The Archangel of Death - Chapter 103
103: Overlord 103: Overlord Chapter 103 Alicia wasn’t the only one close to me so almost everyone heard my plan.
Or at least those who mattered did.
Zefton would be in charge of the tanks, Layla would be in charge of the mages, and me and Alicia would be simply providing buff support.
As for the damage dealers and the archers, Layla and Zefton appointed a boy and a girl I wasn’t familiar with.
The girl was someone who had passed before my eyes before.
The girl who transferred to our class after the first test.
Sarah Georgette.
I had no idea who she was.
Throughout the entire novel, she wasn’t mentioned even once so obviously she was a no-name character but….
[But?] But there is something about her… Something I can’t quite put a finger on.
[Something mysterious?] ‘Mysteriously dangerous, I will tell you that much.’ [An enemy?] ‘A potential enemy.’ No one’s an enemy unless they cross my path or do something against my morals to my knowledge.
If she is an enemy of the main cast, I don’t have anything to do with her unless it involves any of my people somehow.
Anyway, me and Alicia moved to the backline when I unleashed a skill never seen before by these kids.
[Sacred blessing LV: 5] At level five, ‘Sacred Blessing’ increased the stats of a person by forty percent and unlike bless, the limit of sacred blessing is a lot longer.
A whopping fifteen minutes.
As soon as everyone felt the effects, they all turned to us, even Alicia which meant that all the eyes then turned to me, and I, like an inflated goat made sure to pose.
“Feel free to praise me.” I made sure to convey my intentions in words so they don’t mistake me as a humble person.
If you’re good at something, flaunt it like you mean it.
[So you’re good at bragging?] ‘Excellent at bragging.’ The students didn’t know how to reply to that so they just simply turned their attention back forwards.
“Wahh… Would it hurt you to say something about my amazing powers?” I made sure to complain.
I was seriously hurt.
“The buff would last fifteen minutes; we will meet up with a lot of obstacles.
A lord is never alone.” Letting go of the previous issue, I made sure to warn these guys because we were now deep enough for ice kumas to start showing up.
The rest of the party got serious as well and prepared themselves to the best as they could.
Soon enough, a group of kumas appeared in our view.
It was smaller than the one that I faced so it should be easier for this group to handle them all.
As expected, a few stars of the show appeared in this match.
Zefton singlehandedly took down a bear and drove his gauntlet-covered fists right through its heart.
Even I can’t do that yet.
As for Layla, she froze three kumas entirely at the same time who were then destroyed by the mages collectively.
The rest of the tanks held three of the bears back while the archer party which only consisted of two, shot piercing arrows in the eyes of each of the kumas.
Even Lincoln and his group of three easily managed to kill two of the wounded bears.
The last one, I let Alicia take care of that to see the effectiveness of our training.
And she didn’t disappoint.
She deflected attacks of a bear almost three times her size effortlessly and attacked its soft spots.
I instructed her to mostly focus on kneecaps and she remained obedient and brought the Kuma to its knees after a few minutes.
It wasn’t long before she unleashed a flurry of punches on its face and eventually killed it with her spikey gauntlet.
With the last Kuma dead, I stored all of their bodies inside my inventory.
We resumed our journey and once the ‘Sacred blessing’ ended, I used the skill again.
Using it on this many students took a massive chunk of my MP but what were the MP recovery potions for?
Our hunt was very easy with my buff and eventually, we ended up at the lair of the lord.
Fortunately, we didn’t have to enter ourselves but it came out on its own.
Roar!!!!
A loud roar shook our surroundings and everyone, especially mages had to cover their ears pretty hard because even if mana wasn’t protecting them, the shockwave infused with mana was too much for these fledglings right now.
A massive nine-foot-tall bear known as Ice Kuma overlord slowly moved towards us, taking one step at a time.
It was an intelligent creature indeed.
It was intimidating us quite well from the start by the looks of it.
Each step of it would discharge small amounts of mana which would have quite an impact on the students.
Of course, those with strong mana could withstand it and as for me, well, I had none in the first place for I felt nothing.
Now the monster in front of us was of C+ rank.
A boss-level monster.
To kill it, a party of at least 10 C+ ranks or a party with at least one B rank is needed.
To take care of it with just us, a party that consists of mostly C ranks with only a few C+ ranks, would be difficult no doubt.
[Impossible?] ‘Hell no.’ [Sacred blessing] I used the skill ‘Sacred Blessing’ and the usual empowerment everyone felt was felt again.
This also helped them fortify their mana which lessened the impact of mana shockwaves released by the Kuma Lord.
Alicia also chanted her own skill that empowered everyone.
Of course not an empowerment like me but Alicia’s buff lasted for a longer time.
[You have been blessed by the Holy Saint] [The power is resonating inside of you] [An incredible effect has taken place] [All stats +10%] [MP recovery rate +50%] [HP recovery rate +100%] Now that was a surprise.
I have never been buffed by Alicia before so I didn’t know her buff could have a different impact on me.
Maybe it was because I had the element of life.
Hmm?
Wait a minute.
40% of sacred blessing plus 10% of Alicia’s blessing, equals a 50% increase.
