing but an awkward silence between us and even more awkward with her staring at me nonstop.
However, who was I?
Would I give in to such a tense situation?
Would I feel embarrassed just because a pretty girl with a killer look staring at me nonstop?
Would I want to see more of that?
Of course, I wouldn’t.
[Of course you would] ‘Of course I would.’ Damn.
Leaving her annoyance aside, Sophien really is a beauty who could kill with that piercing look.
[You know; you can be quite perverted sometimes] ‘That’s the nature of a man.
Be attracted to a beauty.’ [Don’t let your nature get you] [Otherwise, you might begin to drool] ‘I’m already drooling inwardly.’ The reason I was drooling was not solely because of Sophien’s beauty but it was also her state of dressing.
She was wearing a high-slit dress but it wasn’t one piece but two piece.
Which means the bottom part that ended at her abdomen and the top were separate.
It wasn’t just that, her top blouse also exposed her flawless and no-fat stomach, creating an image that even tempted me.
[Now you get why I call you creep?] ‘It’s her fault for dressing like that.’ [It’s her house] [She can dress however she wants] ‘But she isn’t alone but in the presence of a company.’ [Exactly] [This is midlevel era] [Why do you think she is dressed like that in your presence and staring at you with clear dissatisfaction hidden behind those clear eyes] ‘It’s not I haven’t noticed that.’ I doubt it was Sophien’s idea to tempt me like this.
And it certainly wasn’t Cornelius’ because no matter how much business-hungry that guy may be, he wasn’t the type to stoop this low.
That only leaves Sophien’s father and her stepmother.
And given their nature from the novel, it was definitely them forcing her to do this.
[What a terrible father] ‘A disgrace to fathers I would say.’ That’s not how a father should be.
A father is someone who looks after her daughter no matter what.
I have seen and learned that from my own father.
I admire him greatly for that.
That’s one of his many qualities.
Pettiness aside, he is a great father.
Completely unlike Sophien’s father who is a total disgrace.
I sighed, stood up, and walked over to Sophien.
She tensed up along with Rachel preparing her sword.
I didn’t stop and once I was just in front of her, I extended my hand and placed it on her shoulder.
Her clothing changed to the dress of my company while I said, “You don’t have to look at me like it’s my fault you have to do this.” I returned to my seat and sat down.
Sophien was somewhat stunned by my gesture and she hadn’t gotten over it yet.
Still, she wasn’t ungrateful, “Thanks,” She mumbled but it was enough for me to hear.
I didn’t say anything in return because she wasn’t looking for a reply.
She was now more comfortable and although the silence between us remained the same, the awkwardness was gone.
It wasn’t long before the old man Vermilion arrived, the butler wasn’t with him this time but his son was who was quite dissatisfied when he saw that Sophien’s dress wasn’t the one he thought it would be.
What a scumbag.
Anyway, my business was with Cornelius and I didn’t need this guy here.
“You came to discuss business; I presume?” Cornelius didn’t waste time with small talk and got straight to the point.
I nodded and began, “I was informed that the teleportation circle is finished.
I will be going to the Caligulas tomorrow and I wanted you to know so you can arrange whoever you want to monitor me.” “Haha.
You’re quite blunt.” Cornelius laughed at my response.
Still, he got to the point and said, “It would be great to have someone assist you.
Also, I will be able to gather new ideas thanks to you.” Cornelius wasn’t lying or masking his true intentions.
He had seen my power and he won’t be arrogant with me any longer.
“Anyway, I have decided that a few of my trusted people along with Sophien and Rachel would accompany you to the Caligulas city.” Sophien wasn’t dissatisfied by this decision which meant they had already discussed this before.
“I see.
Is there anything else I should be aware of?” I asked.
Cornelius shook his head in response and said, “No.
you will be the master of the Caligulas as we have agreed on and my team won’t interfere unless absolutely necessary.
Also, they would be at your beck and call to help you with city matters.” I nodded and in response, thanked him, “Then you will have my gratitude for that.” “Now, I understand you wished to discuss something with me?” Cornelius asked.
He was referring to the dress business that I had come to discuss but couldn’t because he wasn’t here.
I nodded and told him everything I wanted.
Everything about the business and what help I needed.
We examined the product in detail and greatly covered every aspect that we had to.
“Then, I will see you after a month if I am still here,” Cornelius said as we ended our conversation.
Done here, I left the Vermillion estate and headed straight to the mercenary guild to get a report on everything.
From there, I was assured by Balder that everything was ready and now, all we needed to do was wait for the first blood.
====== I returned to the villa after everything when I found a nervous Rose standing in the doorway along with some knights.
