Stuck in a Chinese novel - Chapter 484
Chapter 484: Clean lives
Chapter 484
While Mark couldn’t understand that notion, Morial, who had been with Wei Jun when he met Guardian, knew differently.
Wei Jun stopped for a while before he said, “Well, ignore them if you can’t find anything.”
Wei Jun could feel himself becoming different from the beginning. It wasn’t like he was a maniac, but if there was someone who stood in his way, even if innocent, he wouldn’t hesitate to take care of them. But ever since absorbing Guardian, he had become…
“So you can be kind too, huh? What a nice surprise.” Morial said before he turned to Mark Wilson and said, “Let’s go, girly boy.”
“Gir– wha–haa—What?” Mark Wilson was left speechless and couldn’t help but complain.
Wei Jun saw them both leave and leaned back in his chair. It was alright, actually. There were no innocents. Especially in the world of politics and business politics.
Wei Jun was thinking about it when Li Wei returned and informed him of the meeting. It was to be held in an hour, and since Wei Jun was already dressed and ready to go, he called for Xing Xiaomei to accompany him to the meeting.
“Why her?” Li Wei couldn’t help but ask.
Someone acquainted with business would have been much better, but Wei Jun shook his head and said, “We’re meeting politicians. It’s necessary to scare them off instead of overpowering them with better tactics.”
Li Wei didn’t understand better, but she still nodded. Had Wei Jun not sent Morial for a job already, he would have asked him to accompany him, but since he wasn’t, then he was just going to have to work with the second hotheaded person in his group.
And Xing Xiaomei won that slot without any competition.
Shortly afterwards, Wei Jun and Xing Xiaomei were in the back of his limo while Lao Chen took the responsibility of being his driver.
“Had fun last night?” Xing Xiaomei teasingly asked.
“What? You heard it?” Wei Jun asked.
“The whole house heard it with how loud those two were. You should have seen them in the morning. They were red-faced and couldn’t even look at each other. Just what in the world did you make them do, you perv?” Xing Xiaomei asked in her same teasing demeanor.
“I was backed up.” Wei Jun replied without any hint of embarrassment.
“And you’re not now, right? I’m safe here with you, right? Or do I need to start recording for my own protection?” Xing Xiaomei again teased Wei Jun.
“Trust me, if I wanted to do something to you, you wouldn’t be safe even in hell.” Wei Jun replied.
“Ha! Big words.” Xing Xiaomei didn’t back down.
Wei Jun shook his head and ignored her. He read the file given by Li Wei on all of the officials who would be leading this meeting. Li Wei had dug up some dirt on them in the short time she could, and Wei Jun could tell she had done a good job. Mark Wilson’s contact had to be utilized for that, but even then, she had done quite a thorough job.
Wei Jun smiled and closed the file. The project of rebuilding an entire city was almost in his grasp. If nothing else went wrong, he should have enough for one thing he had an eye for quite some time.
As they arrived in a temporary office building outside the city, they were led inside by a woman in a secretary outfit, and they soon arrived in a room where there were four people already present.
Wei Jun looked at them all and took a seat, the only seat that was empty, while Xing Xiaomei stood behind him, her back against the wall.
“Well then, since you’re here, shall we begin?” A woman in the room said, which wasn’t much of a question, but Wei Jun and the rest of the men nodded, and she posed the first question, “Mister Ruan, are you aware why we have reached out to you?”
“Because you have no other choice.” Wei Jun replied.
“Pardon?” One of the old men asked.
“Ah, apologies. I have a bad habit of speaking my mind.” Wei Jun replied before he added, “You called me here to discuss the Yuan Yin city reconstruction project.”
“Haha.” One of the men chuckled before he said, “No, no. That is definitely not why we called you here. Didn’t you get the letter? Your company has been accused of excusing employees of their rights and several other offenses, such as tax evasion and illegal activities.”
Wei Jun stopped. He paused for just a second before a smile appeared on his face.
