Chapter 790: Demon’s Gathering
In the demon continent.

After the failed invasion, they had returned to their normal lives once again—or at least, they tried to.

Because of Nox’s attack on the floors and the killing of several demon lords, the entire realm was in chaos. Constant fights broke out on each affected floor as demons battled for the title of the next demon lord.

To become the next lord of a floor, all demons interested were required to battle in the arena, and only the last person standing would be crowned the demon lord.

However, that was not all.

On some streets, posters were plastered everywhere—crudely nailed to walls, hung from black iron poles, and scattered across the bloodstained ground. Demons passing by would glare at these posters with intense hatred, sometimes even spitting or slicing through them in rage.

On the poster was a dark-haired boy with strands of red and eyes like bottomless pits of nothingness.

Naturally, this person was none other than Nox.

During the time he had invaded the demonic realm, his face hadn’t been concealed. His features were recognized by intelligent demons almost immediately. After describing him to the artist, he was sketched out with frightening accuracy.

Presently, he was the most wanted being in the entire demon realm.

…

On Floor 20 of the Demon Empire.

Emerald, the succubus, was calmly observing her floor from the balcony of her castle. In her grasp was a glass filled with a red liquid that bubbled slightly… it looked more like venom than a drink.

When she looked into the shimmering surface, it reflected her beautiful face—those distinct glossy black horns and her succulent cupid lips completing the image.

Her floor was among the few places that weren’t destroyed. That was because she had been smart enough to make an alliance with Nox.

‘I guess things are back to normal on his side now,’ she thought, spinning her glass, a small smile appearing on her face.

She didn’t feel any remorse for helping the human back then.

Yes, she had betrayed her race and played a big role in causing the invasion to fail, forcing demons back to their world, but did she mind?

It was a resounding no… left to her alone, she would do it repeatedly.

Compared to what her species had gone through, this was nothing. She could still vividly remember how they were treated—like disposable playthings meant only to satisfy the urges of the other demons.

(For reference, check Chapter 681: Alliance [1])

Emerald was aware that if the others found out, she would be executed without hesitation, as demons were a heartless and violent race.

She clenched her glass tightly and murmured to herself, “I need to find a way to contact him again… it’s almost that time, and it’s best if we put our plans in motion before he awakens.”

Step! Step!

Footsteps sounded behind her. Even without turning, she could tell it was one of her many servants.

“Mi’Lady,” the servant called out in a low, crisp voice.

“What is it?”

“The time for the gathering has arrived.”

Her eyes flashed sharply at the words.

“Lead the way.”

The gathering they were heading to wasn’t held on her floor—it was held on the top floor, where the Demon Emperor resided, Floor 100.

Emerald followed behind her servant, her heels tapping softly against the obsidian tiles as they moved deeper into the castle corridors. Torches flickered with green flames, casting long shadows.

The mention of the gathering had completely changed her mood.

That event was never held lightly.

Only when the Demon Empire was on the verge of crisis…

Or when something massive was about to begin.

Her servant glanced back. “Mi’Lady, the portal is prepared.”

“Good,” she replied. “We’ll head out immediately.”

As they walked, her mind drifted.

The Top Floor Gathering.

It was an ancient tradition that dated thousands of years back—back to when the first Demon Emperor unified the continent by slaughtering every other ruler. Since then, all demon lords, no matter their strength, obeyed one rule:

When the Emperor calls, they come.

No excuses. No delay.

Only those who controlled the floors were allowed to attend. Anyone else stepping within that sacred zone would be killed instantly by the Emperor’s Will.

Normally, these meetings were rare.

Once every century at most.

But this was different.

This was the second gathering within a few months… something that had never happened in recorded history.

The previous one had been when the plans for invading the human continent were introduced.

And now this…

What could it be this time?

Emerald’s grip tightened around her bubbling glass.

“…They must have discovered something,” she muttered.

Nox’s invasion… her alliance with him… the destruction of several floors… the chaos sweeping through the continent…

All of it had forced the Emperor to move sooner than expected.

Emerald took a slow breath.

If they ever learned she had collaborated with the enemy?

She wouldn’t simply die, all succubi would pay dearly for her sins as well.

That was how demons handled traitors.

But she didn’t regret it.

Not even slightly.

If the human grew stronger and achieved his goals, just as he had promised, then the entire demon continent would be flipped upside down. Between the two of them, they could overturn the hierarchy completely.

‘I need to warn him… we need to make the fast moves.’ She clenched her jaw.

The corridor ended.

Before her stood a massive portal—a swirling red vortex shaped like a demonic eye.

Her servant bowed. “Mi’Lady, once we step through, we will arrive directly on the 100th floor’s gate platform.”

Emerald nodded.

The 100th Floor.

The stronghold of the Demon Emperor.

The place where all demon lords bowed their heads.

The absolute seat of power.

And tonight… every surviving floor ruler would gather there.