[STR: 243(+121)] [AGI: 243(+121)] [END: 328(+164)] [INT: 403(+201)] The hell?
My INT has stepped into the realm of S rank easily.
And my physical stats are also at the A rank at least so why can’t I unleash that power?
[Artifact] Of course, there is always something logical.
The artifact is limiting my strength.
The most this artifact will allow is a strength of B+ rank.
No one higher than that can enter this artifact so although I can enter because my actual rank is low, it seems that as far as the loophole lasts.
My stats would still be limited.
But it’s okay.
Worry not.
Even then, my stats are very high to take care of this kuma myself.
Actually, I should have done this the first time when I fought those Kumas.
Killing them would have been a lot more easier.
I didn’t even use my own blessing at that time.
[You’re only getting it now?] ‘Whatever.’ “The plan remains the same.
Heavy fighters, at the front.
Block it to the best of your abilities.
It shouldn’t be too hard with all the buffs.
Archers aim for the eyes.
Don’t be stingy on mana.
Be careful and don’t hit one of our own.
Mages, distract it to the best of your abilities, and damage dealers, aim for the soft spots.
No one tries to be a hero.” I relayed the instructions and said the last part.
The last part was because right now, these guys were experiencing a massive boost.
They must be thinking that they are invincible right now.
Wrong.
That monster is a boss-rank monster so for sure, it has a few skills up its furry sleeves as well.
Those skills could very well be deadly for all we know.
Also, I didn’t want them to kill this guy because there was something I wanted to try on my own.
The first strike was delivered by the boss that was effortlessly blocked by Zefton from the looks of it.
He blocked both heavy arms of the Kuma without being crushed underneath its weight was marvelous.
Seeking the opportunity, the archers fired but the boss was faster than the rest of the kumas so the archers’ miscalculation missed the shots.
Zefton didn’t follow up but remained on defense.
That was good.
At least he was following orders.
The boss tried to create distance but that would prove detrimental for us.
It could use a wide-area attack skill.
“Mages, limit its movements,” I ordered and it was swiftly carried out.
Long-range mages shot behind the Kuma to stop it from retreating.
It wasn’t very effective because of its magic resistance but it still steered its retreat in a favorable direction.
This gave the archers a chance and even without my instruction, they opened fire at the boss.
Of course, with the constant moving of the boss, they missed their mark but still landed a hit on its chest.
My earlier instruction was not to be stingy with mana so the arrow pierced quite a bit in the boss’s chest if its painful roar was any indication.
“Zefton!” I shouted and without any further instruction, Zefton moved in and landed a hit on the boss’s knee.
“Move away now.” I once again shouted and without a follow-up, Zefton moved away and a rain of spells fell on the Kuma.
‘It should be enough, right?’ I wondered as I turned my head to the sky, wondering if the magic canon worth 1000 MP was enough or not.
[Only one way to find out] Yep.
“Stop!!” My shout stopped all the attacks.
They were confused because even though we had delivered quite a bit of damage, the boss wasn’t that much damaged given its physical characteristics.
‘Drop.’ I waved my hand and the giant magic canon fell on the boss slower than usual Magic Canon.
And that was a mistake.
Boom!!!
“Kyaa!!!” “Kgh!!!” Even I was blown away.
It wasn’t a very big explosion.
It only covered a radius of about two meters.
But the impact and shockwave of the explosion were enough to blow us all away.
[Really shouldn’t have done that] ‘Yeah, shouldn’t have.
Anyway, thanks.’ [No problem] I’m not one to take risks so I asked Allison to use ‘Celestial Guard’ on everyone if something untoward happened.
Unfortunately, it did and fortunately, everyone was safe.
My MP reached zero though even with the recovery boost.
[MP potion has been consumed] [MP has fully recovered] Nothing really happened and no one was seriously injured.
I checked on Alicia to see if she was startled or not but she was fine and so was everyone else.
There were some scowls but I couldn’t care less.
I proceeded to check the landscape to examine whether it was a safe move or not.
[Would it be safe to say that it’s experimental?] ‘It would be correct to say that.’ It would be because there was nothing left of the boss.
In fact, there was nothing left at all.
There was a hole of about seven meters deep and in radius, it was about two meters so it means that the explosion was contained in terms of radius but in terms of depth, it was quite strong.
But is it a condition?
What if I want to make it wider not deeper?
[…] [You did not say that] ‘I now realize my mistake, yes.’ Putting that part aside, the impact and damage were unquestionable but there is something else that I want to try.
Unfortunately, there is nothing I can try it on right now so I will have to test with it slowly.
I pulled out the crystal and saw a 22 instead of a 20 which meant we successfully killed the overlord.
“Everyone, check your crystals,” I said while everyone was also staring at the mess that I had made.
“I have received two points.” Layla responded to which I nodded and instructed, “Gather everyone around, we need to leave now.
We have to prepare for the next attack.” We started heading back to the camp.
On the way back to the camp, there were whispers of what I had done.
There was shock and surprise and many more different reactions but collectively, there was one more thing.
Wariness.
Born out of fear.
They were all wary of my power now.