They weren’t silver knights but from another elite knight squad.
[Looks like they made their move] ‘Their move means sh*t.’ I could tell what they were here for.
To take me back and it wasn’t by the order of the emperor or it would have been a silver knight instead of this guy.
“Good evening, Your Highness.” The knight greeted me before getting straight to the purpose, “I have been sent by his highness the Crown Prince, the next emperor of the great Cortum empire, to escort you back to the empire.” Now by the way he addressed the crown prince, it could have also been taken as he was already the emperor.
Shows how loyal he is.
Anyway, it doesn’t matter.
He cannot call me back.
The reason?
The crown prince can’t do jack sh*t about the affairs of the empire.
“I don’t want to.” I simply said, still standing in the doorway.
“We can leave when you are read—- Pardon?” He had a reply ready but just as he processed my answer, his eyes went wide and he questioned.
Without answering him, I turned to Rose and beckoned her to get closer.
She did and I whispered something in her ear.
She nodded and left to do what I had asked her to do.
As for the knight, he finally regained his composure and once again bantered about the crown prince, “Your Highness, I have been authorized by His Highness the crown prince to use force if necessary.” I stood still without a reply before a cackle left my mouth.
My laughter was pure mock and I kept laughing for quite a while before I ended my laughter after a few minutes.
“Authority, you say?
What authority?” I asked.
“Pardon?” He was confused by my question.
“What authority does the crown prince have in the empire?” I simplified my question but he was still confused.
The knights standing behind him were the same, confused by my question.
But after a while, when they began to think seriously, they realized the answer to my question.
“His Highness, the Crown Prince is the next rightful ruler of the Cortum empire.” The head knight hurriedly and fervently replied.
Once again I laughed for a while but my laughter wasn’t funny but full of mockery.
“That means he would have all the authority the emperor would have in the future?
I’m asking what does he have right now?
Is he in charge of the military?
No, the silver commander is.
Is he in charge of the finances?
No, the third prince is.
Is he in charge of intelligence?
No, the head elder is.
Is he in charge of foreign affairs?
No, the first elder is.
Where in all of this, does the crown prince come in?
don’t answer that, let me answer for you.
Nothing!
The Crown Prince has nothing!” The knights stood stunned in front of me, not really sure of what they could do or what they should say.
In the end, all they could do was resort to force.
“Anyway, you are to come with me.” But what I wasn’t expecting them to do was to draw their swords.
That’s extreme.
And they would be executed back at the empire if I decided to pursue this issue and if the emperor agreed with me.
Then, no matter what type of authority the crown prince had, he wouldn’t be able to save them.
“Oh, I didn’t know you had guests.” A voice fell into our ears just as the head knight was about to move.
It seems he was here.
The knights remained in their places as they saw the headmaster of the Bellator Academy and the ruler of the city appear in front of them, closely followed by Rose.
“I can come some other time but if it isn’t urgent, I have some things to discuss with you.” Sirius made his stance clear.
The knight captain hesitated but he still had the name of the crown prince to use.
He spoke, “I greet the headmaster of the Bellator, Sir Sirius de Salazar.
I apologize for my rudeness but the fifth imperial prince has been called back to the empire.” “Oh?
Is that so?
By who?
The emperor?” Sirius acted oblivious as he asked.
“No, by His Highness, the Crown Prince, the future ruler of the great Cortum empire.” This dude wasn’t right in the head.
“Is that so?
I thought it was the emperor.
In which I would have to listen to this summon, but the Crown Prince?
Who is he?
As far as I remember, he isn’t more important than me.
so whatever it is, can wait until tomorrow.” Sirius made his stance even clearer as he walked over to the head knight and said with mana infused in his voice, “Put that sword away.
I feel like it is drawn at me.
Or is it drawn at me?” It was safe to say that the knight was properly scared now.
Sirius turned to me and said, “If you aren’t busy, then let’s have a chat.” I smirked and replied, “Sure.” We both entered the villa and I saw Lincoln standing with a few knights.
Without fear, I went closer to him and when he saw me, he stepped back out of fear.
The knights blocked my way but I didn’t pursue him.
I simply said in a loud enough voice that everyone could hear, “Good to see you, brother.
You seem tired.
Sleep well.
Oh and don’t leave the fireplace on.
I heard closed spaces can get on fire and sometimes, people burn.” Even an idiot could tell that it was a pure blatant threat.
Still, no one could do anything.
Lincoln was scared out of his wits and his complexion went bad by the minute as he remembered burning by fire.
Soon enough, he began to scream while I began to laugh and left with Sirius to the living room.
