Chapter 500: Helplessness
Chapter 500

“Is that… a fight among humans?” Luo Li couldn’t help what he was seeing. None of them could.

Sky-splitting sword slashes, spells that broke past the realm of sanity, and most of all, the common sense-shattering battle sense.

“This… isn’t a battle at all.” The ethereal woman couldn’t help but say. Even she wasn’t confident enough going against a ninth circle mage, let alone going against one this easily.

“Tch.” Xin Huatao clicked his tongue as he looked at the sky, where the ongoing battle was too fast for even his eyes to keep up. Yet he was called the strongest villain.

‘What a joke.’ He couldn’t help but say. But, as if waiting for him to realize his own helplessness, he was welcomed by a notification from his system.

[Frustrated?]

‘What?’ His eyes widened. He had never heard the system speak in any other voice than its usual robotic voice.

[If you want power]

[I can offer you more]

‘…’ Xin Huatao remained silent before he asked, ‘And what do I have to do in return?’

[Nothing]

[Just be the villain you are]

“That’s all…” At the round table, the man sitting beside the golden-haired man in the golden armor said, his hands under his chin, while a smirk on his face relayed his confidence.

“You have to do.” He said, and the golden-haired man sitting near him smirked as well, as if ridiculing the human who was even entertaining the idea of that sly man.

Back in the arena, Xin Huatao remained silent for quite a while before he asked, ‘And what villainous task do you require of me?’

[Simple]

[Kill those around you]

‘Don’t be stupid.’ Xin Huatao rebuked. Just the sound of that idea was ridiculous. Killing everyone around him was just a pipe dream. The strong ones would kill him the moment he displayed any of his killing intent.

[If you’re worried about those around]

[Then you don’t have to be]

[I can help you with that]

Suddenly, the voice ceased, and the usual robotic voice of the system rang back in his head…

[You have received two items]

[Item: Quick Teleport Ring (S)]

[Item: Divine Shield Necklace (SS)]

[Item: Dimension Stone (SSS)]

Once Xin Huatao read the descriptions of the items, he couldn’t help but be taken aback.

[So?]

[Can you do it?]

‘I am curious as to why you want me to but…’ Xin Huatao stopped speaking as he looked up at the sky and realized a wall he could not cross with just the knowledge of the novel alone. Besides the protagonist, there were still others who could rival the protagonist, or even surpass him. In such a situation, it was impractical to just focus on defeating the protagonist when a world of monsters to suppress him would still remain.

If there was a chance all of them could die here, in this dungeon, altogether, then Xin Huatao was going to take it.

‘I’m a villain after all.’

~~

“How long are you going to be distracted, huh?” Xavier asked as he threw another barrage of elemental attacks at Wei Jun, who effortlessly managed to dodge them all, but as far as closing the distance between them was concerned, then…

‘He’s too adapted.’ Wei Jun couldn’t help but think as he slashed another giant water ball, cleaving it from the middle, cutting the very essence of mana holding the water together, which caused it to flood the ground.

Just like that, Wei Jun twisted, spun, and flew through the sky in hopes of dodging those attacks, but no matter what he did, there was nothing he could do to close the distance between the two of them.

“Just because you learned how to fight a mage does not mean it is easy to do so,” Xavier said, sending a wave of pure mana which WeiJun cleaved through with his sword and protected himself.

[It’s done]

As soon as Wei Jun heard those words, Wei Jun smirked and…

[Qi empowerment]

[Indomitable]

[Berserk]

[All stats +110]

[The user will no longer lose health]

[Attack power +100%]

[Attack speed +100%]

Wei Jun ignored everything and launched headfirst into the battle.

Fighting through the spells, enduring their fall on his body, Wei Jun emerged from the plethora of spells in front of Xavier and slashed him down with his sword.

[Host, I forgot to tell you one thing]

Clang!!!

