Chapter 448: Chapter 448- Close Combat
Conrad did not explain further and left.

In the middle of the crater, the Seven Knights stood again; their form looked weary, and their armor dirty from the battle. Nevertheless, there was not even a trace of exhaustion or weakness visible in their eyes.

“Everyone has improved their skills. Hahaha, it was a wonderful experience witnessing all your skills.” Brutus laughed.

Marquis Herman and Zargeus nodded. The ladies and the old man were of the same opinion.

“Thunder Lord, you have become faster.” Conrad praised.

“So did you, old man. Your skills have evolved. I didn’t see you using your lethal poison flowers.”

“Dame Leona, I believe you are one step closer toward the realm of the heroes.” Vanessa smiled.

The Seven Commanders praised each other. And then, as if they were thinking the same thing, they turned toward Reinhardt.

“Speaking of skills, it’s this guy who has improved the most. The last time he used this skill on that demon, I didn’t think it was this powerful.” Brutus muttered, looking at his hand that was still aching after taking on that giant light sword.

“Indeed.” Marquis Herman, who similarly clashed against the [Lightforge Ascension], spoke one word. However, his one word spoke volumes.

Vanessa did not speak; however, her eyes were questioning and staring daggers at Reinhardt. She clashed with the latter twice, and twice she was stopped or pushed back.

“What’s the deal? Did your other stats increase to EX, or did you gain another Ultimate skill?”

With regards to their probing questions, Reinhardt simply shrugged his shoulders. While he thought he was holding back, in that last exchange, he got too excited and ended up using a little more power than necessary.

The [Lightforge Ascension] was unleashed at one hundred percent.

“Haha, your skills are all top notch. However, what about your combat ability?”

With the valley completely destroyed, there was no way of knowing how much time had passed. However, since battling other excellent fighters like the Seven Commanders was not an opportunity that comes often, none of them had the intention to stop.

They all wanted to try out their powers and test them against the other most powerful knights of the kingdom.

After those words, no one spoke. There was no need to. Battle intent surged; lightning and storms manifested just from their clashing auras.

And then the Seven of them moved at the same time.

The first to attack was Brutus, who had already thrown his swords and shield away. His large fist descended like a comet, hot, heavy, and absolute.

The target? It was none other than Reinhardt. The latter met it head on.

BOOM… The moment their fists collided, extreme shockwaves spread out like ripples, destroying everything.

Needless to say, in that exchange, it was Brutus who was overwhelmed. His fist was pushed back, and the force acting on his body was trying to send him flying. However, the latter spun his body and, using [Embodiment], cancelled the impact.

At the same breath, he threw a kick at Reinhardt, who easily dodged it.

The Divine Paladin was just about to counterattack when… RUMBLE… Lightning flashed and Zargeus entered the fray.

His target was Brutus and Reinhardt.

FLASH… FLASH… Even without the boost from his skill, the man was extremely fast, and his punches; no, it would be more accurate to call them thrusts, mimicked the sharp tip of a spear.

The jab came extremely fast; nevertheless, standing true to their title as the heroes and humanity’s last fortress, both of them managed to block and counterattack at the same time.

While Brutus attacked Zargeus, Reinhardt used the opportunity to deal a blow to the former.

Multiple attacks, three targets, all blocked. Still, the force behind the attacks sent all three of them flying back.

Reinhardt landed gracefully, having been pushed back by only a couple of steps; however, Brutus and Zargeus created a long ditch onto the ground before coming to a stop.

ROAR… Just then, a lion’s roar sounded out, and Marquis Herman was already coming down on Reinhardt with his attack. However, he was interrupted by Leona, who swept in with a blur of light.

Her heel traced a beautiful crescent of starlight and struck Herman squarely in the jaw. The Beast Knight had to hurriedly defend; the impact sent him flying.

The interruption gave Brutus and Zargeus the moment to recover. The former punched again; however, the one to meet him wasn’t Reinhardt or Zargeus; it was a frail looking old man.

BOOM… Air caved and visible ripples formed in the air. Conrad’s hand trembled intensely, yet the man endured the storm like an old tree that refused to budge.

“Haha, your punch packs quite some power. This old man’s bones might just break.” The [Guardian of the Forest] spoke.

“Don’t lie, your peculiar technique channelled all the force into the ground.”

Just like Brutus said, Conrad did not take the attack head on; instead, he used a martial technique to kick the ground with his heels, transferring all the vibrations and force into the ground, much like a tree with deep roots.

While Brutus fought with Conrad, Zargeus came attacking Herman. All four of them went fist for fist, blow for blow, shaking and destroying the already destroyed land beyond recognition.

Reinhardt eyed the chaotic battle; there was no team here, it was everyone for themselves. That said, he didn’t have any leeway to simply observe as Leona, after kicking Herman away, fixed him as her target.

Then the [Dawn Valkyrie] disappeared. Instantly, he jerked his head sideways, dodging the kick that came at him, breaking the speed of sound.

Reinhardt grabbed her by her ankles and flung her away. Or that was his intention. However, the woman used a jiu jitsu technique to soften the lock of her joints, bending at mind boggling angles.

Freed from his grasp, she grappled him, locking his joints. One of her arms coiled around his neck, another hooked behind his shoulders, keeping his right arm busy while her legs constrained his left arm in between her thighs.
