Chapter 516: An Absolute Condition
Most of the powerhouses in the Primordial Expanse would be terrified if they learned that they had been branded as an Enigma, and they would be even more scared if they learned that the Machina were the ones chasing them down, but it was like Jason only saw the Machina as a nuisance! A hurdle that he needed to jump over to continue on his way! That singular fact ignited a fire of anger inside of Yelena, and Jason’s grin turned to something predatory when he saw the look in her eyes! Jason raised her severed arm and pointed it at her mockingly.

“I have a thousand different ways that I could kill you, each one more embarrassing than the last. Do you really think that upgrading your suit with more light shows would be enough to stop me? I am going to tear you apart piece by piece, Yelena. And when I’m done, I’ll use your heart to power my fucking toaster.”

Woosh!

The sword in Jason’s hand suddenly pulsed with an intense energy, and Yelena took a step back when she noticed one of Jason’s subordinates pop out from the shadows beside her! Jason suddenly vanished from where he had been standing, and Yelena’s eyes widened as she saw the subordinate beside her reappear where Jason just was!

‘He switched places!? That means—!’

Yelena’s head shot to the side to see that Jason’s hand was already raised for a downward slash, and Yelena felt desperation fill her at that moment! Yelena’s shoulder opened up, and hundreds of tiny balls suddenly shot out from rocket launchers! The balls flew straight towards Jason and immediately exploded!

KA-BOOOM!

Yelena didn’t even wait to see if the rattack had done any damage as her back shifted and released a pair of small wings! A rocket launcher ignited to life, and Yelena took off into the sky! More balls fell from compartments in her feet and rained down on Jason, and Yelena narrowed her eyes as an even bigger explosion echoed from beneath her! Yelena now knew that they had severely underestimated what Jason was capable of! The Overlord had tagged Jason as an SSS-Rank who had the possibility of taking on a low-rank TITAN due to his Necromancer ability, but that had been wrong! Jason was far more dangerous than any SSS-Rank had any right to be! Yelena had seen Jason utilise high-grade artefacts, runes, Arcane Arts, and forbidden magic! This much power would make anyone into a TITAN-rank at least!, and Yelena realised that they needed to reanalyse Jason’s power before anything else! Yelena tried to send a message to one of the Machina soldiers who were outside this shadow world, but she was shocked when her comms didn’t work.

‘Is the Arcane Art blocking the connection? That’s not ideal. I need to leave this place and pass a message to the General.’

“And where do you think you’re going?”

DOON!

Jason’s voice suddenly echoed through the air to reach Yelena, and Yelena felt a pressure settle on the world at that moment! For a split second, Yelena remembered something her mentor had told her a long time ago about predators. There were people out there who enjoyed playing with their food. They enjoyed watching their prey squirm and run before they chased them down and delivered the killing blow. Those people were no different from sadistic predators, and if you were to ever meet someone like that in your life, you run from them and do not look back, no matter what! Yelena realised that she had been unfortunate enough to run into one of them this very day, and no matter how desperately she wanted to escape, there was literally nowhere to run.

Jason spoke in a commanding tone:

“There is no electricity.”

[A condition has been placed on the [Land of Lost Shadows]]

[Condition: There is no Electricity.]

[The concept of Electricity does not exist.]

In the next second after the condition was activated, the entire world suddenly turned very silent! Yelena felt her eyes widen in surprise when she heard the loud voice echoing this condition, and she only had enough time to let out a curse before her rocket blasters suddenly fizzled out and died! Yelena screamed as she fell the long distance to the ground and slammed into the murky water, and screams could be heard from all around the shadow world as hundreds of Machina also fell from the sky! The Machina saw their technology and weapons dying out without any warning, and many of them even lost their ability to see and hear since they had augmented their eyes and ears with mechanical parts!

Jason knew he could have set this condition sooner. The Machina army was filled with what were essentially robots, so taking away something as important as electricity would be a big blow to them, but Jason hadn’t been certain of how the Machina’s bodies worked earlier in the fight. When the fighting began, Jason thought that the Machina were being powered entirely by mana, and they carried out all their functions by sending the appropriate amount of mana towards that part of their body! But when Jason took off Yelena’s arm just now, Jason realised that he had been wrong. It was true that mana was powering the Machina, but underneath the metal, they were just like any other robot. They needed wiring to their brain and around their mechanical parts to work, and it was obvious that there was only one form of energy that could be sent through those wires. Electrical Energy! That was why Jason had the confidence to erase all electricity!

The sound of battle from the Machina army had changed to screams of fear as Jason’s Legion eradicated them! Many of the soldiers in the army had been rendered immobile by the lack of electricity, and they could only lie there and take the attacks from the Legion, and those that could still move had lost most of their firepower, so they had no way to fight back! The battle had actually been going in favour of the Machina before Jason set this condition. Most of the soldiers in the Machina army were S-Ranks, and a few of them were even SS-Rank, so this meant they were on the same level as the Rook Rank II and Rook Rank III subordinates in Jason’s Legion. So even though there were only a few hundred Machina soldiers and Jason’s Legion was made up of thousands, it was still a matter of quality against quantity, and quality had been winning easily! All the Pawns in Jason’s Legion were practically useless, and the only thing they could do against the army was to use [Pawn Sacrifice] and [Piercing Ray] to try and weaken some of the soldiers! The Rooks were doing far better since they had the high defences as well as their [Linear Charge] that allowed them to deal extraordinary damage! The fight had been progressing well, and even though the Machina couldn’t push Jason’s Legion back due to the difference in quantity, they were dealing an insane amount of damage! But all that changed once the condition came into play!

The mighty Machina army lost all their fighting strength, and Jason had rendered them to pathetic piles of scrap metal with nothing but a few words! Jason walked slowly towards the downed Yelena with his [Death’s Mirage] in hand. Yelena was on her hands and knees as she stared at the ground and tried to get her body to respond to her, but no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t do anything! Jason had rendered her useless! Once he got close, Jason pushed her over with his leg, and Yelena flopped to her back and stared up at the sky with blank eyes. Yelena couldn’t hear or see anything, and the wires connecting her brain to her body to allow her to move had been cut off by the condition, so she couldn’t move either! Yelena was completely at Jason’s mercy!
