Chapter 312: Chapter 312- The [Hammer of Resolve] Strikes (2)
Reinhardt nodded his head, his eyes still glued to the village in the distance from where loud thunderclaps rang out.

Seeing where the knight was looking, the village chief could not help but ask the question that was on everyone’s mind: What was going on?

Although they had followed Tollivar’s instructions, none of them knew what was going on in the village and why they had to escape from there.

Had it been any other case, Reinhardt would have been done with giving them bits and pieces of information that would be enough to make them aware of their predicament and the danger they were in.

However, as if he wanted everyone to witness the last battle of this unsung hero who bravely marched to his death to rescue the villagers. He told them about everything, starting from the priest who was actually a demon who took over a human’s body, its schemes, and how all of them were marked with Oroboros’ bite, signalling their death.

When the villagers heard that, their faces became pale. Many of them, especially pregnant women, even collapsed on the ground, clutching their bellies.

Such a horrifying thing was going on in their village, and they had no idea about it. No, far from it, they were actually willingly taking part in this horrifying ritual while thinking all along that their pain and injuries healing was a miracle from the Seven Old Gods.

When, in actuality, it was all part of the scheme of the demon who was rearing them as sacrifice.

“Is Sir Tollivar fighting that demon?” the village chief asked, his face a lot more panicked now.

“Yeah, you all better witness the power of the knight who is giving it his all to save you”.

.

BOOM… BOOM… thunderclaps continued to rang out from the village. After seeing that long distance attack was meaningless against the force of that hammer, the demon started a close quarters fight.

Of course, he did not use his real body and instead used the extension of his limbs and tentacles to form them in shapes resembling arms and legs.

BOOM… the tentacles were blasted apart; however, Grimjaw wasn’t done. Now in all fours, it started charging towards the knight like a beast. Extremely long bones protruding out of its skull and skeletal frame to form long, sharp horns.

Of course, in front of that hammer, its powers were meaningless.

“[Splinters Storm]” the knight shouted out, and just like that, all of its bones were crushed into fine dust.

ZZZzzz the giant hammer head that even distorted the space, approached near the Grimjaw’s face, who dodged it using its tentacles to change the direction of its body at the last second.

Tch… the knight clicked his tongue, and so did the demon. Both of them were frustrated by the other party’s actions.

Tollivar was frustrated because the Grimjaw was not fighting it head on and instead was using delaying tactics, something that was quite unusual for its species which all prided their physical bodies and would most often than not always try to finish the fight in a close quarter combat.

In that regard, this demon was quite an oddity.

“Wait.. you are no ordinary Grimjaw. Are you a servant of one of the kings?” Tollivar questioned, coming to a realisation.

“Kfufu, you are too late to realise that. Indeed, I am the direct subordinate of Lord Vexhorn, one of the Demon Generals under the Twelfth Heavenly King”.

In short, what he was trying to say was that it was not like the other Grimjaws and was pretty high up in the ranks of the demon army.

“Hmph, don’t think that I am afraid of you just because I am not fighting you head on. I admit that the hammer of yours is exceptionally strong. However, you are still a human after all. You will get tired and your injuries will continue to build, while I, on the other hand can heal infinitely as long as I have mana.”

The grimjaw laughed. That said, inwardly, it was extremely shaken. What the hell is wrong with the man and the hammer? Every time that man swung his hammer, a powerful pressure burst forth that made the demon feel like its lungs were being seized, making it extremely afraid of receiving a blow head on.

In the end, after seeing that there was no choice, it resorted to using the curse.

Tollivar, who was standing overbearingly like a mountain, suddenly shook. His body stumbled forward, and he had to use the hilt of his hammer to steady himself.

“Heh, looks like the oroboros’ curse is finally showing its effect. Kekeke… you didn’t know about the curse, did you? You should have done your research before challenging me to a battle.”

Seeing that the knight was finally showing signs of weakening, the Grimjaw laughed.

“What a fool. I have been cultivating this curse for the past two months by sacrificing the human’s blood and feeding it their agony. That is to say, the curse holds the power of the suffering, injury, negative emotions, and even the exhaustion of more than two hundred people that have been cultivated for over sixty days”…

“Even a high ranking knight will die once hit with that. No matter how powerful you are, you too will die. Give up, it’s my victory”.

Thinking that it had won, the demon declared in triumph and approached the knight to deal them the final blow. A mistake that he would pay for immediately.

All high ranking knights, especially true knights, were extremely stubborn and resilient fellows. However, it had to be said that even among them, ones like Tollivar who had never lived under the spotlight, never shining and never giving up against the relentless trials, were a different breed in their own.

The knight was waiting for this precise moment when the demon relaxed its guard to deal damage. Like a tiger hunting for its prey, Tollivar sprang up and swung his hammer.