“And where did you hear such a thing, might I ask?” Wei Jun asked.
“Well, we hear things here and there.” The last man replied.
“Is that so?” Wei Jun asked before he said, “Well, believe it or not, there are a few things I’ve heard here and there as well.”
“Is that so?” The youngest of the men said, who was well in his middle age.
“Yeah.” Wei Jun replied before he addressed Xing Xiaomei, “Why don’t you tell them about the two boys we picked up smoking a joint, Xing Xiaomei?”
“Huh? You mean those two who claimed to know a lady in quite high places? The two who admitted they had done some… unethical work… for the politician lady, including the bed activities. Both at once, at that. Are you talking about them?” Xing Xiaomei played along and asked.
“Precisely. And…” Wei Jun hyped up and addressed the four politicians, “I know a very capable detective who’s quite enthusiastic about justice. I’m sure he’s gonna make them spill everything. Down to the last detail. Including who that politician lady is. Wouldn’t that be amazing, right, politician lady?”
The woman’s expression turned for the worse, and she was about to say something in her defense when Xing Xiaomei spoke, “Oh, and don’t forget about the one who is into actresses these days.”
“Actresses?” Wei Jun asked.
“Yeah, there’s word on the street that there’s a scumbag who harasses young budding actresses and forces them to commit various acts. If it were up to me,” Xing Xiaomei passed as a threatening glint passed through her eyes as she looked at the middle-aged man and said, “I’d rip his balls off and shove them down his throat.”
The middle-aged man gulped as Xing Xiaomei finished her sentence.
“Haha.” Wei Jun chuckled.
“Well, no matter what, he can’t be worse than the one who is known to have a very intimate connection with a prostitute, even when he’s married. Don’t you think such a guy should be punished?” Wei Jun asked.
“Should he be? Isn’t he just in love?” Xing Xiaomei asked as she looked at the second oldest man who was in his middle fifties. He sweated when she looked at him.
But, then Xing Xiaomei continued, “You know what I think?”
“What?” Wei Jun asked.
“The worst one of them is the one who is rumored to purchase minor abducted boys and…” Xing Xiaomei didn’t finish her sentence, but the air in the room turned heavy as in a cold voice, Wei Jun replied, “Ah, that one. Well, that one can’t be forgiven.”
Just as he said that, a slight thud resonated in the room before a fountain of blood erupted from the headless body that covered those in the surroundings.
“Aahh!!!”
“What!!”
“Kyaa!!!”
All the politicians screamed, but just as they did…
“Sit down. Silence.” Wei Jun simply spoke, and the trio slammed back into their seats, their mouths clamped shut.

‘It’s not even a dent.’ Wei Jun thought before he turned his eyes to the rest of the three.
They shivered as Wei Jun’s gaze landed on them, but pitiful beings couldn’t even scream, let alone let out a slight plea of mercy.
“We can play games back and forth all we want. You can mess with me, and I can mess with you. And in the end, I would be the winner. I would have loved to do that if that was my primary purpose, but it isn’t. If not for my goal, I wouldn’t even let you guys exist in this world.” Wei Jun said, making the three politicians close their eyes in fear.
“Look at me.”

All three of them opened their eyes to look at Wei Jun. Wei Jun took a slight breath and said, “So here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to sign me in on this project and silence all opposition. If you can’t, then tomorrow you’re all going to die due to mysterious reasons, and someone else will take your place.”
At his threat, the woman cried, but she still couldn’t let out even a gasp from her mouth.
Ignoring their plight, Wei Jun said, “Someone who’s more reasonable.”
With that, the meeting came to an end, and Wei Jun left with Xing Xiaomei with parting words, “Clean up here and clean up your lives. Live like good people from now on.”
As they closed the door behind them, Xing Xiaomei imitated calling someone with her hand and said, “Hello pot, I’m Wei Jun.”
“Shut it.” Wei Jun said.
“Hahahahahaha.” Xing Xiaomei’s angelic but maniacal laughter echoed throughout the corridor.
