Chapter 428: Chapter 428- Vassal Of The Seven
“Owowow!! S-Senior Vangeance, you’re hurting me.”

“Heh, so you do realize who you’re talking to now, huh? Maybe I should just greet you like this from now on.”

The boisterousness of the two guys instantly attracted all the attention from those surrounding them.

Soon, members of the Temple of Light gathered around Kevin and Vangeance.

“You went to the Odessa estate every day for the past three days. I guess you’re quite relieved now that your dear junior is back and running again, huh?” Silvia spoke from the side.

“W-Who said that I went there every day? Besides, if this brat ends up dying, I would lose my convenient gofer. Hmph, it’s just that.”

“To call your junior a gofer, you’re quite mean, Senior Vangeance.”

The crowd laughed at the comedic routine of the duo.

After a while, the crowd dispersed, and it was just the usual squad.

“So how are you really?”

As the elder sister of everyone, Silvia questioned.

“Thank you for asking, elder sister. I’m doing quite okay. In fact, I’m doing more than just okay. Hehe, I just leveled up.” Kevin beamed, trying to hide his happiness but failing miserably.

“Hoh, not bad. You’re the fastest among the lot to achieve another level up.” Vangeance slammed the boy on the shoulder.

“Anyways, tell us what’s up with that Crimson State of yours.”

Crimson State, that is what the members of the Temple of Light were calling Kevin’s mysterious transformation.

“About that… I have no recollection.” He had yet to recall any of those memories.

“He just recovered from a serious condition. Why are you rushing him for an answer? Don’t tell me you want to fight him in his Crimson State?”

With his intentions seen by Silvia so easily, Vangeance couldn’t help but cough awkwardly.

“Um, where is the Commander?”

“Hm? Ah, he is in the main hall in the midst of a discussion with commanders of other knight orders. Why? Is there a reason you need to meet with him?”

Kevin nodded his head.

The Commander was someone who could see through his Nil stat, and he was the strongest and most knowledgeable person Kevin knew. Perhaps he would know something about this new Stat of his.

Kevin went inside the mansion and stood by the door of the main hall for about an hour.

Soon, the door opened, and he saw numerous knights with powerful auras walking out. Many of them were famous knight commanders whom he had seen during the Magic Knight Entrance Exam.

“Come in.”

The other party was already aware of his presence and thus called out.

Kevin obediently walked in.

Inside, the Commander of the Order of the Temple of Light was calmly seated on the couch while examining a scroll in his hand.

His large stature and awe inspiring presence remained as impactful as ever.

“Sit down.”

After finishing the scroll’s contents, Reinhardt placed it inside his [Dimensional Storage] and turned his full attention to Kevin, who looked considerably better than when his teammates dragged him out of that hidden chamber half dead.

“How is your health?”

“It’s much better now. Thank you for the Commander’s concern.”

“It’s good that you’re back to your usual self. So, tell me what is bothering you?”

Kevin didn’t hesitate and got straight to the point. He told Reinhardt everything that troubled him. From what he could recall of that day’s events to the moment he arrived before the altar to update his level and class.

Just as he was about to speak about his new stat, the former grinned and broached the subject before him.

“I see. So you’re here to ask me about the new stat that showed up in your status, right?”

“Y-Yeah.”

Kevin blinked in surprise. However, once he thought about it, it didn’t seem that abnormal. The Commander was someone who knew about his Nil Mana, a secret only he and a few people extremely close to him should have known.

If it was the Commander who could literally bring down the judgment of the heavens, then it wasn’t impossible.

Plus, with those words, the other party had also proved [Tiamat] wrong, who said that asking the Commander of the Temple of Light was useless. Even they wouldn’t know about his new stat.

As if seeing through his thought process, Reinhardt furrowed his brows and contemplated something carefully. He then pointed at the large crimson sword kept beside the boy and questioned.

“How much did the Vassal of the Seven tell you?”

“Vassal?”

“!!!”

While Kevin tilted his head in confusion, [Tiamat] was extremely shocked. If it could make an expression, right now its jaw would have dropped at the name Reinhardt just mentioned.

Seeing the squire’s blank reaction was all he needed to know what level of understanding he currently possessed.

Just to ensure he wasn’t tampering with destiny too much, he even activated his [Eyes of Divine Clarity].

Finally, he opened his mouth.

“While it is only natural to feel lost or curious about a power that deviates from the norm, you don’t have to worry excessively. A long, long time ago, there used to be a similar power like that on the continent”…

“However, with the ravages of time and the advent of the demons, the power was lost. You unlocking a stat like that could only mean something good, not bad. So stop worrying about needless things and focus on what you need to do right now. You do remember our talks from back then, right?”

Reinhardt was referring to the night he had talked with the boy about skills.

Kevin nodded his head; he remembered those words very well.

[If you ask me, skill is not something flashy like the ones I use. It has a much deeper meaning than just being a sword to kill, a tool to raise crops, or an elixir to heal. If you ask me, I would define it more as a ‘Thread of Truth’].

[It is the moment when instinct, memory, and purpose align so perfectly that something within your soul awakens].
