Chapter 479: Released
Chapter 479

[Are you sure it would be okay?]

The overseer asked Wei Jun while he stood in the middle of the destroyed city, looking at the sword in his hand.

“It’s fine. It can’t control me to that point.” Wei Jun simply replied before he stored the sword in his inventory. Once done, he looked around, in the distance where Yan Rong could be seen making her way to him, running like her life depended on it.

He could see Xia Lu further in the distance with others, a smile on her face, as she conceded that moment to Yan Rong and decided to coddle Wei Jun later.

Wei Jun smirked and prepared himself to hug Yan Rong when suddenly, everything stopped. Everyone stopped moving as a wave of chill passed through everyone.

Boom!!!

In a distance far away, barely in their sights, they could see three white pillars erected, reaching the sky and disappearing into the clouds, unknown how high they were.

But one thing the others couldn’t pick was the familiarity in that wave. Not just fear, as everyone else felt, but Wei Jun felt something else. He felt like he had been in close proximity to the owners of those pillars. Someone he had seen a lot of times.

[Angels]

The overseer came to his help and said. Wei Jun, remembered as the overseer, said that. His dreams. His dreams of the half angel who was the overseer, Si Jie’s father, and the man whose power was to the point that it scared Wei Jun.

‘And those three…’ Wei Jun remembered. Two men and a woman, the three subordinates the man had sealed, except for Bang Yu, the middle-aged man, who was worried about the man.

Wei Jun had briefly come across him, but he didn’t remember much about him. All he knew was that he couldn’t defeat Bang Yu as he stood, and those three were out of question. If the angel, the man in question, Si Jie’s father, were thrown into the mix, the world would be destroyed.

‘I don’t like that one bit.’ Wei Jun said with a displeased expression.

[I have a feeling you’re not saying it out of a heroic sense]

‘Someone else is destroying the world I had set my eyes on. That’s the same as coveting someone’s wife.’ Wei Jun replied.

[Ah]

[I had forgotten]

[You were from the bloodline of lunatics]

‘Shut up.’ Wei Jun quipped, and by the time he was done, the pillars disappeared, and so did the sense of fear that was binding everyone.

“W-What was that?” Wei Jun Xing Xiaomei, the one with the strongest will among all of them. Even she was quite shaken, so it made sense that everyone else was as well.

Wei Jun walked forward and soothed Yan Rong, who shook slightly as he touched him. If she was like that, he couldn’t imagine how Xia Lu would be like, so he activated the party member skill and brought her close to himself before hugging her.

She didn’t resist and jumped on him, hugging him so strongly that even he felt pain. Well, it made sense; she was quite shaken from that power.

Had it not been for the circumstances, someone would have surely commented on Wei Jun having two pretty girls on each of his arms. But they were all pretty shaken as well.

“Haa…” Wei Jun sighed before he sucked in a deep breath and said, “Listen up!”

Everyone, along with the ones who were not in his team, perked up when he called them out. For a moment, they forgot the fear of those beings and focused on Wei Jun.

“I’m disappointed that you’re more afraid of those unknown presences than me.” Wei Jun said.

“…” Everyone looked at each other as if he was joking, but the majority of them gulped since they were Wei Jun’s teammates. They knew how scary he could be, and they didn’t like it one bit.

“So I’ll properly instill fear in you guys. So much so, you won’t fear even the god.” Wei Jun said with a grin that even made the two women in his arms flinch a bit.

“Just remember this…” Wei Jun continued while everyone managed to contain their fear of the presence from before and said, “Those beings. Your goal is to simply become stronger than those beings. So much so that they would be in your place while you would be in theirs. So much so that just the name would be enough to shake their souls.”

“Am I understood?!” Wei Jun sternly asked.

“Yes!” His team replied in unison while the outsiders looked at each other awkwardly.

“Good.” Wei Jun replied before he began to walk with both the women in his arms and said, “Now get your sh*t together. We have a lot of work to do.”

“We’re gonna get a very~ big project soon.”

Luo Li looked around. He could tell what big project Wei Jun was talking about.

The project of rebuilding the entire city.

~~

[I’m simply amazed]

‘By what?’ Wei Jun asked.

[By how fast you’ve grown]

‘It wasn’t that fast. Besides, you haven’t been gone for long.’ Wei Jun replied.

[No]

[Not that]

[That]

Wei Jun looked at what the overseer was referring to. A draconian, two mages, and many cultivators, all in line, waiting for his next orders.

‘Haa…’ Wei Jun sighed before he began, “Go ahead. Ask what you want.”

“Umm…” Yue Peng hesitated, not only she, but everyone else did so too, but she still asked because she was the main face of Wei Jun’s businesses, “Are our plans going to change so frequently?”

It was safe to say that the plan had changed drastically mid-battle, making it very difficult for everyone to adapt. There were many, many close calls, and if it was going to be like that going forward, then it was better if they were all prepared.

But plans change. That wasn’t what this question was about.

The main question was…

“Did I change the entire plan for one girl? That’s what’s going through your head, isn’t it?” Wei Jun asked out loud, the question that was on everyone’s mind, but no one said anything.

The plan changed because of Yan Rong. Until almost the very end of the plan, she hadn’t shown her stance, which caused Wei Jun to change his plan twice. In doing so, not only was it now a public fact that Wei Jun was a dark or evil cultivator, but many of them were in trouble in the middle as well.

So the question was simple.

Did Wei Jun’s entire leadership depend on the whims of his lovers?

“Yes.” Wei Jun simply replied.

With a cold look in his eyes, Wei Jun looked at everyone and simply said, “If you’re dissatisfied, come and take my position. If you can, that is.”

Leadership?

Since when was he a leader?

Since the very beginning, the term he used to define a leader wasn’t just one but a tyrant.

He was a tyrant.

The world of the strong, they could deal with it like the strong.

“…” Everyone remained silent. It wasn’t because of their bond they felt for Wei Jun that they didn’t move. The bond they felt deep down was an entirely different issue.

This was fear.

They were afraid of Wei Jun, and no matter how wronged they felt, they wouldn’t bring it up against Wei Jun. Their loyalty aside, their fear was the leading factor in their following Wei Jun.

“I think I speak for everyone that we should move on from this topic, boss.” Li Wei, the only one who didn’t care what was happening, spoke on behalf of everyone and requested Wei Jun to move on, which he was glad to do.

“Any reports on… what’s the guy’s name again?” Wei Jun asked.

“Xin Huatao, boss.” Li Wei swiftly replied.

“Ah, right.” Wei Jun said before he asked, “Any reports on his movements?”

“He didn’t bite, boss.” Li Wei replied.

Wei Jun had laid a trap for the new protagonist while he was busy dealing with the recent crisis.

Although he had to call back Xing Xiaomei, he didn’t care much. The plan was to pull him out and get him to take what he had prepared. Xing Xiaomei was just there to make sure it seemed authentic. Like they had something very valuable to guard.

But it was all useless if he didn’t come to get it.

“And what of the imperial family?” Wei Jun asked.

“The government is moving for the Yuan Yin city project. The imperial family is staying quiet in that regard for some reason.” Li Wei replied.

“And the contract?” Wei Jun asked.

That was the most important question of that meeting.

“…” And Li Wei’s silence, along with Lin Ruan’s and Yue Peng’s, proved that the answer wasn’t satisfactory.

‘Fu*k.’ Wei Jun. internally cursed, but he knew it wasn’t right to take it out on the girls. It was time to figure things out on his own.

“Contact the military for me. Set up a meeting. Let’s use all our cards. We can’t let go of this project. No matter what the cost.” Wei Jun replied, and everyone moved to make his instructions happen.