Wei Jun’s sword collided with Xavier’s cane that had moved at an unprecedented speed, causing a shockwave to smit that erased all other powers in their surroundings, clearing everything around them for everyone to see.

[Xavier was a magic swordsman]

“No shi—kugh!!!” Wei Jun realized the fact faster than the overseer could tell him, and he was pushed back, both of them were, equally. Wei Jun managed to cut off the mana burst emitted by Xavier, which was a lot like aura but a lot more destructive than the defensive nature of aura.

“You couldn’t have told me that earlier!”

[I didn’t know you were going to close the distance!]

[And weren’t you focused on something else?!]

“This and that are two things!!!” Wei Jun yelled and once again charged at Xavier, who had no choice but to face Wei Jun head-on now that Wei Jun had thrown away all reservations and only focused on attacking.

“Who are you talking to, I wonder?” Xavier asked as they both exchanged strikes. The shockwaves emitted from their fight were causing sparks to be produced upon each contact, and the shockwave turned their surroundings into rubble. While they were still away from the arena, the audience could still feel the tremors.

Up above in the sky, they could witness the geometric structure of black and blue as if they were mingling to create a harmonious view of a picnic.

But they, those who were close and witnessing it first hand, fully aware of what it was, knew that it was anything but beautiful.

The collision of black and blue that looked as if a supernatural nova in space could be seen on the earth, and the only feeling they could all glean from it was…

“Death.”

The trails of the battle left behind by the battle of the two superhuman beings could only be described as such. Speed, power, ferocity. Only such deadly things could be picked up from the energy signatures. A clear sign of a realm humans would never be able to cross.

“Haha.” A grandmaster in the audience couldn’t help but let out a muffled chuckle. A chuckle of helplessness and most of all, an estranged cry of despair.

He lost his will to fight, and he wasn’t alone in that shameful act. Many among them lost their will to fight as they saw that splendor before their eyes, as the two powers collided and their surroundings turned to nothingness, they could only think one thing…

“I can never reach that realm.” The man said. At first, when he saw Wei Jun, all he thought of him was an ambitious young man who sought to possess money and power, knowing greed beyond what his young mind could handle.

But throughout this trial, Wei Jun proved his intellectual ability, and not just that, he also proved he wasn’t just a young man who was after worldly desires.

But none of that, his sacrifice in the first and second trials, his courage, and even now, his will to stand up against an entity that couldn’t be defeated while surpassing his own limits, couldn’t come even close to what he felt for the young man.

Beyond admiration, beyond thankfulness. What he felt was nothing but fear.

Although he was stronger than the young man fighting up above in the sky, displaying a power that was blindingly beautiful but equally deadly, or perhaps more, he was sure of one thing.

He would never be able to defeat the young man if it ever came to it.

The power he had accumulated for years would be useless against that young opponent.

“Haha.” He chuckled as well, just like that grandmaster had, because he also felt a tinge of despair deep within.

‘My time is already gone.’

He thought. And not just him, many among them thought the same thing.

However, one person didn’t.

“NO!!!” Xin Huatao yelled. He looked towards the sky, at the figures fighting, at the divine scene that could only be created through sheer power and refused.

He refused a fate like before.

“I will never!”

“NEVER!”

“GO BACK TO BEING SUPPRESSED AGAIN!!!”

If he was confused before, if he was apprehensive before, now he was straight out afraid. Afraid of the young man in the sky who looked at him like he wasn’t enough. Who not only looked down at him, but gazed at him like he was nothing but his prey.

Those eyes.

He refused to look into them again.

He refused to be weak again.

“I REFUSE!!!”

Xin Huatao yelled, and with his hand shrouded in Qi, he targeted the person closest to him. He didn’t care that the city would be destroyed. That was probably the goal of the higher being anyway.

But now he stopped caring about that, too.

Survival took precedence. And the only way to do that was to kill everyone.

“Kyah!!” The woman closest to him, his target, was filled with despair as she saw the fast-moving fist headed straight for her heart.

But…

Grab!
