Chapter 450: Chapter 450- Awakened Abyssal Compass
Creation after destruction. In the blink of an eye, the land was back to its verdant self. Of course, the place was no longer a valley but rather a flatland.
.
.
Inside the underground vault of the royal palace, which had recently experienced a surge of demonic energy and a chaotic battle where three knight orders and their Commanders fought to seal all the demonic items and the Demonified Knights that proliferated the place, a faint light seeped through the cracks of its door.
The vault that should have been sealed by command from the Queen was pushed open once again. A single figure carrying a torch entered through the gap.
As they had a robe donned, it was impossible to tell their appearance. Nevertheless, from the faint way they walked, and more importantly, the beguiling curves that even the robes couldn’t hide, gave away her identity as a woman.
The figure slowly made her way around the chamber. Strangely, she did not trigger any mechanism or traps. Nor did the alarm sound out. Marks and craters from the fierce battle that had gone off here could still be felt just from looking at them.
The figure did not stop; it slowly moved past all the demonic items that were resealed again by the knights, walking straight toward the center of the chamber. Their destination was clear. Abyssal Compass, which stood at the very heart of the vault.
Ranked Seventh in the list of the Ultimate Demonic Treasures, the item was currently sealed within a cradle of divine vines, glowing softly with life. The vines pulsed with radiant energy, exuding a scent of fresh bloom.
A remnant of Bloomkeeper’s power, the sacred beast Reinhardt summoned using his [Divine Beast Summon] to bind the Compass. It was this cradle that had been stopping the outbreak of Demonic Energy from spreading again.
The figure stepped toward the dais and extended their hand toward the vine. A creamy white delicate hand that had never touched the mundane came into view.
Just as their hand was about to touch the vine, they hurriedly pulled back.
SILENCE…
Time passed by in silence as the figure continued to stand there without making a move. Finally, after a while, a change occurred.
The atmosphere in the vault plummeted drastically, and an unsettling power descended onto the place. The torch held by the figure changed color; the fire burning on it turned from crimson to dark violet.
Once again, the figure extended their hand which now exuded the strange violet energy, toward the vines.
BAM… The moment her finger touched the cradle, radiant energy burst out in droves in an attempt to repel her back. However, at that moment, the violet energy interfered, stopping the radiant energy.
HISSS…
The two energies clashed in a violent fashion. The vines retaliated, growing brighter in resistance. Light and darkness clashed, spraying sparks of golden and violet energy through the chamber.
For a moment, the radiant power held strong; its brilliance flaring, releasing a wave of warmth that pushed the malevolent energy back. However, in the end, the cradle only had a limited amount of energy. Once that was over, it would be the radiant energy that would lose.
The violet light pulsed, releasing tendrils after tendrils that crawled like veins across the vines, corroding it away slowly. A short while later, the radiant energy finally started to flicker. Once… twice, and then it was gone.
The vines created by the Bloomkeeper visibly withered; their glow faded before turning ashen gray. Little by little, the cradle began to crumble away, releasing faint motes of holy dust that dissolved into the darkness.
And once it was completely gone, the Abyssal Compass finally came into view.
The Ultimate Demonic Treasure was released.
HUMM… At that very instant, the underground vault shook intensely; a wave of demonic energy exploded outward. The torches were snuffed out, plunging the room into pitch black darkness.
Within that darkness, the raven black surface of the compass was the only thing visible. Slowly, the figure walked toward the compass and touched it with their hands.
Normally, if any ordinary human so much as touched such a powerful demonic item, they would instantly be demonified; the body ballooning before blowing away into smithereens.
However, surprisingly, the figure was completely fine; there were no changes to her exterior. If one had to point out any peculiarity, it would be the compass. The item was at this moment pulsing with a demonic light, like a heartbeat.
However, that would not ever scratch the surface of the surprising; no, utterly baffling event that occurred next. The dials of the compass slowly started to move, and the eye that was in the middle of the treasure slowly opened.
A scene that did not occur even when the underground vault was taken over by Demonified Knights.
So why did it occur now? The moving of the compass and the eye opening meant only one thing. The Ultimate Demonic Treasure, ranked seventh on the list, had recognized a master.
.
.
Around the same time, the Seven Commanders who had stopped fighting regrouped with the members of their orders. The scene was extremely funny since all the knights were limping; their armors were dented, their capes burned, and their appearance was a mess.
A sign that they got caught up in the storm of their fight.
“Commander Brutus! You flattened half of the eastern ridge of the valley! Our camp was there!” A knight from the Order of the Blazing Sun complained.
“What? You should’ve moved faster! I gave plenty of warning before I turned the place into a fiery pit!”
“You yelled, ‘I’m going!’ and then the sky exploded!”
“See? That’s a warning!”
The members looked exasperated. It was not only Brutus; the other commanders, while expert in fighting, were peculiar in their own aspect.
“Commander, if you were going to bring us to such a hellish place, you should have at least allowed us to eat something good first. We have been going on by eating roasted bark for the past month.”
