Chapter 452: Chapter 452- White World
No one knew what was going on, but even an idiot could tell that it stemmed from that tower. It was the root of all disturbance.
The commanders were just about to relay their orders to their subordinates when Conrad stopped them.
“What’s wrong, Sir Conrad?”
The commander of the Knights of the Enduring Spirit did not speak and continued to stare at the tower in a daze. Finally, a grave expression crossed his face, and he couldn’t help but sigh in desolation.
“That spire of corruption evoked some bad and nostalgic memories. I couldn’t recognise it at a glance as the events transpired more than thirty five years ago. I wanted to deny it; however, no matter how I look, there is simply no denying the truth.”
Conrad pointed with his sword cane at the tower.
“That thing right there is no simple tower but the labyrinth formed by one of the Seven Ultimate Demonic Treasures, the Abyssal Compass.”
“What?!!”
All the commanders looked shocked. The same was for the knight orders. Ultimate Demonic Treasures were said to be incredibly powerful demonic treasures, rivalling the Supreme Divine Treasures. Their conception was a complete mystery, and to date, there are still many in the top rankings of the Ultimate Demonic Treasure that are yet to be identified.
As shocking as the news was, no one here questioned Conrad; after all, they all knew that the latter wouldn’t joke at a time like this. What’s more, given the other party’s knowledge, and when it came to the Abyssal Compass, there was no one more knowledgeable here than him, since he was one of the knights who fought the Heavenly King who used the Abyssal Compass long ago.
“It is said that the Abyssal Compass has the power to trap others inside an endless labyrinth where they would be slowly drained of their strength, stamina, and willpower, eventually becoming mindless demonic husks,” Vanessa iterated what she knew about the demonic treasure, her expression perplexed.
“However, the ancient records did not mention anything about it being able to create a tower and cause an eclipse.”
“You are right, but not completely. The ancient records we humans have are as incomplete as our knowledge. Certain things and knowledge that our ancestors didn’t know or were not able to pass down are naturally not recorded.”
“That thing is no doubt the true form of the labyrinth of the Abyssal Compass. The reason why it hadn’t appeared is because up until now, the treasure was never activated fully,” Conrad sighed, his breath heavy.
“The Heavenly King that I and my order fought at that time said this after being heavily injured by our commander and forced to retreat: If only I could unleash the true powers of the Abyssal Compass and spawn the Tower of Babel, then killing all of you would have been easy. You would have all known the true despair of the eclipse. If only the treasure had recognised me as its true master.”
After those words, none of the commanders was able to speak for a long time. It was not because they were speechless or afraid, but because a realisation was slowly creeping into them after they heard Conrad’s words. They all believed his words without a shred of doubt.
The tower, the eclipse… everything that the Heavenly King said was proving true right now. However, in that story of his, there was one line that weighed heavily on their minds.
If even the Heavenly King was unable to unleash the true powers of the Ultimate Demonic Treasure because he was not recognised by it, then what did the current situation in front of them mean?
The tower had spawned, and so did the eclipse. Even if they didn’t want to think about it, the answer was crystal clear. The Abyssal Compass had recognised a master!
The revelation was spine chilling.
“But how could that be? We sealed the Abyssal Compass back then. No one should be able to reach the demonic treasure,” Marquis Herman spoke.
It wasn’t long ago that his Royal Lion Guard, the Knights of the Lunar Veil, and the Temple of Light answered the call of the crown and addressed the situation in the underground vault. The proliferation of demonic energy was stopped, and the Abyssal Compass was sealed. He had witnessed this with his own eyes.
What’s more…
“The seal is powerful enough to even stop an Extreme Knight from breaking it easily.”
“There is no point in thinking what could and couldn’t have happened; the fact is that the Abyssal Compass has awakened and has recognised a master. We need to address the situation as soon as possible,” Vanessa interjected.
And so, the six commanders passed down their commands to their knight orders. As for the Temple of Light, they moved as per the instructions their commander left them.
.
.
At the same time as the Six Commanders made their move, Reinhardt too, who was sucked in by the crystal and teleported away, began taking his actions.
The world around him dissolved in blinding light, then silence. Before he knew it, Reinhardt found himself standing in a vast expanse of white. Above him was an ash grey sky billowing with endless snow, and below was nothing but snow too.
There was no horizon, no landmark, nothing. Just an infinite whiteness swallowing everything.
WHOOO… The wind howled like a beast, so cold that it could cut through armor, skin, and bone alike.
And Reinhardt found himself here half naked. He exhaled once, watching his breath freeze midair and fall as tiny shards of ice.
“Haha, so this is where they sent me, huh?”
The crystal that sent him here was already gone, shattered into numerous fragments and frozen in ice. His retreat was cut off.
WHOOO… The snow hissed as if mocking him.
Endless snow, no retreat and a hostile environment; if there was anyone else in Reinhardt’s place they would no doubt panic a little. However, there was no trace of anxiousness to be found in the face of this half naked man.
