Strongest Necromancer System - Chapter 410
Chapter 410: The First Raid
[New Hampshire. With the Alpha Squad.]
A large bus that had the royal M of the Monarch Guild printed on the side stopped in front of a completely unremarkable building in the middle of New Hampshire, and the superhumans came down from the bus with their weapons and gear ready. The streets of downtown New Hampshire had been emptied out by the military, and there was a perimeter around this region that prevented anyone from getting close, so the streets were completely deserted! But the members of Jason’s guild couldn’t help but wonder if an Orange Gate was really going to show up here! When Juliet came to the guild and told them that they would all be heading out for an Orange Gate dive, they thought that it was a joke! None of them had even heard about a Gate opening in New Hampshire, and there was nothing on the news, so they knew that the chances of an Orange Gate being there were close to zero! Why in the world were they traveling to another city without any Gate confirmation!?
But once the guild members heard that Jason was the one who sent them the mission and told them to go to New Hampshire, they finally decided that there might be some truth in what Juliet had said. If there was one thing the superhumans in the guild knew, it was to never question Jason’s powers. None of them really knew the true extent of Jason’s power, and they had all seen him do insane things with his abilities, so it was only fair that he would also be able to predict where and when a Gate would appear!
In front of the team of superhumans, Luud Francis stood with a look of concentration on his face that almost made him look constipated. He had changed into a uniform that was made up of a black vest and trousers with a golden M printed on the left breast. He had on black gloves, and his rings were attached to his forearm for activating his ability. The rest of the guild were also dressed in similar black and gold attire, and Francis had to admit that he liked the color scheme Juliet had chosen for the guild uniform! It was flexible enough to move in, and it also looked very nice! But Francis couldn’t help but feel nervous since this was his first mission as the leader of Alpha Team.
Growl~!
A growl came from somewhere to Francis’ left before Francis felt something brush against his hand, and he turned to see that his Moonlight Wolf partner was trying to draw his attention toward one of the buildings. Francis ran his hand against the Moonlight Wolf’s side, and he narrowed his eyes at the building. All the members of the Alpha Squad had been given Legion subordinates to act as support for them. Francis had been given two Rook Rank I Adamantine Ants and a single Rook Pawn Rank III Moonlight Wolf as his subordinate, and even now, Francis still couldn’t believe that Jason just gave out so many powerful creatures to them!
All the members of the guild had various subordinates to help them. There were Iron-Bladed Falcons, Spidermonkeys, and one of them even had two Radagan Soldiers that were supporting her! There was also a Catholic nun holding a camera at the side and watching them with hawklike focus—
“Huh?”
Francis turned to the nun in surprise once he noticed her. The nun hadn’t been there just a moment ago, and Francis wondered where the hell she came from! The nun was holding a large camera that looked like it would be worth tens of thousands of dollars, and the light blinking on the camera showed that she was recording them! When the nun noticed Francis looking at her, she gave him a thumbs-up like this was something normal, and Francis honestly didn’t have the heart to ask her what the hell she was doing! Francis could tell that she was also from Jason’s Legion since he had seen her fighting beside them in Radagan, so he just figured that this was something that Jason told her to do, and he decided to ignore her!
‘Now, where was I…? Right… the subordinates the Guild Leader gave us.’
Francis had gone to train with his own subordinates earlier, and he learned that they were all capable of following orders very well! They were even capable of carrying out their own complex formations without Francis having to do anything! The subordinates were there to act as support for the guild in case the monsters they found inside a Gate were too much for them to handle on their own, and Francis found himself feeling a lot more confident knowing that they weren’t going into the Gate alone.
Growl~!
The Moonlight Wolf at Francis’ side growled again, and Francis had to turn and focus on what the wolf was growling at. The wolf was staring at a certain building a few meters away, and at first, Francis thought there was someone there. But he was shocked when he suddenly saw a straight orange line tear itself through the space in front of them! The line slowly began to spin, and it grew until it had covered almost half of the entire building! And the superhumans could only watch in shock as a harsh wind began to blow across the region, as the light expanded into a full Orange Gate.
One of the women at the side put her hand up to her face to block out the wind, and she couldn’t hide the shock in her voice when she asked,
“How in the world did he predict this?”
None of the superhumans could even answer since they didn’t know how Jason had done it either! Francis turned to the nun holding the camera at the side, and he deadpanned when he saw her gesturing for him to start moving into the Gate so she could get a better shot. Francis just tightened his gloves and spoke to the group.
“We’re moving out! Stay together until we get the layout of the terrain! Remember to work with your partners and allow them to take the lead if you’re surrounded or outnumbered. This is our first time working together, so let’s try to make it a success and impress the Leader!”
Once Francis was done giving out his orders, he saw the other members all nod to him in understanding. Francis was younger than a lot of the people here, but Jason had made him the leader, so they knew that Jason had seen something in him, and Francis swore he would work hard to make sure he didn’t disappoint Jason! Francis was just glad that the other team members didn’t have anything against listening to orders from someone younger than them! If they started having issues before even going into a Gate, then there was no way this team would work!
Francis looked around to make sure that the team was already ready for battle. Even though they were going into an Orange Gate now, there was a sense of calmness in their stance, and none of them looked bothered by what they would see on the other side of that Gate. This was the same group that had just gone into a Yellow Gate a few days ago, so there was no way a simple Orange Gate would rattle them!
Francis smiled confidently and began moving forward.
“Let’s move out!”
The superhumans quickly followed after Francis, and they all crossed into the Gate along with their partners! They appeared on the other side of the Gate, and the first thing that they noticed was that the terrain was extremely dark. There was almost no light at all, and it was only their superhuman senses that allowed them to even see where they were. The nun at the side who was holding the camera quickly switched the setting to night vision, and she watched as her recording turned into a green and black night vision feed.
The superhumans were in the middle of a large cavernous tunnel that led deeper into the darkness! The cave was so large that even an Ashenvalley Dragon would likely fit in there without any issues, and it seemed like the walls had been dug out by some large mole-like creature.
ROARRRR!
“Everybody get ready!”
A loud roar came from down inside the cave, and Francis shouted for the team to pull out their weapons!
