Chapter 432: Chapter 432- Grand Aegis Shatter (2)
Standing at the edge of the valley with his team behind him, Reinhardt muttered to himself.
Of course, the Seven Great knight orders were sensible enough to understand their own power; as such, they all had a tacit agreement not to use their ultimate skills.
Nevertheless, it couldn’t be said the same for the upstarts or upcoming knight orders who were looking at this chance and vying for the position of the Seven Great knight orders like hungry wolves.
Speaking of wolves, the Temple of Light had more than an unfriendly welcome from the Iron Wolf Knights.
As the tail end of the Seven Great knight orders, the Temple of Light’s position was the shakiest out of all the other six orders. As such, the Iron Wolf Knights, who had the momentum, reputation, and backing from the Council, vied for the position of the Temple of Light.
No, it was not only them; the other famous knight orders that have been shadowed by the seven for many years were looking at today as their opportunity.
“They are going down, they are so going down,” a few meters behind him, Vangeance muttered in a low voice. It appeared that the other party’s condescending looks got under his skin.
The young man was releasing so much bloodlust that it could cause an ordinary person to faint.
In a situation like this, you would expect his master to step in and discipline him. However, like master, like disciple; both of them were former thugs for a reason.
Even Marcus was oozing bloodlust and was completely riled up. Thankfully, the battle had rules, or else Reinhardt had no doubt that after this battle, many members of the Iron Wolf Knight wouldn’t be able to continue serving as knights.
Of course, even with rules, it remained to be seen how much his knights would hold back against the ones that dared to look down on them.
While Reinhardt was having such thoughts, sound transmission artifacts that were placed all around the valley started relaying the rules.
“Welcome, valiant knights, to the first ever event called the Grand Aegis Shatter. Today, thirty knight orders have entered the Storm Valley, and only the strongest and most resilient shall come out of this victorious.”
“Before we start this awesome event that everyone is keeping an eye on, let me, Monalisa, your favourite actress, announce the rules.”
Reinhardt glanced at the tree where a sound transmission artifact was placed. It appeared that the Council spared no expense to broadcast this so called Grand Aegis Shatter event all around the kingdom.
They even got these high demand sound transmission artifacts from the Kingdom of Lunaris and even got a famous actress to anchor.
“The rules are simple. I want all the knights to look above; a crystal will soon manifest in front of you.”
“They are your lifeline and also your most vulnerable part. Each knight order gets one of these, and your motive is to protect your own crystal while destroying the crystal of the other orders. As long as you can protect your own till the three hours duration is over and destroy an enemy order’s crystal, you win.”
The rule to this point was fairly simple. You just gotta protect the crystal in front of you and destroy an enemy order’s crystal before the three hours limit was up.
Kevin, Vangeance, and the others started checking the crystal that appeared in front of them.
It was big, about as big as an average adult human. It wasn’t too wide, about one meter in diameter, and as for the material it was built with, even a level 5 squire could destroy it, given they used an appropriately powerful skill or attack.
“Now, everyone, please pay attention to the roles. To not clutter the valley, we have decided that each knight order can only participate with ten members. Furthermore, only one level 9 and one level 8 knight can participate from each order. The rest can be made up with knights and squires.”
“There are three roles in this Grand Aegis Shatter. Crystal Guardian, Vanguard Knights, and Shadows. Crystal Guardian is the one who protects the crystal. You aren’t allowed to leave its side. Furthermore, there can be only one Crystal Guardian.”
“Vanguard knights are the front line fighters; you have to engage in open combat to destroy your opponent’s crystals. There can be up to seven Vanguard Knights”.
“As for Shadows, your actions aren’t limited like Vanguard Knights. You can sneak into the battles, scout your enemies, and cause chaos. Depending on your action, you can significantly boost or worsen the situation of your order. There can only be up to four Shadows.”
At those words from the announcer, the many knight orders contemplated their choices. The roles made the system of the battle more interesting. The members of the Temple of Light all looked at him, waiting for him to give his orders.
For the first and the most important role…
“About the Crystal Guardian, I believe I will have to take this role up myself.”
The rules of the Grand Aegis Shatter made it clear that the crystal was the most important factor in this battle. It is what decides whether an order won or lost.
Since the role of the Crystal Guardian was to protect the crystal, there was no one more qualified than him for the task.
No one had any qualms; in fact, they would not have it otherwise unless the person himself wanted some other role.
“Now, for the Vanguard Knights, Marcus, Silvia, Bernard, Delicia… you all will act as the main fighters.”
Reinhardt picked six members to act as the Vanguard Knights.
This naturally left…
“Vangeance, Kevin, and Gwen, you three will be our Shadows. There are no orders; adapt to the situation and act in the best interest of the order. It goes for all of you.”
“Yes!!” Everyone nodded.
At this moment, the announcer also revealed the last and the most important rule of this event.
