Chapter 780: The Truth
Nox’s full attention was now on Jack. He had been waiting for this moment for several months, and it appeared that Jack was finally about to come clean.

He waited quietly, and with every minute that Jack took, he grew more restless. There were very few things that made him this on edge, and this was one of them.

Whether Jack was doing it deliberately, taking his time before speaking, or was simply still pondering over it was unknown.

A couple more breaths later, a determined gleam flashed across Jack’s eyes.

“Unlike normal Awakened… I’m a bit spe—”

“We’re here!” Ria’s voice rang out right at that moment.

Below stretched the half-rebuilt capital of the Vermilion Kingdom.

A deep frown appeared on Nox’s face as he slowly shifted his gaze back to Jack. The previous gleam was now completely quenched.

The Beast Tamer sighed quietly in his heart, knowing it would be difficult to get Jack to talk again.

Even before he spoke, Jack flashed a smile. “How about I tell you after the whole stuff?”

“Sure.” Nox shrugged. He wanted Jack to willingly tell him rather than putting pressure on him. One thing he had come to understand was that the latter didn’t have any ill intentions.

Therefore, he wasn’t worried about being harmed.

‘If he wanted to harm me, he wouldn’t have broken me free out of the ice back in Snowhelm.’ he thought.

Meanwhile, the carriage slowly descended, landing right on the courtyard of a building that seemed to be in much better condition compared to all the others.

It wasn’t hard to figure out that this building was the temporary castle of the king, as Adrian was standing outside with a couple of guards and newly appointed nobles.

“You have grown taller since the last time we met,” Adrian said.

Nox hadn’t been paying too much attention to his height. These past weeks, his mind had only been occupied with how to spread the Beast Taming talent.

However, now that Adrian pointed it out, he couldn’t help but glance at Jack, and his eyes narrowed slightly.

He was taller than Jack by some inches. His current height was now roughly 6ft, and he was still some months short of turning 18.

To be honest, Jack had noticed it quite a while ago, but now he felt that the difference was getting wider by the day.

‘Was this still the same boy I saw in the tunnel to Snowhelm?’ he couldn’t help but think.

Naturally, Nox knew the reason for this. It was because of the constant use of Shadow Oblivion, which sucked the life essence of its victims, further nourishing his bones and body in general.

But when was the last time he used that skill? It had been gathering dust for quite some time now.

After short greetings—mostly about how both kingdoms were healing after the demon invasion—

“I believe my sister has already briefed you about the reason for the visit?” Adrian asked moments later.

Nox nodded and said seriously, “But it’s best you know this before we begin.”

He could simply go on without telling them the potential disadvantages of what they were about to implement, but it was against Nox’s morals and ethics.

It was better they knew now to avoid blaming others in case of casualties in the future.

“Go on,” Adrian nodded.

“Others would find the class a threat,” Nox began. “They might even go as far as sending mercenaries to assassinate those who awaken the class… the temples are also at risk.”

Adrian listened quietly, as did the nobles beside him.

“Just as there are disadvantages, there are also benefits,” Nox continued. “For one, the presence of Beast Tamers would be a big morale boost to any kingdom’s army. Furthermore, they could also carry out many tasks like rebuilding houses, maintaining order, and supporting large-scale manual operations.”

As they listened to Nox speak, even those who had been reluctant to accept King Adrian’s wish found their eyes beginning to light up.

Nox wouldn’t be stupid enough to list only the disadvantages without mentioning the advantages.

He had carefully listed the disadvantage first and then followed with the advantages. However, he went into more detail about the advantages.

It wasn’t because he was trying to trick the Vermilion Kingdom. Rather, it was because the advantages far outweighed the disadvantages.

After listening to all this—

“I think we proceed with the original plan. Besides, I’m certain that if we can drive out the powerful demon race, we can handle a bunch of arrogant humans.” Adrian gave Nox a knowing look.

“I forgot to mention one more advantage,” Nox said.

“There is still another one?” Adrian asked, slightly shocked. He felt the advantages already listed were more than enough to compel any king open to innovation.

“As long as you get attacked, Cromwell—the original home of Beast Tamers—would lend a helping hand,” Nox stated confidently. “And that goes for any kingdom that accepts the new Beast Taming class.”

“Hahahaha! This makes it even better…” Ria laughed. “All the kingdoms that accept the Beast Taming class can form a truce to get rid of any threat that endangers the Beast Taming class.”

“Such a genius idea.” Adrian couldn’t help but praise his sister with a proud smile on his face.

In truth, Nox had already thought about this, but he wasn’t petty enough to steal the limelight from Ria.

It wouldn’t just be human kingdoms… little did they know that even the Sea Kingdom was now an ally of the Cromwell Kingdom.

Despite being a relatively new kingdom, their military strength was slowly rising.

Things were shaping up quite easily for him; his goal of spreading the Beast Taming class was proceeding smoothly. Except for the hindrance from the Sea Devotees, there hadn’t really been any obstacles to his goal.

It was not only humans that saw the Beast Tamer class as a threat… the gods of the various classes did as well.

Deep down in Gabriel’s heart, he knew it was only a matter of time before hindrances arrived.

And he was right, because somewhere in the seas, two identical twins were slowly approaching with cold, listless gleams in their eyes.
