Chapter 455: Chapter 455- Stark
“All powerful knights are gone. It’s the same for the other orders too…”

Before she could finish, the boy had already rushed inside the coliseum.

Huff… Huff… And the sight he saw inside was no different than what he saw on his way here.

All the people inside were asleep. The high ranking knights were all gone. The only ones inside were squires, those who were below level 5.

“What do we do now?”

Once outside, he questioned with solemn eyes. Their commander was gone, and so were all the high ranking knights.

“We can’t give up. Every second that we stay here, the tower siphons our strength. The people might not be in danger right now. However, once their strength completely depletes, who knows what might happen.”

Gwen spoke her concern. Before the tower consumed them, they needed to find a solution out of here.

“Right, we cannot wait for the High Ranking Knights to return. We need to solve this crisis ourselves. I’m sure that’s what our commander meant when he said to protect the citizens.”

Rolan nodded. Then he quickly came up with a plan. “We need to search this place. There has to be something, anything that leads to the unusualness of this place.”

As they lacked information about the labyrinth created by the Abyssal Compass, other than the basic information Sir Conrad told them, they had to go around looking for clues.

“Hmm, it’s just us four. It will take forever. Since speed is the essence here, we need to get the other members of the knight order involved too. For this mission, we need to work together.”

“We’ll do as big sister Delicia says.”

And so, the four squires dispersed, getting the other orders to also work with them.

.

“It’s like this. I want all of you to search for something unusual in this place.” Kevin requested the aid of a group of squires he spotted on the way.

“Search for something unusual is a pretty vague request. In the first place, why do we have to obey a peasant like you?”

For better or worse, the group of squires he stumbled upon were all sons of aristocrats who belonged to some knight order maintained by a capital noble.

“It’s not like that. In this place, the only ones who are awake are those above level 3. Ordinary citizens who are below level 2 have all fallen asleep. We need to work together to save them before the tower takes away all of our strength.”

He tried to reason; however, it seemed that maintaining the status quo was more important to them.

“I don’t like your attitude. Who the hell do you think you are to order us?”

“Are you telling us we are not protecting the citizens? Heh, a peasant acting all high and mighty just because he got into a knight order? Let’s show him his place.”

How did things come to this? Kevin looked at the group, who were all raring to fight him. Just when it looked like a fight was inevitable, a voice interjected.

“Heh, this is interesting. You all want to fight a level 5 Squire from the Temple of Light? You guys at least got some guts. I’ll give you that.”

To speak to them, who were sons of nobles, so carefreely, who was this rude guy?

The snobbish group turned their heads toward the direction of the voice, only to open them wide the next second.

There, sitting by the edge of the roof with a grin on his face, was a squire. Given his looks which made others envious of him, the young man was already quite conspicuous.

However, that was not the reason why the group of entitled squires was shocked. It was because the person who just intervened in their fight was a very famous person. A name that had made quite a few waves in the recent days, add that with the burning flame like armor he was wearing, it was practically obvious who this person was without even looking at the motif on his armor.

“You are… Stark?”

That’s right, the person was none other than the star candidate from the Magic Entrance Exam one year ago, the guy who joined the strongest knight order.

“Hoh, you guys know me? Well, that saves me the trouble. I’ll say it to your faces. Stop trying to fight that guy; he is beyond your league.”

Stark pointed at Kevin, who looked equally surprised after seeing the former.

The eyes of the snobbish nobles twitched. In what way was this plain looking guy stronger than them?

However, when they heard that he was from the Temple of Light and remembered the scenes they saw on the live broadcast, they couldn’t help but get cold feet.

Stark jumped down and approached Kevin. “We meet again.”

“Yeah.” The boy nodded his head in greeting. “I’m surprised that you know me?”

“Haha, how can I forget the guy who got the invite from the Temple of Light? Your performance back then in the Magic Knight Entrance Exam was quite an eye-opener.”

As if that was true. He had no mana and could only rely on his physical stats and the sword training he did with his master in his early years. That said, Kevin could tell that Stark wasn’t making fun of him.

“About what you said earlier, can you explain? As you can see, we who were in the capital are all clueless as to what is going on.”

From their perspective, the sky of the capital suddenly turned dark, walls appeared on the boundaries, people started falling asleep one after another, and all the High Ranking Knights disappeared. Anybody would be confused in their place.

“It’s like this…” Kevin explained everything that he knew about the tower and about the situation they were facing.

“So all this is happening because of the awakening of the Abyssal Compass, huh. I see, I get it now. We need to find whatever is causing this phenomenon and stop it before it affects the ordinary populace.”
