Chapter 511: Bloodmoon Festival
“The fugitive Jason Marc and Gina Fey have been last tracked to the Rank II world Junta, and it is believed that they will soon land on the Rank III world Rig’lah. Your mission is to intercept them on Rig’lah and bring them in. Excessive use of force is permitted due to the severity of the situation, and in the event that either one of them resists arrest, you are permitted to kill them.”
Yelena listened to the words of her superior officer with her hands behind her back. Her face was set in an impassive look, and her military uniform had the arms torn off to show off her well-maintained mechanical arms. Yelena was a beautiful woman with a long face and short red hair. She had cybertronic blue eyes that glowed with an artificial light, and her ears had been replaced with circular mechanical ears that increased her hearing range by miles. As Yelena listened to her orders, she could feel an excitement growing inside of her! Because even though her superior hadn’t said it, it was obvious that this was Yelena’s last test! This mission had come directly from the Overlord, and if Yelena passed it, then she would finally become one of the Generals in the Overlord’s army! She would reach her lifelong goal!
“You will be provided with a sufficient number of soldiers for the mission, and you have clearance to take any resource you feel you need. This is a mission directly from the Overlord, so failure is not an option. Is that understood?”
Yelena snapped a salute!
“Yes, sir!”
The call cut off, and Yelena immediately got to work organising her team and the resources. The Machina were a very efficient race who always did things in the way that would take the least time, so it wasn’t even an hour later when Yelena was moving across the pathway leading to the Dimensional Tears with fifty soldiers behind her! Yelena was dressed in the military outfit of the Machina, and she had a Raygun strapped to her back along with another Raygun on her left hip. All the men and women behind her had been specifically chosen by her superiors, so she knew that they were the best of the best in the army, and she didn’t need to give them a rundown of their mission since they already received it on their holographic comms. There was a male scientist standing at the Dimensional Tear, and he spoke to Yelena once she was close enough.
“We’ve installed an update to your system with the frequency of Jason Marc’s mana signature. You should be able to track him across worlds by following that mana signature.”
A holographic map appeared in front of Yelena, and a red dot showed the general location where Jason’s magic was densely gathered. Yelena nodded in understanding, and the scientist made a few last-minute checks to the Dimensional Tear before he moved to the side to allow the group to walk through. There was no need for ‘good luck’ wishes or ‘blessings’ as far as the Machina were concerned. They were a race of logical beings, and the only thing they believed in was facts and data. And right now, Yelena knew that she had enough firepower to take Jason down once and for all.
….
[The world of Rig’lah]
[The Festival of the Blood Moon]
The world of Rig’lah was a Rank III world that was made up of races from various worlds across the Primordial Expanse. During the Period of Lawlessness, this world had been a safe haven and a refugee camp for many displaced races, and even after the end of the war, many of those races decided to stay behind and live here! The people were technologically advanced enough to possess teleportation and even flight, and they lived in large houses that could rival skyscrapers on Earth! Currently, millions of people are gathered at the central square in the largest city on Rig’lah as they celebrate the Blood Moon that would be rising today. The Blood Moon signified the start of the harvest season for the people of Rig’lah, and even though they were technologically advanced, they were still traditional enough to remember the significance of this day! Large giants and small dwarves, along with creatures of all shapes and sizes, were in the town square celebrating with loud music and partying! There were large colourful tents all around them that shared food and drinks, and the sheer number of people there would put any festival on Earth to shame!
And somewhere within their number, Jason and Gina were moving quickly through the crowd of people. Jason held Gina’s hand as he weaved through the festival goers, and he stopped when a large foot slammed into the space in front of him as a giant walked past! Gina had a smile on her face as she looked around at all the colourful races and people! This was the first time Gina would see so many different races in one place, and she couldn’t help but be infected by their excitement!
“Jason, look over there. There are fairies! They look so cute!”
Gina pointed Jason to her left, and Jason looked over to see a group of fairies carrying a large basket of fruits into the air. The fairies were tiny things that were barely larger than Jason’s palm. They had small, beautiful faces and thin wings, and they wore dresses that were woven from leaves of various colors. Jason couldn’t help but smile at how cute they were. But Jason couldn’t appreciate them for long since he had to focus on the journey. The area for opening the Dimensional Tear was only about a mile away, and since the system warned Jason about this world, Jason decided that it would be best not to draw attention to them by using Ragnar. Jason couldn’t use the shadows either since this area was far too bright, so their only option was to walk through the festival!
[The user must travel two hundred meters forward and one kilometre east before reaching the specified region.]
Jason read through the message from the system, and he hurried up to get out of this festival as quickly as possible! Jason didn’t like being around so many people since he didn’t know which ones would be dangerous. Jason already had multiple subordinates hiding in the small shadows cast in the tents or houses, so at least Jason was sure that they would know if someone was trying to attack.
BOOM!
A sudden explosion rang out through the sky, and Jason turned around and looked up with narrowed eyes! The people all around Jason screamed at the explosion, and the music began to die down as the festival ground to a halt! A holographic screen suddenly appeared in the sky, and the face of a stern-looking military woman suddenly appeared on it and spoke in a loud voice!
“My name is Captain Yelena, and I am a Superior Captain in the Machina army! I have come here in search of a fugitive who has broken the interdimensional laws! This is his image! Any information or support in locating him will be handsomely rewarded by the Machina!”
Another image suddenly appeared beside the holographic screen, and Jason was shocked when he saw both his and Gina’s faces appear there! Well, fuck. The Machina were really not playing around! The image was crystal fucking clear even from this far away, and Jason knew without a doubt that every single person there now knew what they looked like. A few people around Jason turned to glance at him in curiosity once they saw the image, and Jason couldn’t help but sigh calmly as someone shouted.
“This is him! He’s over here!”
