Chapter 414: Chapter 414- The Titanic Bones
“Though I do have a guess. It should be a power above even the [Heart of the Sword].”

“Eh? Isn’t there only two transcendent states?” Kevin questioned.

For squires like them, the concept of a transcendent states was something they learned not too long ago.

[One with the Sword], where the user becomes completely synchronized with their weapon. Every movement becomes fluid, instinctive, and precise. There is no wasted motion, no hesitation. The sword acts just like the way you want,

[Heart of the Sword], the state that allows one to feel the breath and intent of one’s enemy and their weapon, allowing them to dodge or intercept attacks far more easily.

These two powers were already so ridiculous and difficult to grasp. To think that there was even more.

“Haha, the path of martial powers is an unending road. The more powerful you become, the more shortcomings you can see within you.” Delicia explained

The squires nodded in reflection and placed their attention back towards the battlefield.

It was not just the knights of the Temple of Light who showed extraordinary powers; the knights of the other two orders were equally impressive. There were monsters like Vangeance, and super monsters like Silvia in each order.

And then there were those three, the incomprehensible beings who led these groups of monsters, aka… the commanders.

The more the squires watched, the more they felt like they were out of their league. Although they came here because the Commander chose them for this mission. However, weren’t they simply a dead weight right now?

Just as these thoughts arrived inside the minds of the squires, from the corner of their eyes, they saw Kevin making some strange movements.

“W-What… w-wait, what are you doinggg??…”

Before he could complete his sentence, he was dragged away.

Looking at him flailing his arms and legs while doing the moonwalk, the scene looked quite strange and amusing from the point of view of the others.

“Where is that guy going?”

“Kevin!!” they called out. However, the boy did not stop or, more precisely, he couldn’t.

Others couldn’t see it, but he was not messing around right now. Instead, he was being dragged by his sword.

“There… fast… go,” [Tiamat] spoke.

It increased its speed and dragged the boy to a corner of the vault.

“Wait… there is a wall… There is a wall!!”

The squire shouted. However, to his horror, despite his protests or resistance, he ended up face planting the wall the next second.

BAMM…

A tremor passed through the area, and the boy saw stars flying in his head.

“Owowow… it hurts. Why would you do that?”

A moment later, Kevin rubbed his fractured nose and complained. Given how strongly he slammed into the wall, it was a miracle that he only fractured his nose.

“Wall… break… important… inside,” the Crimson Sword hummed.

“Hey Kevin, you cannot just run off alone. Have you forgotten what the Commander told us?”

At this moment, his teammates caught up to him.

The boy had the urge to say that it was not him but the sword. However, knowing what their response would be, he chose to remain silent and ponder over the words [Tiamat] said to him.

There must be an important reason why it dragged him here. He stared at the wall and picked himself up from the ground.

The next second, he grabbed his sword and swung it towards the wall in front of him.

BANG… The wall shook greatly, and cracks appeared on its surface.

“It’s quite thick,” Kevin muttered. His movement did not stop; he swung his sword and smashed it into the wall again and again. Rubble and dust fell on the ground.

Seeing him suddenly do something like breaking the wall, everyone was lost for words. Did he eat something stupid? Why was he suddenly destroying the vault?

“What are you doing?” the squires questioned, concerned for his mental health.

“Breaking the wall.”

Their stares were painful; nevertheless, the boy continued, and soon a part of the wall broke off, allowing light to penetrate inside.

“It’s hollow,” Kevin glanced inside before hastening his actions. Soon, there was a big gap in the wall leading to some unknown place.

“Hurry…”

He could hear the sword urging him. And so, without any further delay, he headed in.

Gwen and the others followed behind, sticking close to him.

.

.

The place that was hidden inside the royal vault. If not for Kevin, no one would have found it out. The passage was dark with a stale, ancient scent in the air, indicating that no one had stepped here for a very, very long time.

“You sure it’s a good idea for us to come here?” Gwen questioned.

Kevin hesitated before looking toward the stag. For some unknown reason, he knew that he could communicate with the other.

“Bloomkeeper, I’m gonna need your help.”

To everyone’s surprise, the holy beast nodded its head. Once again, the antlers on its head shone with a radiant light, followed by the overgrowth of fungi and mushrooms that blossomed out of the cracks, bathing the narrow pathway in a brilliant bluish light.

Thanks to the illumination, the group could now proceed further.

As they advanced forward, they could feel the atmosphere becoming oppressive for some reason. It felt like they were walking straight into the open maw of some mighty ancient beast.

In this empty ruin that had endured the ravages of time, the noise of their boots hitting the stone floor and the breaths of their teammates next to them were the only sounds.

“Hey, why did you bring us here anyway?” Gwen questioned.

“It was not me but the sword instead. It led me here. Probably there is something here that it wants.”

“Not this again. Are you really telling me that your sword can talk?”

“That’s right,” Kevin nodded. He knew that it was hard for other to believe, but it was the truth.

With Kevin leading, the group continued to proceed forward. Soon, the corridor widened after a few minutes of walking, leading into a vast chamber large enough that the far walls were lost in shadow.
