Chapter 651: You are still here?
Damon was curious what he was going to say but seeing that the old man did not want to talk about it, he let it go.

The two continued talking for some more time, after which Damon excused himself and thanked the old man for sharing everything with him. He personally wanted to know more about Artimius himself.

Who was this old man? How was he related to these nine families? How did he know about all of this?

Damon wanted to ask him, but he also did not want to pry too much into his personal business. After all, Artimius did not ask too much either. He merely shared with him what he needed to know.

Ancient calamities waiting to slaughter him!

Damon chuckled.

While that was a future problem, there was yet another, more pressing problem right now.

The one other thing Damon learned from the old man was that all of these nine families and most of their members possessed powerful soul arts and inner energy battle techniques.

Without mana, these two helped them grow stronger and groom potential, skilled younger generation seedlings. In fact, it was these two techniques that made them unparalleled on Earth.

And right now, Damon severely lacked in both of them.

This meant that even without the ancient calamities awakening, he was already in danger. If La Rocha’s abilities were not top-notch, they would have already slaughtered him. They did not have to wait for some old monster to awaken.

With several thoughts in his mind, Damon stepped out of the chamber and leaned on the wall outside. Sylvara followed him out and watched him silently. She did not know what to tell him.

She herself had learned about many things for the first time today and was in utter shock. She could only imagine how Damon must be feeling.

Sylvara lingered beside him, fingers twisting in the fabric of her sleeve, a habit she had picked up only when she was overwhelmed. She opened her mouth once, twice, but nothing came out.

Damon let out a slow breath, the weight of everything pressing on his shoulders like a boulder. “You can say something, you know,” he murmured.

Sylvara swallowed. “I… don’t know what to say. Damon, everything he told you… it’s… It’s terrifying.”

Damon chuckled softly, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Welcome to my life. Chaos seems to like me a lot.”

Sylvara smiled a little. It faded almost immediately. “But Damon… this is too much. These families… these ancient things… they’ll come for you?”

“Apparently,” Damon said with a shrug, as if he weren’t talking about immortal nightmares hunting him through time. “Guess I’m very popular.”

Sylvara did not say anything. She simply leaned on the wall next to him and stayed by him silently.

After a while, Damon gave her a nod and then returned to the game. He immediately teleported to Blood Hall. There was a lot hanging over his neck, but all he could do was take things one step at a time. There was no point in getting overwhelmed about things he had no control over.

If anything, it was only painfully clear that he had done shit all to the super guilds. Those assholes probably had more resources and knowledge than he could ever imagine.

There were also more of them than he could count. They were like a really endless hive of monsters who would probably keep coming and coming no matter how many he destroyed.

There was no point in trying to suppress them anymore. He needed to change his tactic.

He needed to focus completely on himself.

The only way forward was to walk his own path.

If he simply reacted to every single one of their moves, he was wasting precious time. Instead, he needed to use his advantages and blast forward.

Damon exited his private quarters and went over to the throne room. Except his throne room was not exactly empty. It was now occupied by many vampire lords and one of the main family elders sitting on his throne. They gave him a small glance, but after that, they didn’t exactly care about him.

Clearly, he was the Lord of the Blood Hall for only namesake. Or at least that was the respect they were showing him.

However, Damon did not care. He already had a plan for the future, clearly laid out in front of him. There might be a lot of things happening around him, but his next step was in the Crimson Mountains.

He needed to explore Crimson Mountains more and see if he could find any leads for improving his soul strength. He fiddled with the system interface as he walked away from the throne room, when suddenly he ran into a familiar figure.

Alaric Valeross. The vampire gave him a smug, contemptuous look as he casually commented. “You are still here? Has no one kicked you out yet?”

Damon smirked. He had already enquired about the situation in the Crimson Mountains, and just like he expected, the Valeross family was knee deep in conquering demon cities.

While the other families were vying for the opportunities in the light faction continent, the Valeross family placed their bets on the demon cities. It looked like along with them, a couple of other families also decided to follow this route.

Technically, this guy was a high-ranking noble who should be busy dealing with those things, and he had no business being here.

And yet he was here. Right in front of his face.

Damon chuckled. He already knew that this was the guy who prevented his backup from arriving on time back during the Blood Hall battle. He was the one holding back Hinata and preventing her from assembling her army.

And now he was here.

He had a good idea what he was doing here. Probably trying to somehow force him out of his city lord title or some other twisted way to get back at him.
