Chapter 488: Briefing
Chapter 488

The atmosphere was tense, as tense as it could have been. In the room, the top three sects, the new ones, of course, including the number one Thunder Cloud Tempest Sect, and the other two, who rose to the top because there was no one else to take their place.

Other than them, there was the CSF and the military, along with some high-ranking unaffiliated cultivators. Among them, Xin Huatao looked around with a tense expression on his face. Even if he was a commander-ranked cultivator and ridiculously strong with the power of the system on his side, he wasn’t sure he could act arrogant there.

That was also why he accepted the summons and didn’t hesitate much. He was strong, sure, but the military was still the strongest power in the empire, and considering the first-ranked sect was also now on friendly terms with the military, it wasn’t wise to make a ruckus.

He looked at the man who was the strongest there by far. The emperor ranked cultivator, Song Huan. Unlike others who simply thought he was at the grandmaster realm, Xin Huatao knew the reality from the novel. After all, Song Huan was a major character in the novel.

Although there had been a lot of changes in the world since his transmigration into the body of the original Xin Huatao, the key details of the novel remained unchanged.

However, there were a few massive changes that even he had to worry about.

The first of them was the appearance of such a big dungeon, the rank of which could not be measured. But from how big it was, it wasn’t a low-ranked dungeon, so the probability was that it was at the very least an S ranked dungeon. The worst probability was that it was higher, and given its size of it had never been seen before, it was true.

The second was…

“How long do we have to wait?” A man angrily asked.

“Until everyone has arrived. We can’t begin.” Luo Li simply replied.

“What?! Just because of one man, you’re wasting all of our time?!” The man threw an angry tantrum once again.

“Relax.” A woman with ethereal beauty said as she added, “It’s not time yet. We just arrived early.”

“That’s what I’m saying, you hag! His seniors are here before him, shouldn’t he be here before us?!” The man angrily replied.

“What?! A hag! I’m still only sixty-four!” The woman with the ethereal beauty replied angrily as she slammed the table and stood up.

‘Only?’ Everyone in the room thought, but no one had the guts to say anything to her.

After all, she was one of the nine emperor-ranked cultivators of the empire. Unaffiliated, yet known by everyone in the room for how much of a threat she was.

After Liu Qinaghua and another only Saint rank cultivator, she was the only one on the verge of breaking through to the Saint rank realm of cultivation. Although she hadn’t achieved that realm, she was still at the peak of the emperor realm, and even Song Huan had to be careful of her.

Of course, that didn’t mean he was scared of her. Just be careful of her. He was sure he could defeat her, and she was also aware of his lunacy, so she always remained within her limits as well.

Finally, before the argument could break out into chaos, the door opened and a man, followed by a foreign man with red hair and a blonde foreigner with green eyes, entered.

“Oh my~” The woman forgot everything when she saw the man at the front. It wasn’t just her; the handsomeness exuded by Wei Jun immediately entranced every female in the room.

Wei Jun quietly took his seat, and the two with him remained on their feet since chairs for them weren’t arranged. Wei Jun waved his hand, and two chairs appeared behind him out of nowhere, which seemed a little out of place considering they were a little different, but no one said anything.

“Sit down.” Wei Jun said in his usual cold voice, and the two followed, without saying anything.

“Now that everyone is here, should we start?” Luo Li asked, hoping no drama would ensue, but that was wishful thinking when there were so many powerful figures in the room.

“Wait a minute!” The man who had been making quite a ruckus before said and turned to Wei Jun, “You there, junior. Don’t you know you ought to greet your seniors? And being late on top of that. Do you have no respect for us?”

Wei Jun remained silent against the question for a few seconds and let the silence in the heavy atmosphere stretch before he simply said, “One, we’ve never met before. Two, there are still ten minutes before the meeting’s scheduled time, so I’m early in a sense. And three, who are you?”

“Haha.” Sing Huan couldn’t help but chuckle. The same went for a few more, and that made the man feel more humiliated than ever. However, before he could do anything, Song Huan said, “Why don’t you sit down? We have a crisis on our hands. Be the senior you were talking about just now and show some maturity.”

“Tch.” The man clicked his tongue, but everyone knew he wasn’t going to leave it so easily.

“Let’s get on with it. We don’t have much time.” An old buff man with no signs of wrinkles on his face said.

“Yes.” Luo Li replied before he began to explain everything, “Yesterday, a dungeon gate appeared above the skies of the Fengdu City. Unfortunately, after using most of our resources, we still haven’t been able to figure out what the rank of the dungeon is.”

[They’re quite primitive, I have to say]

[Can none of them feel the energy coming out of the dungeon?]

‘You can?’ Wei Jun asked.

[Cultivators these days, I tell you]

[Back in my day—]

‘What danger level is it?’ Wei Jun interrupted before the system could get any further into it.

[…]

[The areas of the Central plane]

[The inner ones]

[They’re not the major areas, but they are still quite big and dangerous ones]

[They’re the areas that were shut down due to the infestation of monsters]

[You might also run into martial artists, but those chances are quite grim]

[Even if you do, I doubt they would welcome you with open arms just because you look like them]

‘Why not?’ Wei Jun asked.

[Because of the power difference]

[Even common people with no martial arts training were stronger than cultivators at the Qi gathering realm]

[And since martial artists function on one simple rule of the strongest survives, they wouldn’t be friendly with you if they were to deem you weaker than them]

‘But since those are monstrous areas, and they are stuck in there with us having a chance to come out, wouldn’t it be better to bring them out?’

[I don’t think you understand]

[The entirety of the central plains was locked away]

[It was like ten percent of the world was locked away]

[While through dungeons you can only access some designated areas, for the people already living in there, nothing had changed]

[While they know they are locked away inside, it doesn’t really matter much to them because they still have an entire continent at their disposal]

[And without threats from the outside nations, they are more than happy to remain in there]

‘Then what reason is there for them to come out?’ Wei Jun couldn’t help but ask. Although he had a feeling he already knew the answer.

[Because you’re unlocking those areas as the system updates every time]

[So far, the laws and world have intervened and changed the reality to make it so no one would understand]

[But the central plains and the Ashguard empires are two different things]

[There are a few beings in there that not even the fate of this world can suppress]

‘Such as your father?’ Wei Jun asked.

[And many more]

Wei Jun mulled everything the overseer freshly informed him of while the rest kept their own conversation ongoing. Wei Jun wasn’t interested in the briefing because he had someone more reliable with him who had more reliable information than just some guesses.

Finally, the briefing came to an end, and a plan was devised.

“I think a classic exploration would benefit us more.” Wei Jun raised his hand and offered his opinion.

“Exploration?” The ethereal woman asked.

“Yes,” Wei Jun replied before he explained, “Parties with focused defense and offense that can cover areas faster than usual.”

“So you mean to say we don’t focus on hunting monsters but mapping out the dungeon?” The man who was quite unruly before asked, making Wei Jun understand that he could use his head when needed.

“Exactly. Clearing this dungeon should be our first and foremost priority. Making a profit is something we can look for later.” Wei Jun said, which everyone in the room agreed with.

“Very well then,” Luo Li spoke since no one had any objection to that suggestion, and said, “Then we can make teams based on that.”
